Picked up a little hand held microscope. Still need to figure out how to get clear pics but here are a few shots of the trichs.
Quick question why aren’t you worried about salt buildup? Are you using a weekly flush like recommended? It seems every couple of days I find something that I believe may be done differently so I just haven't posted.
I mix my solution in 2 gallon batches which when using the formula on this site requires a dilution of another 2 liters or close to achieve the PPM of ~650. I consistently mix to a PH of ~6.0. Base is RO water. After reading your post I raised the PPM to 1000 and kept the PH at 6.0. I have been doing an odd pattern of fertigation that is changing today. But here is what I have been doing.
After doing this for 2 weeks I have a consistent runoff. The leaves still are yellowed but the brown spotting has stopped. I trimmed the plant of any badly damaged leaves so that I could feel confident any new spotting would be quickly noticed. Runoff is typically 50-80% in a 7 gallon pot. I have felt this was high compared to what others report. For this reason I have not been fertigating twice daily. However, I no longer believe this is the correct response.
- I fertigate with this 1000 PPM mix at 2 liters once per day
- I fertigate at 12 hours into the period with 2 liters of RO water and 5ml of CalMag (but only every other day)
- The period following the extra CalMag dose I drain the pan, wash it with soap and clean out everything. Do the normal fertigation of 1000 PPM mix at 2 liters. Measure runoff, PPM and PH.
My PPM in the runoff has risen to ~460 and PH of the runoff is 5.7-5.85. This is with the 1k PPM primary solution I described earlier. My lower leaves seemed to have regained some dark green but I did not think this was possible. I assumed this was an irreversible event?
Starting this period I have moved to a 1125 PPM solution and a PH of 5.96 I am using the recipe from the General Hydroponics site but filling in with the ingredients unique to this site. I modified to 7ml of CalMag per gallon for this new period. I found it odd that without any adjustment my PH was 5.96. Checked it 3 times in fact. Total yield was 2 gallons with no dilution neccessary.
I am moving to a new schedule of bi-daily watering with 2 liters of solution. I have eliminated the CalMag only fertigation. Just twice a day every day with the 1125 PPM. Because my runoff PPM is still so low at around 460 I feel that I am not wasting the nutrients nor am I in danger of any type of salt buildup.

That post you quoted was quite a while back in the grow. Since then I have went to a PPM of 680-740 and thats been consistent for quite a while. I do a flush about every 4 weeks and the last one was a couple of weeks ago. I probably will not do it again before final flush and harvest which I expect to be 2-3 weeks. Forgot to add that my fertigation events are 6 liters twice a day with 20-30% runoff.
I got to a point where I felt like I could see when salt buildup was becoming a problem and flushing then. I don't know that I would do it this way in the next run. This was a weird one because it was my first every try at growing in coco or hydroponics of any kind. The flu problem caused a delay in shipping everything and I had to extend the veg cycle to ridiculous lengths. That's how I ended up with the Hedge of Doom growing method lol. That plant has been in that 7 gallon fabric pot for a very long time. I can't even hardly push stakes in at this point. I am sure that has skewed things too.
Ya I’m in coco for first time and luckily have had decent luck. I flush weekly though. I’m much more familiar growing in hydroponic buckets. I had to run a portable a/c in my tent for about 2 weeeks in the hottest part of the summer. Had some heat stress issues. I’m about 3 weeks away. Strain is Double White
Ya super cropping is the shit but you can stress out you plant pretty good. My next grow I’m knocking them over at 4 foot and netting them down see if I can maximize. Only 4 plants are legal hereNice spread on that plant. I should have defoliated more. I am sure that will hold back the yield and bud development.
Digging that Purple Urkle... great grow sirThe big day 60 of flower and so far not much cloudiness in the trichs on the Purple Urkle but the buds are the most dense I have ever seen. So hard that when you bump into them in the tent they feel like a branch. Its starting to show its name with more pronounced purples. Had to bump up to 2 gallon feedings twice a day to get good runoff. Changed the mix around for the last time eliminating silicone and heavily bumping up phosphorous and potassium. Nice aroma with lots of berries.View attachment 1038046View attachment 1038045
