This has been sorta my approach of late, at least half of it anyhow. Using dry amendments, but I still like supplementing and replenishment though using a liquid. Like worm casings or kelp for instance. I have both solid and liquid forms of each, use the solids for making the soils, and the liquids late in flower for replenishment once things are far along.

Maybe If I was using bigger pots it wouldn't need to be done this way, but with the 1->3 gallon cloth pots I use, it's a really dense root ball toward the end, and they require maintenance.
I’d love to talk to you about specific amendments you use.

I have found that plants fertilized closer to only their needs and harvested a nice medium green healthy color tend to have the best flavor and potency. And right out of the drying closet mostly smooth tasty smoke.

And i always will remember what my friend the breeder at ch9 said when i was a new grower.

He speaks french primarily and spanish and maybe other european language but a little rough on english.

He said. “Little yellow ok”.

Yea, that's what I've really been focusing on of late Mimed, flavor and taste. I really think diet effects it in a very big way, so trying to dial in some of these new things to try and see if I can improve flavor even more. I'm looking for those pungent smells.

See i have been thinking about this and I'll share because I know.... you are just dying to here my thoughts on it lol.... hahaha.

I'm thinking I may not do the 48 hr dark and not do the flush as much this grow. Im thinking the extra starches and sugars during cure will lead to a higher more robust terpene content during curing.

I will say that the smoke will likely be harsher and shit until curing has taken place. So yes reducing the overall starches and sugars can make for a crap tasting bud that dried but not cured. But I feel like if you cure it well it will lead to a more flavorful, aromatic and possibly overall more potent bud that's still smooth as a babies butt.

Just thoughts but I'm going to give it a go.

The only thing is if you fuck the dry and cure you may be left with some shitty bud.

And with that, make hash or edibles.

I am taking the opposite approach i think. When i compared additives like botanicare sweet or simply molasses i think it imparted a sour flavor. Covering up the plants flavor (and smell) a bit. And now that i finished thise plants with foliage pro rather than the botanicare pure blend pro i was using i think the pbp also may have lended a sourish similar flavor across all the plants. Not sure why but it could have to do with the processing method they use to get organic nutrients plant soluble.

Not that the flavor or smell was bad with the pbp. On the contrary the outdoor farmers here were conplimenting my stuff on flavor and smell and the indoor comenting on how it was more like outdoor. Which i will take. :-)

But with the foliage pro the individual flavor and smell of each different plant is even more apparent and “cleaner” and “more pure” in my opinion with no overlaying flavor or smell. I have heard growers say they can smell and taste botanicare before but i thought its the sweet and flush products. Maybe not.

i have a lot of practice ahead but i am excited to get the full dyna grow line and start mixing some bloom in when appropriate and see if a dose of the mag pro with the high sulfer will make a difference over my well water alone.

And no doubt the silica from the protekt bottle grows a stronger yet more flexible plant. We will see if the stronger branches hold more weight too. ;-)

Anyhoo...

To comment on your last part about curing. I think a well grown and dried slow enough flower can taste pretty great up front and even smoother and more flavorful jar burped properly with some time.

But i do not think over fed harsh tasting weed improves much from the jar time like is said so often.

Just to add here. My take on this is less nutes. Less additives. Less heat.

More smell and flavor.

Oh no I don't mean over fed. Just healthy light green maybe a touch of fade. Not the yellow moderate to extreme senescence we often see.

My outdoor plant just kind of paled with a bit of yellowing but not much. I thought I was doing something wrong because it wasn’t fading as much as others I’ve seen. The bubba kush has zero fade right now.

Yea, actually this last time I've left them in the pots so far, but set them by the dehumid, I took them away for a bit, but there still very green so I put them back there today. Anyhow, the flushes I use are very minimal, (just end pure watering) I never "flush" anything really anymore, at least not in the way I used to, with copious amounts of water and surfactants. I still use the surfactants, I just do minimal pure water flushes, depending on how the plant reacts, then add more sugars. I'm going earlier on the sucrose doses next time around, (doing it in week 3-4 right now)I think that's probably a big key with flavors. I don't think the flush is all that necessary TBH, as long as there's not a lot of salt buildups, or excessive crap to be absorbed.

I really think the sugars and the microbes are a big part of it. I also think this sugar gives the buffer more capacity, and it' probably alters some of the viscosity, boiling point, freezing points, it's probably got some "surfactant" qualities of it's own. Altering fluid dynamics.

Sugar surfactants have superior foaming and excellent washing capability with high surface activity.
I also am giving replenished amounts of calcium carbonate, magnesium sulfate, humics/fluvics and the glycerin baths. I think keeping those fluids full of flavors and biologically active compounds will really help the flavor factor, if I'm right.

When I was a kid, we used to grow water mellons below our pond at the farm, and took a fire hose and flooded the garden with it, those watermelons were the sweetest melons I've ever eaten. Fish shit = Microbes = big flavors.

Yeah I mean a plant is gonna do what its going to do but I think I'm gonna go back to looking for a healthy plant at harvest and not look for any fade in the fans. If it happens no big deal but I want a nice light green plant at harvest. Then a nice controlled cure to convert those sugars and starches to terps.

How is the fan leaf....whatever getting to the buds? Or are you using that as an indicator for something I'm lost on?

I just mean instead of trying to get the plants to fade at the end, im going let them stay healthy and green all the way. Likely no flush and just a reduction in ppm as I used to and no dark period that will help pull the starches and sugars from the plant to the rootzone.

This is something I feel will increase the terpenes over a good cure but not something I'm willing to say works as I suggest. So try at your own risk because it will be months before I get to try it.

You will have no problems with healthy & green all the way using Megacrop :) I believe you said you were this grow.
