Just wanted to post a little update.... Seems that pulling the wilting one has helped the growing one. She's been getting WAY too bushy (and I can't cut her since she's an auto and will take longer and hurt yeilds) but that's a good thing right??

But, I'm noticing some odd yellow spots on some of the leaves. Didn't find anything under the leaves so don't know. Hope someone can help...

Day : 51 since Germ
rH: 60-70%
Temp: 67night - 76F day
Water temps: about 68- 70F with hudroguard
Ph: 5.5-6.5
Ec: 600s

Well done sir! She looks wonderful! Two things; first the yellow spots, it could be several things. Most likely cal/mag but you may want to wait until more develops to be sure. Myself and some others have found that most Cal/Mag as listed on the bottle is too weak. Next, you may want to clean up her skirts. Start trimming up the leaves from the bottom. Leave some room for the air to get up into the branches. As thick as those leaves are, you are going to need fairly direct air movement within to prevent bud rot and mold IMHO.

btw; what is the strain? I like its structure and if the smoke is as formal, it should be awesome. šŸ» šŸ„‚

Strain is Green HeadBand (further up has more info)

She's an autoflower so I'm a little hesitant to cut. She's just kind of started to more to her flowering stage so I'm a little worried about cutting anything. I've been told that if I cut I can stunt growth and yeild. I';m worried about bud rot as well with my current situation, just going to have to figure it out i guess right ? :-)

Spots: It could be Cal/mag as the newer leafs look to be fine. I have been using the dosage cycle found here (I'm on week 7 starting tomorrow . . .

There are pros and cons to both. I happen to run two 40 gallon rez each with two plants. While it is true that you can treat them as individuals, you have much more time and lattitude in making adjustments and mistakes. Make a mistake measuring your nutes in a 5 gallon bucket will cause damage a lot faster than in a 40 gallon rez. I you lose one air stone, you don't lose the plant. You water temps, alk and ph are much, much easier to maintain because of the shear volume of water. As a beginner i appreciated the slack (i made, and still make a shit-load of mistakes), and over time just figured out how to work with it. Yes it takes more nutes on setup, but after that you are still add nutes to your top-off water. I try and make sure the two plants are at least the same species. Even that does not assure you that the plants will be the same or even grow the same way (unless they are clones of course).

Your plants look fine. Even if one falters it is worth the education value to try and nurse it to harvest (even if you never smoke it).

To each his own, if it works for you; go for it! Ask lots of questions and we here at The Farm will try to help you make it happen!! šŸ» šŸ˜Ž

Totally agree which was my first reason for doing the 48 quart res. I should have done 2 of the same strain but was trying to have something diff to smoke.

TBh, I won't be doing autos again.

I thought it would be fun but I feel like I still have way better control if I manage the light cycle and such.

I can see in certain situations they can beneficial but for me ... Nope

lol, well that may be true for some. However i have been growing autos for almost two years now and only three different strains. However; in my case trimming never hurt the height or the yield. These two Auto Trainwreck plants were trimmed up at just over 6 weeks. The top photo aisof the same plant 6 weeks later bending the main cola on the light inside a 2x4x6 cabinet. šŸ˜Ž šŸ‘ The Scrog is at 21 inches.

Welp, I'll be going ahead and trimming off some fan leaves to make room for air flow and light. I already got plates on the bottom covering the hydroton too so no light it getting into the container.

Any pointers for the trimming? I was figuring focusing only on fan leaves, but should it be only specific Fan leaves? Should I also cut a little everyday for like 3 days or do all the trimming in 1 night?

I won't lie, it is going to hurt ā˜¹ šŸ˜¢ but it really for the best. The lowest branches will never bear buds that are "in the light" and will get blocked out by the branches above. The goal is to cut away anything that is not going to contribute to the final product. Why feed it, if it is not doing any good? You will want to trim the inside as well. Again it is about light. If it is not receiving enough light, cut it.

Oh, and be slow and deliberative about it, don't just whack away or you will do something like cut the base of a great bud that "was going to awesome "šŸ˜ Cut a little, step back look, cut a little more; If you are using LST (most people are training to some extent) then you are waiting anyway.

Old rule taught to me, never trim more than 40% in one trimming or you may put the plant into shock. So if you got leafs the size of your hand well that takes a big % And as said before itā€™s about light so look around to see whatā€™s blocking bud nodes to get them open to light and growth

Yes I would "take it easy" on the trimming. Just a little bit- maybe every OTHER day. It's (as you say) an Auto, so try hard not to Shock it. Time, is on your side. Pretend you're Michaelangelo, painting the Sistine Chapel. Don't hurry.

With that incredibly dense foliage you've got, it's obvious you should start from the bottom. Those fan leaves at the bottom will never see any light, anyway. All they'll do is suck the plant's energy away from the buds.

I'll be doing some trimming tonight and will do more every other day till she's right.

Thanks for all the help guys! I really appreciate it.

When trimming, should I cut the entire brand to the main stem for the leaves I'm cutting off? I would think yes, but just making sure.

Different strokes, for different folks. I trim to the stalk or main branch. šŸ˜Ž
