Hey DHF, do you know where Heath's been hiding? Wish he was allowed to hang here. He totally inspired my move to vertical when I first started. Mad respect for his skills and willingness to help folks. Very much like DDS.

He's at rollitup. But he hasn't been posting much lately, I guess now we know why.

Hey north, almost forgot you had your dds setups! lol

We need to get your show back in full force, buddy. I think you are the first to showcase a full mpb system? LOL You pulled up in the bandwagon and the rest of us have jumped in :)

There has got to be others that have started already and not posted. Would love to hear from other people and their trials.

I am not argumentative I am opinionated. Pumping liquid with no nutes just dilutes and stop chem reactions. You can pump up the ppm levels with a good sys but you get less. I had my bp up at 1600 ppm and peaked at 1800. I noticed I had healthier grows in my aero systems. Krusty was past his peak when he was with the kbser's(the whole 3 weeks he lasted) Tomato growers can pump up the ppms. They have thousand of cycles under their belt, They are not running 2 day flushes. You want your plants to tell you what to feed them. When you lose the yellow/green growth in your top shoots you have done something wrong. Most need to just back off on the ppms to get the color/growth back. I call it chasing the gold. Krusty's main premise was no stressing the plant. I do not see how yo-yoing a plant like that caused no stress. Look at the flowers you have seen that look and taste the best then, look to the grower. Ask him what he runs. The growers I admire the best all use lower 1000-1200 levels. A constant level feeding program is best for a plant in my experience. Pouring a bunch of crap in for 5 days then taking 2 to get rid of the excess does not make sense in my experience. Now if you have some beaster that shows explosive growth and has that color and you are feeding it 1600 ppm I say go for it. I just have not run into that strain yet.
I run my nutes till I have replaced 90% add back. That is about 4-5 days in flowering with a reserve of 4 gal per plant. Every other week unless my plants tell me otherwise I will flush my buckets with 5 gal for pH water. This has nothing to do with the levels inside a plant. After the rinse and spray I drain and fill my rez with a new batch of nutes. No change in brix or pH in the plant. Any of you have a refractormeter, or a cardy pH flush your plants for 2 days and look at what happens.
So I gave you my opinion on that argument and a way to test and disprove my theory.
I have killed many plants not being a blind follower, but I have learned a few things from my school of hard knocks. I always have more then 1 rez running in my room so every grow is a side by side experiment of some sort. Suerte JK
And for that cheap shot deadheadfred I encourage everyone to build their own if they need to save money, spending hours doing so. And I have not spent a dime on me from my tanks, all proceeds go back to my patients. These tanks have helped me grow free for 2 years, and we thank those who we have helped along the way.

I am going to build a MPB for my next run. 10' ceilings. Then maybe do a tripple vert in my next project room with 14' ceilings.

you gotta figure theres nutes locked up in those lavarocks that break free and get eatten.

as you can see the kola is hitting the ceiling, i bought a step ladder and tied them down to the top of the cages.

the cages are supported with zip ties to the top of the res, they arent moving. I cut one off and lift the corner of the lid to peep the roots. they look sexy as shit.

Hell yeah, dizzle! No pressure or anything, but we're all watching you, bro! lol

I'm not sure about everyone else, but this is extremely exciting to see how things are unfolding for those involved. At minimum, we're gonna gain a little knowledge...at the expense of us early adopters :) lol! Can't put a price on experience that's for sure.

You can read all you want and over-analyze every detail, but till you take the dip and try it...you're just a spectator :) lol i'm tired of watching and ready to take the plunge!

We gotta have a little fun at all this. You take the fun out and it's all work.

its different waiting for this crop to finish 1.) because it can go sour at any time, pretty exciting 2.) i have so much hope and emotion wrapped up in this system. I see more medicine on 5plants than i usually get in both of my rooms. this system, to me, isnt all about yeild, its more to do with having 5 plants. people debate whether this system is "worth" it or not, personally i dont know how you could put a price tag on your freedom, too bad krusty coined the phrase freedom buckets

It sounds like you want to set a new record...

Look into the new 1500w hps's and halides, up the size of the bins, and give more places to flow water with larger air and water pumps.

I heard its not.. The stuff will not support trees and its kinda like a sponge where the top dries out the the bottom is a soggy mess :)

They can be a bitch to deal with before hand too let me tell you.

Do yourself a big favor with lava and try to get it from a place where you aren't buying a bag half full of crushed little junk and sand. You want the pieces that are hydroton sized generally speaking, not the little bits and dust and even though hydroton needs rinsing too nothing can be such a pain in the ass as a cheap bag of lava from a place like home depot or lowes.

There are many places you can just take a shovel and some buckets and leave all that junk behind and make your rinsing much much easier.

BTW, saw bags of lava at walmart for decorative fire pits real cheap. Its big chunks you would have to break up...

thing i hate about lava rock is you can't scoop them, plus heavy as fuck. i use a plastic ice scooper for the clay balls, for some reason i really love that fact. if there were no cages then i can see lava to hold them steady. but those cages have those plants wrapped up tight. stems and roots have no stress

i will post some pics just before lights on today, day 30 of flower.

on a side note, everyone who is getting into vertical lighting, I just picked up some welding glasses with a 5.0 lens, and wow, what a difference. I had been using regular sunglasses but my eyes felt fucked everynight. these things are sick, you can look right at the bulb no problem. they also make a 3.0 shade lens that will prolly also work really well. they were $7 bucks and worth every cent your eyes will thank you

I have a question... I have the same size area as you and would be interested in doing this set up. First question is could you provide a parts list? Is there anything you would change and do differently about the pumps or any of the equiptment? or feeding schedule? Do you think a greater harvest would arise from five lights and four plants instead since there is equal amount of light distribution? Thanks I really appreciate it. I want to get this going now! I have most of the lights and the co2 set up already. All I need is a couple more lights and to build the system. Thanks in advance I really appreciate it.
