Will grab some pics maybe later... on page 39 of 233 for some 🍄 learning have some golden emperors on the way.
Ahh shit, need to get my arse in gear.
I'll have to check the side project fund and see how much the gear to do it comes to. Tbf it's not an expensive hobby either once you've git the bits nd bobs to get started. Pretty low maintenance too from what I read. Exciting stuff mate, hope I manage to get started in time to follow along.

Here's your price list in USD:

1. Pressure cooker/autoclave (not a fucking instapot): $80 - $100
2. wild bird seed: $10
3. spores: $15 (or free if you want a print, drop a DM in a couple months)
4. rubbermaid/sterilite tote: $12
5. coco/horse poop: $5 or free
6. random accessories/necessities: $30-$50

Then, a few hours of reading and patience. It's pretty easy. Hell, I couldn't successfully grow weed until I grew my first crop of mushrooms. Then everything changed.

I just boiled my jars of seed and coco in a big pot of water.

Wondering how necessary a pressure cooker is? Boiling not ok? Still reading on this.

Also so far thinking coco/cow manure heat sterilized also.

No i totally agree with you on that. Most baking happens around 3-350f and the thc will decarb once it starts going over 220 or so. Ive done a TON of baking with raw bubblehash and never had to decarb it before baking with it. And we were lab testing the final product as well.

But decarbing the extract is still more efficient on the large scale to just add to stuff. And double decarb wont kill it, but it will dull the effect if its done too hot for too long.
Just remember that the temp you are cooking at is not the internal temp of the baked good. And that seldom gets over 212 F. I’m not arguing.

For sure gonna need a pressure cooker. You can do pftek with small jars of brf and vermiculite using a water bath canner. But to do grain spawn and bulk substrates youre gonna want a pressure canner for sure.
And personally Id stick to straight coir for cubes. Other strains its helpful or necessary to use manure in the substrate but its not necessary at all for golden emperor, and can leave ot a lot more at risk of infection.

Totally true. And im not sure why but it seems to decarb just fine. We only really ever made brownies and cookies using oil and never decarbed it first.

Half way through this. Insta pot won't do for what reason? If you happen to know?

Hmm, my guess would be its too small. It might be ok for doing a few small jars, maybe?, but itll need to hold enough water to PC at 15psi for 2hrs. With mine i have to use 3 qt of water just to make it the full 2 hrs Not sure an instapot will hold that plus your jars.

Hmm yeah its only 6 quart.

Still haven't figured out how to do a larger Bedard not just cakes. Or is that possible? I do have a vacuum sealer and can do bages of the stuff. I figure cutting out a window and sealing with parafilm tape for breathability?

What do you mean, how to pasteurize/sterilize the larger beds?
The way ive been doing it is just pasteurizing the bulk substrate in a pot on the stove. But most people just use the bucket tek if youre just using coir and vermiculite.

But you will need a pressure canner for sure. Even to do cakes youll need something bigger than a 6qt instapot. pftek cakes can be done with a water bath canner but im not sure about using cultured agar with pftek... Thats normally a spore syringe tek.

I still have some reading to do since I don't fully understand... I'll finish reading first before I bombard anyone with stupid questions.

You can get a pressure cooker dirt cheap in the UK, it was a staple on the kitchen for my grandparents generation. You can pick them up second hand fur next to nothing. I have a new tote and coco. Doesn't leave much to get when you list it like that. Cheers fur offer if a print I may take you up on it depending how quick (or slow the case may be) I can get set up. Spores shouldn't be a problem as they're legal in the UK to study, I'm pretty sure it's only dry mushrooms or at least "prepared for consumption" that are controlled. Jars and scalpels etc etc are all easy buys online. In fact the more I write, the more I'm convincing myself how quick I could get going 😁.

The pressure canner beluga recommends is the 23qt presto. Mine is 21qt, I wouldnt want to go any smaller than that.
Mine has no pressure guage either.

PC's are getting harder to find used apparently. flu boredom led to people prepping more or something. I managed to score one used though from a buddy.
