did anyone see Palimino/gaethje last nite? what a war? mouth pieces flying - fought till they dropped....! WOS card was some of the best MMA matches Ive seen in awhile...

Our boy Gaethje (UNC colo wrestler) lost the fight but won the MMA match, He got lucky it was a MMA match. Palomino had him but the bell saved Garethje. Its hard to beat world class wrestler and jujitsu when there are rounds. Fucking rounds ruin the fight aspect... A good fighter can beat these MMA guys if you get rid of these stupid ass rules.

watch this if you like a good MMA match.

Gaethje vs. Palomino full fight

Totally agree with having no rounds. Why do we need to have rounds. It's one of the "rules" I think could be given up. I think they do it to add advertising revenue, sex appeal, and perhaps a longer, more drawn out fight.

Many small battles instead of a war.

It kind of goes against the whole idea of ultimate fighting. In a real fight, you don't stop after 5 minutes and give each other a break. There are some rules that go against that idea as well, but I think they are necessary and reasonable I.e. No groin strikes, or to the back of the head. This sport would be better, and, at least, a little more credible, without rounds. I hate to see fighters lose the match when the other guy was obviously gassed and probably would have lost had a round been able to continue.

I think your fitness level should be part of the competition. If, in the first round, you are essentially saved by the bell; part of me thinks you lost the fight. I say part of me because I hold the rules as the ultimate testament to who won the fight. E.g. May weather vs Ruiz. I think Ruiz should have been tossed for what he did here. But what he did after had the panties of Mayweather haters all over, up in a bunch. I really dislike Mayweather Jr. as a person. But what he did in this fight is totally legal. It's protect yourself at all times. They are reminded of that before the fight. The ref called time in.

I agree that what Mayweather did was "cheap." But Ruiz just tried to headbut him like a billy goat. Now he wants to hug during fight time. It makes more sense to me how he explains it...he said he never heard the ref call time. And that is what it looks like, bc it didn't seem like he had plans to put his gloves up any time soon. I think that all that energy, and his frustration with himself for what he just did caused him to lose focus. Sorry, but if you get kO'd for that you lose. Focus is part of the game. What Mayweather did was legal. Even though I don't like him, I take his side with this particular event. Ruiz just made a bad decision (whether he heard the ref or not).

But if you are saved by the bell and go on to win the fight...yes, you are the winner, but part of me considers you lucky.

In mma, being saved by the bell or the round time limits irks me even more.

Does anyone know why they don't allow heel hooks in a lot of these events? I keep meaning to google it...

Lol, I'm as far from an anger issue as you can get. I'm positive of that, even my therapist says so (not kidding).

I don't want to look back now, but aren't you the one who used to wrestle?

It's the competition, the adrenaline, the struggle. I think the lack of anger was to my advantage most of the time. I boxed mostly with my grandfather and uncle, so from the beginning it was always a sense of competition. And even in the street, I really didn't hate the other guy. If we are fighting, it's because you are being a dick at level at which cannot be allowed to continue, whether it's short term (e.g. At a bar), or long term (e.g. You think I'm the guy to steal on).

But I see it with people who have never fought before, they watch a fight and start to get into it, motioning with their body as if they were in the match. Imagine what that does to someone who has a lot more experience than the average person. I think we are understanding the line "just reason to fight" differently. What I mean is I'm almost hoping that I show up at 7-11 when a guy is roughing up some girl. Which tends to be the reason I end up doing anything in the last 10 years.

To show my lack of desire for violence I'll tell one of my favorite stories, yes, that's my reason for telling one of my favorite stories (extremely short version). You have your friends that you know are down to get rowdy, and you have the friends that you know, aren't. Nothing wrong with that, I loved them just as much, they had just never gotten over that fear. I have fears I hadn't/haven't gotten over. One night I happened to be with 3 friends that weren't. We were going by a bar in Lowell (the one shown in The Fighter actually). A guy was beating up, I assume, his girl. I rolled down my window, stuck my head out as we drove by and checked out the scene. I told the kid to stop the car, he said "Junk, don't." I told him to stop. I got out and taunted the guy until he dropped the girl. She immediately ran away and he starts walking, angrily at me. Now by the time I got the kid to stop the car, we were significantly further up the road, so he has to come up about 25 ft. Now I knew this guy was big before I got out of the car. Really big, like 6'3", 230 lbs. all muscle. Just a huge frame on the guy, he is gonna have a massive reach advantage on me. So I continue to taunt him, I pull my shirt off and tuck it into the back of my waste band and assume the bouncing position.

The guy gets about 15 ft away and I take off and dive into the window of the car and tell my friend "GO,GO, GO!!!!!" HA!

I was getting myself back in the car, it's not as easy as you think when you are speeding away. So if you are ever a noob in this situation, factor that in. So I couldn't see him, but my friends said he was super pissed and that he chased us like 30' and then ran back towards the bar. They were so scared he was going to chase us, the kid driving (who was freaked by this point, hands shaking) asked if I should drive lol. (Because I was a better driver)

I said "Just turn down these streets [his name] and lose him. Can you believe it? You are in a real live chase, you're gonna tell your kids about this someday."

He said, "Yeah, that's if I live to have kids." Still freaked out Lol.

He did have kids. and we never saw that guy again. They were nervous they were going to be hunted down lol. I don't think the guy would have even recognized me if I ran into him again, never mind them.

So then they start teasing me, calling me a p**** for backing down, to lighten the mood. And I told them that was my plan from the beginning. "Why do you think I rolled the window down, I wasn't gonna fight that guy, did you see him? He's a * MONSTER!!!!!"

The kid in the back, who was my roommate at the time shakes his head and says, "You are crazy."

I thought I was pretty clever.
Lino was the wrestler I was just a soccer player as a kid:)
That was a funny story:D it's the what if part that gets ya. Like what if the truck stalled at that very moment? Hehehe or what if he caught you before you made It in the window!

Did anyone else see pahleharas is getting stripped of his belt and suspension by the nsac ???? That dude is a damn lunatic!!!

^ lol , Ortiz head butts him! But mayweathers a dirty slimy snake 4 sure

It would have been bad. At the time I was 5'10" 175. I also have a big frame. My shoulders are much wider than a typical person my height, my arms and legs are longer too. At 175, I look emmaciated. When I've gone into the doctors at 175, the doctors tell me I need to gain weight, in spite of that little chart. It's like I have 175 lbs worth of bones in my body. 195 is a good look for me. This guy was about 230, all muscle. I know because all he had on was jeans, boots, a leather belt, and a black leather vest. So I could see pretty clearly this guy was big. So he had 55 lbs on me, a lot of reach, he's drunk, knowing that bar he is probably coked up and extremely angry.

I'm not quick to make decisions like that. I've seen a lot of people who "look" extremely tough, that can't take a punch. And I'd say, probably the two toughest people I know are tiny. Sammy Garcia, and one eyed Suk. (Sook, not suck) One eyed sook lost his sight in one eye after, during a fight, the kid pulled a knife and stabbed him in the eye. I want there for it, but everyone said he still kicked the kids ass. Suk weighed 145 at the most, but I wouldn't tangle with him. Sammy Garcia (I think Google might pull something up, he's been in e paper enough) is in jail for murder. I went to school with Sammy. In 6th grade, 6!, he was fighting all the biggest "tough" kids in the school. Now he was violent.

I also went to school with the American kid who joined Al-queda a few years back (the first known case of it). Danny Maldonado. That was weird.

I have a friend who is 240 at my height. His wife asked me to get him a t-shirt for a surprise. I did, she said it was way too big, and I actually really liked the shirt, so I took it back. I put it on, and it's a bit large in the stomach area (it wouldn't have been for him) but it fits me enough that I would wear it (I'm 195-200 now) So I put it on and asked my wife how this shirt could possibly not fit him. She said, "Your shoulders are REALLY wide, in fact, all of you is just, big. I feel like they gave you a 6'2 persons body and just smushed it down to 5'10. You just have big bones."

Big Bones, experience, even if I had back up, I wasn't gonna fight that guy. You are right, if he somehow got a hold of me, he would have picked me up and body slammed me into another dimension. I had a plan when I got t of the car...it never occurred to me until you brought it up, but I didn't have a plan B.

I think plan B would have involved me going to the hospital to get the sidewalk removed from my face, then sorting through the bones to see what could be salvaged and what was throw away. I was only 19 or 20 at the time. This guy was a full grown, massive man. And It's a tough bar, that's where Micky and Dickie hang out. Dickie punched my cousin so hard outside the bar he killed him a few years back. My cousin could be an idiot when he was drunk, but I wasn't there to know what really happened. Had I been, I would have de-escalated the entire way. I, nor you, nor "we," are gonna fight a retired, top tier, professional boxer who fought Sugar Ray Leonard. My uncle and grandfather still kicked my rear end, this guy will slaughter us. My grandfather was in his 70's, still punched like a freight train. For a boxer, the punching part is like riding a bike, they will never forget.

The best part of the whole thing was hearing my friend say "do you think you should drive?" As he frantically steers the car and keeps checking his rear view. I think I will laugh about that until I'm dead.

Not to keep filling the thread with my useless nonsense, I've just ingested the right amount of Sour D.

My favorite Sammy Garcia story, after 8th grade he went away to Juvie or wherever they send kids that young. I saw him many years later at the McDonalds at the beach. He was with two people, but he was talking to some guy. I said "Hey, Sammy!" He said, "hey what up cuz, I ain't seen you for a minute, hold on a sec." He turns back to the guy he was talking to and he said "what did you say to me?" The guy repeats it, and only now do I realize what's going on. Sammy pulls out a black jack and cracks the guy across the face with it so hard, that I couldnt describe it without being gross. The guy stumbles out. And Sammy turns to me, and with as straight a face as I've ever seen on him he said "what up cuz, yo, it was good seeing you, I'll check u out later, I'm gonna bounce alright," we did our little hand shake thing and he left. Seconds later I decided to as well, and on the way out I saw the guy slumped over the railing and his face, was not right.

That's why, no matter what the rules, we will never match a street fight. Because in the streets, you have (had) people like Sammy. A 5'6" skinny kid, who isn't afraid of anyone, and he is gonna crack your face wide open with whatever he has available before you can say "Boo."

And had it been Sammy driving by the bar that night, he probably would have waited for the guy to get 10 ft away, and then shoot him in the kneecaps and pistol whip him. He was like the Joe Pesci of Lowell.

That was the second time I had seen him do that to someone. (Blackjack)
