heya buddy did you premoisten your soil with proper ph’d water? Did you leave it sit in a warm spot to get the temperature to the ambient temperature? When you water do you monitor your water temperature? These are some of good habits I’ve been using for quite sometime now. It prevents shock. Root zone temps are very important as well. The one thing I don’t like about fabric pots is there’s no holes in the sides of them. I like to drill out 1 in holes about 1.5-2 inches above the bottom of my plastic pots at about 6 spread out around the pot that way I can stick my finger in there and monitor how much moisture is in the bottom of the pot as well as top. Yeah good practice to pre moisten the soil. I'm not a very experienced soil grower by any means but I feel I do have a good grasp on the knowledge and plants in general. Also seen more than a few grows and watering issues.

Good good they may droop for a bit. If they start perking up in an hour or 2 they have been under watered. Now it's just as important to keep them warm. What are the temps?

thanks, I did not really premoisten the soil besides giving it some spraying with my spray bottle. The soil has likely been too dry. Sometimes when I’ve been watering I scrape off the top wet soil and it’s completely dry beneath. Is this the soil absorbing the water and preventing much from getting down to the middle of the pot?

Tent temp is about 70- 72.The garage is about 57. It’s heated but I’m not allowed to turn up the temp much ( girlfriend already doesn’t like the electric bill going up) it will warm up soon the polar temps are stopping in Vermont soon and it will warm up again. I will do what I can for temps tonight. I will try to elevate the pots off the ground with some foam if I can get it today. When the lights go out that’s when I think the damage is done.

Dry dirt is a sponge... It will wick the moisture away until it's saturated. So by saturating it all it will balance the moisture itself. Dry areas will pull from wet and balance the moisture. The only way to get a uniform moisture level is water it all.

Get the temps into the 80s if ya can. 72 is to low. You can't have good results in poor conditions.

I'm not trying to be pushy just trying to get your grow on track and be very real with you. Contrary to what people say it's not a weed and doesn't grow well if not in good conditions.

Noted. I agree it’s not an easy plant. So just to be clear I will get them off the ground and try to raise the temps a bit. Also I will start to REALLY water and get super saturated and a good amount of runoff. Hopefully it perks them up a bit and I’ll update when I get back home in a few hours. For the little seedlings that are starting to sag, I watered them with runoff yesterday and they seem to still be declining. I think that might be the cold. Any thoughts on the seedlings?

It probably has dry spots in it but if you do as aqua man recommended to you you should be able to get your soil moisture even. Hang in there things will turn around for you.

Use a heat lamp 100w Cheap and adds a lot of warmth to a small area. With your lights on of course. If it gets too hot put it on a timer 1/2 hr on 1/2 hr off. I use them over a heater that can use too many amps. Even an incandescent light will add heat.

Cold is a killer with cannabis. It will really stunt growth.

In terms of watering. Overwatering is not watering to much, it's watering to often as @Jimster pointed out (not the same for coco growers).

Now that it's watered thoroughly you need to wait until the soil moisture is low like 20-30% of saturated before watering thoroughly to run off again. Temp will play a big role in how often you need to water. Water temp increase the plants ability to uptake water and also increase natural evaporation.

One thing you can do and this is a rough guide for new growers only is weight the pot filled with dry soil then weight the pot after saturation. Take the weight difference say 2lbs and when it weighs 30% of that number water again. Eg. For this 0.66lbs you would water again.

This is a guide not a rule and will depend on pot size vs plant size but it will get you close enough to make the adjustments by reading the plants and it's better then not having a clue.

THEY ARE PERKING UP!

foam is in 2in thick, and they have been drenched. All pots gave runoff. I hadn’t done it before with the big fabric pots and as a result I don’t think I was reaching the rootmass effectively. I’ll post pics below and some for comparison of what it looked like earlier today.

Those inexpensive oil-heaters work really well and are not that expensive to run. They help make the temps consistent since they present a large thermal mass that heats and cools rather slowly. And they are way safer than most other consumer heater designs although still you have to be mindful about shock hazards with water presence.

I used one ( no longer needed in my area ) to keep the baseline at 70 minimum in conditions like you describe:

It’s a heated garage so I’m turning up the heat for now and I have 2 inches of insulation foam for the floor . It will warm up spring is springing up in VT still. My ski mountains just got a foot of snow.
