i think as i’ve dug two holes so far that one hole was sandy with clay, so that’ll be easier to penetrate through the other hole was pretty solid clay so i’d expect not much root penetration as i used that hole last year but a bit smaller and the plant was kinda short and narrow in height due to the hole size so this year i’ve doubled it in size..
so i don’t think it would get as big as growing in nicer soil in the ground.
many friends grew in their backyards in the ground, they say no clay at all and some plants where 10-15 ft tall..

The clay soil was pretty hard if I'm being honest with myself. I'm not expecting them to get huge now but luckily I still have the other 3. I'm going to try find the best softest soil possible near me. I want big plants

it’s definitely not too late to dig a bigger hole beside it than dig it up and transplant, it’ll be fine, i’ve had to do it before.
one plant got transplanted 3 times in 2 weeks, barely went through any shock if at all..

Just a quick chirp. If it is feasible you might want to consider percolating those new Holes before you fill them to see what kind of drainage you are dealing with. Maybe you already know. Just a thought. So far so good.

The bend looks quite aggressive for a short span to me anyways. I bend most of my plants slowly over about a 16 inch span using vinyl plant tape tied to a bamboo stake. As the plant grows you can adjust it

I think you’re safer going with a 45° bend. And bend them in the right direction to get the most sunlight to the most plant. Out here you bend them to the north. Rooke Has got it down.

Thanks Chuck I for got to mention that bending to the North is best for light exposure. I don’t top my plants as I want the mainstem trained to keep growing and the lateral branches get pulled outwards for the best exposure. It’s lst that very effective and easily done peace bro!!!!

Now I know what everyone was talking about 90° may be a bit much. Was just experimenting with my home plants and the main stalk is way to thick. Tried to put one on and definitely felt a little snap. It didn't break off or even break open at all but definitely felt it. I moved on to a different plant with smaller more flexible stalks. I have a feeling she's going to love it.

Your bigger ones you could probably slowly bend over to get more used to the shape before you put them in. A small break is okay, some people actually do small controlled breaks when they train and swear by it. I believe people call it "breaking/splitting the Hurd"

I've also seen somewhere that people sometimes do that on purpose so I wasn't too concerned about it but I left it alone to be safe. Maybe later I will go try it again. I used to use pipe cleaners on them but stopped. I wasn't sure if I should've continued doing it and it was a major hassle sometimes to deal with all the pipe cleaners. This was definitely smoother to work with. I still may order 45°.

I have used these for a while and like them for LST. (I purchased the HMG 35 pack for $15.50 and I think the 30 pack for $10 is a better deal.)
Massage the stem between your fingers in the area you want the bend before placement. Once the stem grows as you want, you can remove the bender and move it to another stem. The stem typically retains the bend and is strong.

I tried another type (white, flimsy and rather useless) and would go with these red ones again.

Wasn't someone printing these with a 3D printer?

How long do you think they would have to be on there before the stem would stay the shape I wanted? I just noticed the pipe cleaners was aggravating me and it was too good of a deal to not get it. I dont regret anything lol

I'm sorry you are having problems. First thing is not to panic, whatever problems you are having can probably be dealt with. There is a plethora of good reading in the grow FAQ section that could probably help you.

I couldn't say about the second one but clearly looks like something happened to the first. Did it get dried out? How has the temp been at your spot the last few nights? Any sign of burrowing rodents? I'm sure someone else can come up with more for you but those are the big ones that would make a plant look like that.
