A very funny story........back in 2013, my plants were developing an issue. Here is a pic from my problem plants over at RIU.

Lifting the light up has done squat sshz..going to have heaps of branches like the sweet zombie.i cant get over how these lights keep em low like they do..

I'm watering about every 3-4 days......... with the added perlite this time, it's flooding the room each I do though.

I'm back to thinking about hanging two hps 600 watters, along with the LED's in veg and see how that works out. It sucks they stay short, but the branches are thick and make it easy to hold weight. Next crop I'll temporarily remove the UV'B's and hang the hps's there as a boost- I truely believe that will take care of the issue. I have 1000 watters too but that would be too much in that room.

Actually, I may hook up the dimmers and run them 50% (645 watts/2= 323) +600 watts per hps could be too much. I'lll need to think more about it.

I have your solution guys... I found out by mistake.... feed em a small amount of massive or other thats has triacontanol in it.... they stretch like mad.

Tell me that doesn't look f*ck up........ LOL Everyone one of my plants had this issue. Of course, no one had seen it before but everyone ventured a guess- you name it, they guessed it from bugs and catapillers, to hereditary, to light burn and on and on. It took me a week to figure it out- this is what too much silica will do to your plants.

At the time, I was using Pro-Tekt Silica, which everyone was using at the time. Somehow I ended up using like 4x the recommended amount. Not sure how it happened, I was probably in a very fucked up state but you are seeing the result. I also found Pro-Tekt to be VERY strong and when I use silica now, I use the Botanicare version which is recommended at 2ml per gallon. I usually use just 1ml to be safe.

I had to look up triacontanol (never heard of it) and can assure you I've never used it and that wasn't the issue.

Imo the only way to combat the squat is PGR or supplemental red lighting. You would have to cut intensity a shit ton to endure stretch and I feel that will negatively affect the grow

Something gavita could look into is adding some red? To get a little stretch..

I'm still wondering if the way to go is HPS is veg and LED in flower.............. if i can control the heat properly, adding the HPS won't cause any issues and may help some. If it gets to hot, I'll just pull them out of there. I'll think about it all again late night tonight and figure out a plan of attack for tomorrow.

Gavita has the links to my threads and I know they are reading them, as I communicate with a customer service buddy there. This is not a major problem, and is easily solved with an extra week of veg. It's just another thing to get used to though, and remember- RESULTS ARE EVERYTHING!

Ya. I have added a week to veg since switching from gavita hps to LED.
just an LED thing that happens. You seem to be rushed? Guess that happens when you got a quota to fill. Are you using the gavita controllers? Your running 100% balls out?

@sshz hope ya don't mind me posting this in your thread. Since your on the topic and get alot of views mulders chart is a good resource on nutrient interactions for trouble shooting.

It's all about ratios, ratios are the single most Important thing with nutrients. Please don't respond in @sshz thread if you have a question on it unless he comments and says so as o don't wanna derail his work.

Antagonistic nutrients have a negative effect on the uptake of other nutrients. Possibly you have seen that an excess of Phosphorus (P) creates an imbalance with Iron (Fe) and Zinc (Zn)? Some nutrients do the opposite and their presence has a positive effect on the uptake of other nutrients...

If I do them tomorrow, it's only 2 weeks and may not be a reasonable test or evaluation. I think before deciding I'll get down and dirty with the plants tomorrow and see how they are developing off the main stem. Then decide.....
