i agree with incogneato about Wisher. I just think the thread has gotten derailed. I don’t agree with the guiding new guys down to just following instructions. It doesn’t help them learn IMO. I like the dudes there and that was my main thread but I just think it’s ballooned too much
Some of it is downright comical. And the guy sets himself up. Wow the shit I could stir, but that's note my thread.

I feel the same way. Its like 10 new guys grow thread now. Too derailed for me. Nothing against any new guys but i dont know em and i can just talk to everyone i know from that thread on other threads im already on., except wish n event.
People ask me to do masonry and I just laugh, and tell them I know a guy. In a year you should have no problem doing the same...
This year is the year im gonna start. I got to beick my house with my father, we built a nice patio not ling after, did my mailbox, landscaping (stone) and i thing im donr unless its the tender meat. Let the young guys get the hard stuff. Everyone has a bad chimney because people hate doing them. That used to be my bread and butter because im not lazy and i dont kill people on the price. I get paid but im a working man too, i get it.

I talk to electricians and plumbers they charge 65 per hr. You charge 30 and everyone acts like it's robbery. I'm just saying a hour a day 2 days a month + or - and you don't have to do that shit anymore.
Lmao, so true. I just did a chimney on a house twice the size of mine. Did it for an even g. It was fucked but i cut em a break and he still wanted a better deal. Meanwhile i pay out the ass if i ever actually let anyone do anything for me. It dont happen often though.
Youre right though. Im changing my mentality as far as work goes. Its just a tough balance because i know if i sacrifice myself i can make a good life for my girls. Its all i work for.

How did i miss the fact that your name is stone stacker? Thought it was a play on words with getting stoned, now i realize it was. Just too advanced for me lol. So youre a mason?
Yep, started playing with sand and cement when I was 19. Worked concret with my pa. He pushed me into a brickie apprenticeship in 84. November of 16 is the last time I picked up a trowel. Thank god for a pension. That's all she wrote folks.

If you're smart you don't have to work that hard and still spend a lot of time with the fam. Just don't lose sight of the prize. Live simply but well.

Grandpa was a mason, dad knocked up mama at 19. Then dad became a mason lol. I cant tell you when i started because i dont remeber that far back but you get the idea. Thank God the buck stops here though. You'll get this im sure lol, i hit something with my fist hammer style yesterday and it hurt like hell. I was like what happened to my hands of stone? More like hands of arthritis haha. And im only 39...

True. We’ve talked a lil about it but other than the emphatically telling new guys there’s one way of doing things, it’s his thread so let it be is the way I look at it. But yea. I do think it’s out of hand how it’s gotten.
Way i see it is its a public forum. No owners of threads. Just thread starters. I dont refer to it as "my thread" it our thread

Thats what happened. I was looking so hard at the finish line i forgot to run the race. I try like hell to give them what i didnt have but we had what was more important growing up. We had time to spend with each other. Lifes most precious commodity is time. And ive been giving mine away for way less than it's worth to me. Thank God i realized it before it became a regret.
