Super excited for this next run we will be adding 4 modules to make 20 total but got the super hook up on a 5 ton excel air stealth AC systems with a uv sterilizer plenum and their new fabric duct also a 5kw heat strip for a unheard of price so that I'll be installing along with 4 Epapillons (similar to gavita)1000w and also 4 adjust a wings running solis tek bulbs the 4k and solis tek ballast and going to check out 4 new adjust a wings that hold a double ended bulb probably go with ushio's new DE bulbs or Phillips so super stoked on all this and trying to find the way to set up some super cages so not having so many yo yo's we will see how that goes got a couple ideas. So stayed tuned the caged thread will continue to improve always. Thanks everyone. Much love farmers!!View attachment 351460View attachment 351461

Let me start by saying thanks to Amber and Alice, for sharing and taking the time to post. It's easy to see y'all bleed passion.

I've got a 4 light room with Gavitas over two 4x8 flood and drain tables that pulled 10.75 lbs. Loved them! Best yield I've had yet. I've also got a 12 lighter with the E-Paps running coco in 7 gallon geos, 6 under each light. I'm just chopping them now so I don't have a final tally weight for the papillions, but they look like they're gonna pump over 2 per light… Kinda apples to oranges with those 2 completely different rooms. Honestly though, par read better on the gavitas, and I can't stand working in the room with the papillions 'cause they throw light straight to the side, right in your face. Either way, they both seemed to perform... They both run hot as shit though!!

How big of a par difference?

I wanna say around 600, give or take, but it's been quite a while since I tested it, so don't quote me…. I just took everything down to clean, but I'll post some pics with the actual readings for you as quick as I get em back up.

How big of a par difference?

From the bottom of the E-Pap hood (not the bulb) down 18 inches read 1053 on my par meter.

The Gavita read 1726 on the same meter. Again, I sampled it from the bottom of the hood down 18 inches.

And another ballast/hood combo that I didn't mention earlier…..
A Gavita ballast paired with a Sun System AC/DE double ended hood…. Read out at 2833 on the same meter… That's unvented with no glass.

Here's a pic of the Sun System hood. It's my favorite, but it was a little more expensive than the others though too.

Disclaimer: There may be a margin of error on the Sun System hood reading. I had to reach over some plants and try to hold the measuring tape steady as well, as opposed to hooking it on the bottom of the hood like I did the others; so I can't say for sure that it's right at 18 inches. I tried to get it as close as I could, but after comparing the different readings I'm a little skeptical myself. I'm gonna take another reading of the Sun System hood tomorrow when the lights come on again, just to double check. I'll keep you posted. Also, I'll measure how far the bulbs are from the bottom of all the different hoods, so I can tell you exactly how far away each reading was taken.

As far as comparing the Papillions to the Gavitas goes… The Gavitas came with longer cords too, so I didn't have to spend extra money on the 240 extensions that I had to buy with the Papillions. And if I remember correctly, the lateral par readings were higher on the Gavitas too.

Yes hot is a understatement huh? We had 4 of the e-paps over a 15 site UC but the amount of heat they put off was making my room up to 85-90 degrees. I couldn't do that so I took them out and replaced with some good old hoods. Those par ratings you have are very interesting and can't wait to talk to our rep that sells us 100's of these e-paps and keeps raising their prices. Those #'s your pulling speak loud though. When I had the e-paps running I couldn't turn them up past 600w they were so hot. Are you finding you have to keep them the recommended 30-40" from plant tops? Thanks for posting that. Last question what kind of bulb was that you took the last par rating with and which sunlight supply hood? If I missed that sorry.

Yeah, they definitely pump some heat! I had 12 e paps in a 17x18 room with a dedicated 5 ton PLUS the house's central AC, and it was barely able to keep up with them. On the bright side though, that was my best harvest to date.... I would say you need 3 feet, at a minimum, from the plant tops. You can raise them way up, and still get great penetrations. I had mine raised, what I though was sufficiently, and I still had some light bleaching. The thing about the double ended bulbs is... You've just gotta be ready with some serious AC game and high ceilings, or they'll burn everything up.

Anyhow, the last hood is a Sun System AC/DE hood. The one in the picture is paired with the gavita ballast and phillips bulb. To me, that's the best possible lighting option out right now. I've got4 of them over 2 18 evos in a 12x12 room. I'm about to pull it down at the end of the week, so I'll let you know how it stacks up to my E-pap and Gavita pulls.
