yeah good for veg and osram is a huge step up from epistar chips.thats an interesting looking light
so could i use the drivers out of these lights to make a grow light??? Like if i was to buy some cobs......

you prob could use those drivers for some type of build, whats in them ? you could also just add some 2700k diy cobs around that panel for a niuce full spectrum light

Completely school the thread? WTF r u talkin bout Willis? Big giant bud??? Do I detect some sarcasm there?
No I am completely serious.

I was talking about your knowledge on circuit boards and the fact that you had to run because you had tons of Bud to trim means you know what you are talking about.:D

hi sixstrings i can get some of these led lights cheap do you think the would be any good they say they are 10.000 lumens. It sounds like you know what your going on about when it comes to led panels.....
Do you have any specifications on the light?

And honestly led is still not very efficient as it can someday be. Although it is more efficient than other forms of lighting. Here is why I say this,

A modern, good-quality, high-brightness LED (HB LED) has an efficiency of around 45%. While this might not seem particularly impressive, when you compare it to a tungsten bulb, which has an efficiency below 5%, you can see that LEDs show a huge improvement. Another way of expressing efficiency is in efficacy or lumens per watt (lm/W). HB LEDs in volume production easily achieve 150 lm/W, and the industry has a roadmap to reach 200 lm/W by 2020. This may well be achieved as research and development devices exist that exceed 300 lm/W.

The problem with LEDs is the electrical energy that is not converted to photons is converted to heat. Put simply, in operation LEDs get hot. Heat and LEDs are not good bedfellows. Heat reduces the efficiency of LEDs, so less light is produced. This effect escalates, leading to catastrophic failure. Some heat is tolerable, but operation of the semiconductor much above 100°C noticeably reduces the quality of the light produced and triggers a variety of wear-out mechanisms that considerably shorten the life of an LED bulb.

Because the operating temperature of LEDs needs to be relatively close to ambient, the only effective means for removing heat is by conduction. The upshot of this is that HB LEDs need to be attached to a type of circuit board that is specially engineered to transport heat by conduction through to a heat sink. The various circuit board types are known by names including insulated metal substrates (IMS), metal core or clad printed-circuit boards (MCPCBs), and metal-in-board printed circuit boards (MIB PCBs).
This is one of the best post I've seen explaining what makes a quality LED quality.:D

No sir, no joke, just new to indoor growing. Can you give me a breakdown of why I want 50 per sqft?
You may need some even coverage especially with that little Mars Hydro 300. 35 watts per square foot will do it but you were asking how you could make your veg more aggressive and 50 watts would be a lot better in the blue.

You could add in a 6500 K T5 for veg and swap the bulbs out at flower.

No worries it will still work at 35 watts per square foot. I have lived on a shoestring budget my whole life LOL even if you can scrounge up some old CFLs and the right color it would help.

Scrounge me up some free electricity lol I love the sun, I seen a inch of growth a day. But I'm tired of the bugs lol my last 2 plants got demolished in a matter of hours by these tomato worms things.

Oh yes tomato hornworms you come out the next day and your plant is a stick LOL.

can anyone give be a KIND led review ??thanks
I saw a guy on here buy a kind and a spider. I think he ended up saying he like the spider better. Honestly I have never used either one of those. I don't see any reason to spend that kind of money on an LED. I guess it's nice to have a built-in timer and a remote control and all that junk but I wouldn't really need it. I would rather take the money and buy an extra light.

what do you think of Galaxyhydro 300 -fullspectrum - uv & ir - dimminable for 100.00 (one of the top 5 ledlights under 200.00) just thought you might a some info or experience with it - PEACE

Just another reason I hate technology as much as I do. We cant see each others faces and never really know what the other side is feeling cause we cant see facial expression and countenance. :D Thank you bro for the clarification. I appreciate that. Its all good. But truth be known, @sixstring and some others here got it all over me when it comes to LED tech. You need knowledge of LED and builds then get yer 6 on...........
And if you don't believe me , look at the cover shot of the video of FFDP and see that saw hes holdin. ..........Well that what 6 uses to cut his trees down. :p

What I have found with those galaxyhydro is you can run the wheels off them and they have a warranty LOL. They're 3 watt LEDs so by everyone standards their weak. For me that just means putting the light a little bit closer. It has two different lens angles so it has a nice wide spread on it. It has a lot of great red nanometers. Some great blue nanometers plus the UV and IR. It even has some white but they don't tell you what Kelvin and they don't show you a spectrum output. The three watts are pretty efficient and it runs pretty cool. For old school junk is still kind of expensive I saw them for $80 on Amazon. But then I also saw that Mars Hydro 300 drop their price to 65 dollars. Good luck with any warranty from Mars Hydro though even new LOL.

Oh shit I know that I know junk lighting and good lighting LOL. If someone comes to me and all they can afford to buy is cheap shit I'm not going to discourage them LOL. Maybe they will go on to grow and teach others.

I use 10,000 lumen rated lights for bringing out the trichs for the last 2 weeks of flower.

Here is an example of what 10,000 k can do. Keep in mind tho quality of the genetics helped.!!!! Damn I put in a 10,000 k mh bulbs and went to work.
Came home and somehow it snowed on my friggn plant!!! Love it when fans leaves get dusted as good as sugar leafs. :smoking::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire:

thanks "dnewsome2" for the info on the Galaxyhydro sounds like i got lucky considering the lowcost and quality - know that they are cheap but these are the 1st - will get a Kind once I see how LED's do
