I can afford the blue lab. I’m just bitter. And nothings working out. I finally bit the bullet. Found a good price $119cad. Ordered online. they didn’t ship. So I cancelled. Went to grow store. They would match their price. Had none in stock. It’s gonna be a week.

I’m trying to get one

Canadian Growers Supply will match prices and i've had good prices.

Thank you. I appreciate that.

looking ahead in the next few weeks.

How does my water change work? when do I know to change it?

Any other small details I should know?

does the water need to sit bubbling in a separate res for a few days to evaporate chlorine?

obviously don’t want to temp shock the roots. What’s the max temp swings roots like?
Does your municipal water supply have chloramine? Many use it and it's a bit more difficult to purge, you'd need a KDF filter.

I know this is your first DWC grow, but didn’t you mention growing in soil previously? Do you not have some tools from previous grow(s)?

“Liebig’s ‘Law of the Minimum’, which states that a plant’s health will always be held back by the nutrient that it has the least of in relation to its needs, even if every other nutrient is at optimal levels.”

that’s what I’m worried about. It’s gonna either be lacking in something before the top up or in excess of something afterwards. No?

Yes that why you change the res after adding back the volume of water equal to the res. It ensure that your ratios never drift out of range over time.

is it me, or do they look worse then before?

you’re right. I agree. They have about 2 leaves die per die and only grow .25. So overall death is catching up.

they went in on dec 25th. It’s been almost 2 weeks ffs. Still no signs of growth or roots out of the bottom. Ppm also doesn’t seem to be going down... is that not a concern? Roots clearly aren’t doing anything haha

I did have 10 slurricane seeds show up that are sitting here... waiting to go...

You say your system was down to 510ppm in the example... 510ppm of what? Is this where nutrient deficiencies and burns come into play?

Maybe that’s the nutrient ratio that you’re referring to?

Also. In your example. You say your res went down 3.5 gallons. How did you determine this? How are you measuring water loss in your system?
You have a rough guess or you can mark them. A 5 gal buck usually is about 3.5 gal of actual water.

The ppm is made up of all your nutrients in the ratios recommend by the manufacturer. So the best way to make sure you have the proper ratios is to take say 1 gal and mix your nutrients in order as recommend by the manufacturer. Then add plain water to dilute to the ppm you want. This way no matter the ppm the nutrient ratios remain the same.

don't use your new seeds in hydro until your problem is fixed first. No point of dropping another seed in hydro while you got this issue. on the other hand, you are going from soil to hydro with these plants and i kid you not, i've walked this road and it never worked.

is currently the ppm going up on just at the same level?
did you mark a line to see if water decreases?

your plants in hydro aren't dead yet, don't give up on them

They will continue to look worse... only pay attention to new growth... this won't get fixed over night...not even close. It all depends on if the plant is going to make new roots... this takes time. It will not produce much new growth until it has a root system to do so... just like clones

The ppm won't do much of anything with no roots.
