i left a little more meat on mine and buried it up to the leaves in a 1 gal pot,the damn thing is standing straight out right now were the leaves were laying over when i planted it

You might get lucky . These pineapples can handle some cold especially once they root. I keep em in the house till they root. Those pineapples were so damn sweet. I'll definitely keep em going every year.
