OK here goes....

a number of years ago I was living in central Missouri. I go deer hunting with a buddy of mine.so I'm up at Oh Dark Thirty and we get out to the spot. We set up a small blind and I sit in it. And I sit, and sit, and sit. about 4 hours go by, i can't feel my legs or feet from the cold. I need to walk around a bit. So I grab my Marlin 30-30 and head out of the tent. I slowly walk up to this draw and up ahead in the thick trees and brush i see what looks like a 10 pointer and some does. I slowly draw a bead on the buck. Inhale, slowly exhale, squeeze the trigger and CLICK. WTF? At this point the buck is looking directly at me. I'm frozen in place. I try to chamber another round and the noise scatters the deer. Well shit. So I try to track them a bit to no avail. I rack a fresh round in the chamber and set out to find my buddy. I tell him what happened. He laughs. He says, "Here's try mine" and hands me his 30.06. I line up on a beer can, deep breath, exhale slowly squeeze, and CLICK. We pull that round out of the rifle and stare at it. I pull the dud from my pocket and stare at it. I looked at my buddy and say, "Let's go get some breakfast, I don't think God wants us deer hunting today.. and we went and got an awesome breakfast at a local diner.

I don't think I've been deer hunting since.

Yep, sounds like it was breakfast time.

Got one on the opposite end of the equation for ya. My FIL and his brother were out pheasant hunting. They weren't seeing much in their favorite spot, so they tossed their shotguns in the back of his Buick and head for another spot down by the power lines.
Tony pulls his LC Smith out of the trunk and he and Walt head down opposite sides of the clear cut.
A rooster pops up in front of Tony. Tony thumbs the safety off, leads the bird a bit, and CLICK! Bird drops out of the sky like the hand of God touched it.
Tony's standing there bewildered with a gun he forgot to load in one hand and a dead rooster in the other. Walt's laughing his ass off. Turns out the shotgun wasn't magical; the bird flew up and broke it's neck on one of the overhead power lines.
