I have run sealed rooms for several years using living soil to produce the majority of my rooms CO2 from start to finish. The only times I need gas is later in flower when I don't want to add any extra Nitrogen.

Idk imo you would need so much compost and microbial respiration processing nutrients that the soil would be way to hot to grow in. Yeah you can make soil produce good amounts but I have an extremely hard time believing you can produce enough in a sealed room for a grow... don't forget that the plant respiration is a huge part and even in living soil the amount of microbial respiration i cannot see enough to support this not unless there are so much organic nutrients being broken down that the soil will be hot as fuck.

When thise ppl are talking about soil respiration the plant respiration is included and they consume and hold onto a shit ton of carbon. I just don't see it at all

I have been making friends on this subject for years. Not sure why Soil Respiration creates such animosity. Best of luck quitting smoking dirtbag. Room looks good. Best thing I ever did was quit those things but hard as shit to accomplish.

Its not animosity. I'm asking you to show it and explain it... why is it whenever you question something and ppl can't answer they call it animosity or aggressive... im asking for an explanation because I don't see this as possible simply from soil mixes. Yes you can take certain concentrated fungi or yeast and sugar and do it... but I dont feel the soil we grown in living or not is adequate

Now I'm asking you do you even know how thise microbes break down nutrients?

Do you understand the difference of respiration and processing of nutrients by microbes?

It is animoisty. People don't understand soil respiration so they attack it. Happens every time.


I have found that using menafee humates along with peat and coco supplies high carbon. You add the Nitrogen and Phos and you control the growth of microbes. You can do this yourself if you want proof.
The reason I ask is why is it so hard to understand if you know what they consume. They are mostly carbon.

I'm gonna question your statement as you say you run a sealed room and only supplement co2 late flower but post #13 seems to show you set your co2 ppm to 800 on your thread?

Like I said the more organic nutrients the more respiration and to be adequate enough the soil would end up being to dam hot....

Your taking pieces and putting them on the table but failing to complete the puzzle.

Yes they contribute and yes I understand soil respiration ut no I do NOT believe you can produce enough co2 in living soil to run a sealed room. Even if they produce 2000ppm of co2 a typical room will ear that up in an hr

Congrats on the cigarette thing. About 15 years ago i had a heart attack, cold turkey and haven't had a cigarette since.

Other than that black hash Jimmie a couple years ago I'm clean.

If you want to quit you will, if you don't want to you won't.

Yeah I have seen that. 50% organic makeup.... that huge plus an 8x8 room with 200-300gal of soil.... I can see that but its also not all soil respiration but plant respiration.

I would be curious to see the size, number and health of those plants.
