Everyone talks shit about Sub and TGA but I've come out with some great phenos from popping their seeds. Deep Purple, Vortex, Plushberry, Marionberry Kush, and Dairy Queen have all produced amazing plants for me. And they're definitely not lacking in potency. I've got Conspiracy Kush coming up in this next run that I'm pretty stoked about. And people seriously bitching about hermis? Show me a seed company producing feminized seeds that isn't going to have a few hermies here and there. In fact I just ran a whole pack of the White Master Kush from OG Raskal, got 7 females from 10 seeds, 4 hermi'd on me and seeded quite a few plants in that run. You know what though? That's what you gamble with when gambling with seeds, especially feminized seeds! I still found a killer keeper pheno from that White Master Kush run too; so i'm not bitchin. I'm not saying every breeder out there knows what they're doing but TGA isn't as bad as people make them out to be.

@HeadGrow
1st lets get one thing straight I'm not talking shit about the man, I bet you I have more breeders packs of his gear laying on the table then you have :) I have gave Sub Cool a lot of money, Hell even bought his book Dank 2.0.
2nd Under the breeders threads I even have a thread that I started sometime ago about his Youtube Channel and his gear, I watch every episode...;)
3rd What happened to the other 3 seeds ?

Who said anything about feminized? These were straight sex seeds so you'd better fucking believe I'm gonna bitch if I get hermies from that. Btw, you won't hear me talking about growing out feminized beans because I don't do it.

It's wonderful that you like the gear, I simply haven't enjoyed the results I've gotten whereas with other genetics the results are generally far more pleasing.
I had to cull all my TGA gear, I would have to get twice what I do for others to offset the crap yields and poor quality...not commercially friendly genetics at all..maybe knockin out a closet for some headstash but if your trying to make money I would stay away...
IMO, and IME, if you're an 'accomplished' smoker, this gear just isn't for you. After the results of the Jillybean I will absolutely agree--don't grow this if your goal is to make any kind of weight AT ALL. The blown out foxtails have driven me insane, I'm ready to just throw out the whole batch just so I don't have to trim that shit.

I wasn't refering to anyone in particular. I just see a lot of people bash his gear. Didn't mean anything against you. The other three seeds turned out male or didn't pop. I just got test result back though and one of the keepers I ended up with is 19.67%, at a testing place that rarely puts out a 20% test; I thought that was pretty cool.

And everyone is entitled to their opinion, so i'm not going to argue with you that there isn't anything from TGA worth an "accomplished smokers" time. But I got to ask, so what breeders do you feel are worth your time? Bodhi? Raskal? Sagamatha? Alien? Reserva Privada? Exotic? Cannaventure? I've seen issues come from almost every breeder I've ever tried. Some are generally better than others I believe. I wouldn't base a "big name" breeder on a single strain though. If that was the case I wouldn't have ever found any of the fantastic Bodhi strains after my first debacle with Blue Tara. I generally don't go for feminized seeds but it's getting harder and harder to find regular beans. And there are a ton of options in feminized seeds from decent breeders. Obviously they come with their risk though. I'd still go for regular seeds over feminized if given the choice.

If you like that old federation Romulan you're going to fall in love with the White Romulan. I popped a pack of those a few cycles back and damn that's a nice strain. It's one of my favorite smokes and another one that tested out at 20%. Raskal has made some nice creations. I had a really nice White Strawberries too from someone else. Post up some pics when you got her blooming, I'd love to see her.

I am almost done with the application process and waiting for a final inspection to be up and running hopefully by Feb 15th.

I know a few people in the same boat as you; waiting for the inspection and then the license supposedly. A couple have even spent crazy amounts of money getting ready. I really doubt it's going to happen until the liquor control board gets their way with putting the kibosh on mmj. Have you read the new recommendations? If you haven't then you should see what the state has planned.

I understand your dream of wanting to grow legal weed and make it your passion as well as business. Trust me, there are A LOT of people with the same dream. But if it comes at the expense of all medical marijuana patients then it's wrong. And if you're all for the rights of medical patients to get stripped away just so they're forced to buy the state weed then that's pretty messed up and greedy.

It's important to note that this is the first market in over 80 years in this country wherein the price of marijuana will actually generally follow our expectations from economics. IE, an increase in demand will precipitate an increase in price and in supply until the level of supply overtakes demand at which point the price will come back down.

The price will ebb and flow like this for a long time coming, it will do so wildly in the first year or two--and will vary by region. As new states legalize recreationally, this will also have an effect on pricing.

Now is the time for all of you who have been hidden in your basements to make some money--but please understand that we're only about 10 years removed from corporate marijuana suppliers. This is not likely to be a business you want to stake your livelihood on into the distant future.

I don't have to think more than a moment on this question. Personal friend who's been working with Motarebel--Loran. He doesn't sell beans, but I was mighty pleased to see that he was willing to let Motarebel help spread some of his excellent breeding love and I know exactly what's Loran's when I go through his list of beans. I can't say enough good things about the Longbottom Leaf, though it's confusing to me when I hear it called so many other different things, I'd prefer folks stick to what the BREEDER named it, not using your own made-up-so-it-sells-better name. But, that's me.

I've gotta agree 100% with you on the 'good luck finding regular beans' thing. I know there's a huge demand, but like I've said before, I prefer proper sex to chemical sex. I mean, was a Spanish Fly ever really THAT good? Not in my experience.

Beyond that, I was extremely happy with the Connoisseur Genetics Purple Cheddar I got to grow out last year. I lost the cut I was gifted, so as soon as I could I bought what beans I could here on the farm. I've grown out more than one TGA strain, but I hadn't done that since I first started growing. Since I generally grow outside using organic methods, I figure that my scenario allows for the fewest problems. It certainly allows all strains to show themselves to their best, so I was extremely surprised when, after the buds finally began to build, they started shooting outward and not stacking, just fluffing out. Extremely disappointing. That said, I do have one person who seems to really like the product, so he'll probably be getting all of it.

Yeah, except they're only issuing so many licenses. Not even close to the number of growers out there right now. So while a few might get to play the game, the rest will get shit on. I'm not completely sure how it's going down in Colorado but in WA it's not looking good. Your model is correct of supply and demand and the end price will be so high that it will most likely double street prices; making it just boost the black market until like you said, things stabilize. I just don't like the idea of a few growers supplying all the weed. It seems that quality control will go out the window.

That's awesome you've got personal connections with reputable breeders. I don't have that luxury, so i'm stuck to looking into different breeders and experimenting with different gear. I've found some great keepers though. I wonder if it's an outdoor vs indoor thing with the TGA strains. I haven't really grown outdoors for over 10 years now but I remember a strain or two performing better indoors compared to out and vice versa. I have seen plenty of foxtail phenos from TGA but i've also seen it from other breeders, so I don't know what to chalk that up to besides the idea that every kid won't turn out perfect.

Understood and agreed, but truly, this was exceptionally and consistently bad. I love my Sativas, too, so it's not like I'm unaccustomed to seeing some seriously ugly-ass 'bud' either. I just expected so much better from these girls and was extremely disappointed.

If you're looking for what to buy here, I have no issue with dropping my hard earned on Golden Lion, Motarebel, Connoisseur, um... shit, I'd have to go through the list. I just bought some CBDCrew gear at the Emerald Cup, gotta find a place to run some of that because I have no experience with it, and I got the only non-feminized offering available.

I would love your suggestions on breeders you prefer. I almost picked up a pack of the CBD Crew seeds at the high times cannabis cup in Seattle but passed on em. I have so many seed packs waiting to be popped. I think I'm a bean addict. ;) The next breeder I want to try is GageGreen. I've seen and heard about some great strains coming from them. I picked up the strain Stone Free which is Chemdog D x Mendo Montage Four Star. I'm hoping to work that into a run here in the near future.

^^unless you got that before october you'll be in for a wait..... more like july 15th. hopefully they approve ya!

Ummm....what on earth are you talking about? WA state took applications for one month beginning Nov 20th and ending Dec. 20. No one in WA state made any applications prior to that.

Not sure where you got your information? WA state took applications for a 30 day period. In that time frame there were right at 2800 applications for growers. EVERYONE that applied to grow that can pass the background check, fills out there application properly and has a viable business plan will be licensed to grow. They are not limiting the number of growers here from that pool of 2800 applications. Even though the state projects that they want to set a 2 million square feet of canopy cap for the state they will not do anything about that for at least a year to see how people do with their grows, how much canopy they actually put into production and what quantities the actual market will bear. If anything there will be a glut of legal weed in WA state which is most of the growers main concern here. If 2800 growers is not enough they will open their licensing process again to accept more licenses from growers but personally I would not expect that in the next year or maybe more.

The only limit on numbers of licenses being issued is for retail shops of which they have limited to 334 throughout the state and they only allow a certain number per community or in areas with lower populations they only allow a certain number per county. People applying for retail shops will have to be in a lottery if more people applied than there are allotted spots for.

Despite all the negativity associated with Rezdog, not to mention that tendency to herm, I am always happy to run pretty much anything Chem X'd. Makes weight like a champ, great fantastic smoke for most, too.

I'll put a shout out for BoG gear, too, because I've run so many strains that were crosses of his lines, including last season, and that Agent Orange x LSD is fantastic smoke. It's another one of Loran's crosses, but I'm sure you can get a hold of LSD here... I think you can anyway. I wish Chimera were still breeding, but I've heard he's out.
