I'll have to admit blue dream is a hardcore favorite for me also. Aside form it's obvious beauty, it's a real terp powerhouse.

I honestly think the terp profile in bluedream are dominate traits, and are not easily extinguished generation from generation....
It's a breeders dream... and a excellent cultivar for crossing, IMO.

In my mind, it's simply represents some of the strongest blueberry hints I've ever come across.

So this month just about marks a couple years that I've been growing. I've been reminiscing on the progress made over the last couple years, especially in terms of understanding genetics. To this point I've been focusing on building sample size and understanding how various genetics function, both in growth and on my physiology. Things are going to gradually be shifting more towards refining the unique things that have worked for me on some level to this point, though new stuff will still be dropped as well.

Kubanskiy was one of the first round of seeds that I ever dropped and she's finishing up, likely for the last time. The smoke is nice but the colas are barely thicker than my thumb, don't stretch much so the plant need to veg longer, and the bud structure is, for lack of a better term, awkward. Some strains (or phenos of them, the Lemon OG Kush loser was like that) seem to just stack naturally, most gracefully, and some seem to strain to stack at all.

Kubanskiy tends towards the latter in my experience, unfortunately. Both that and Siberian Haze were flipped in the middle of April so they're coming up on 9 weeks of flower this week. Kubanskiy is billed as an 8-9 week strain so it's already in prime cutting range (likely coming down today), while SH is billed at 10-11 weeks. Whether or not it justifies getting there is another story...

It's difficult to justify saving either with G13 Haze, G13 Hazeplant, Pipatxu, Valencian Haze, Haze x Kali China, etc. around. But as so often seems to be the case with this hobby, the juice has definitely been worth the squeeze. The knowledge juice of growing and working with different genetics and friends made along the way, that is. Shout out to all of the awesome people that have sent beans!

The Blue Power Mango and the Blueberry Amnesias are almost a month younger than the Kalashnikov stuff, are showing more trichome and terpene development, and already have thicker buds. Very excited to blaze those two. Blue Power Mango especially, since Mango is so genetically similar to SSH. It'll be interesting comparing that to strains like Silverfields, one of which should be cut right around the same time as both (roughly a month). BPM and Silverfields will get crossed with Ghash/Hazeplant once winners are found as well but that's, like, all down the road.

Now that the Blue Dream x ON Haze beans have popped, I'm very much hoping for a dude to cross with both itself and the Blueberry Amnesia (likely Zhe Pinch too, but that's another project). There are 6 of them, so hopefully a solid dude or two isn't out of the question.

My love of Blue Dream has never really been a secret, obviously- I've wanted to dive into those genetics and pheno hunt for a while- but the only Blue Dream I've grown has been from HSO (rip) and I let my clone of that go when G13 Haze came along. It was good enough but the smoke was pretty average compared to the Blue Dream I had on the East coast. I'm looking for that super loud cat pee and crazy glue with Boo Berry cereal and frankincense flavor with a high like getting head while drinking Champagne in a hot tub.

If I don't get a dude then I'll go back to the Blueberry drawing board and look for some obscure Blueberry like ESB or Blue Bonic to bring those genetics together.
Blue dream is just about my all time favorite.

Exactly! Como siempre, para siempre.

It's like if new, world-class types of wine grapes were invented every year, all over the world. It's not just a rabbit hole, it's a fuckin' wormhole. An all-encompassing, inescapable vortex.

Kubanskiy is up, rinsed, and hanging. Tp take its place, the more mature of the G13 Hazes will get flipped and topped later today. That is, once this last warhead of Heavy Grapefruit mixed with Moonshine Amnesia has worn off to the point where I'm ambulant again. HG is a very, very solid indica.

The first two Afghan females got repotted and their stems bent today. I'm not going to top them as I would usually do because that introduces an unnecessary variable, but I need to manage their height somehow. Once the next four have new homes I'll put the dudes back under 12/12 for pollen collection. To be completely honest, I'm not expecting much besides a decent, solid, stacky indica from this small of a Ghani sample size. I was hoping for roughly double this number of ladies, but germ rate shit happens. I doubt there's a keeper in these 11 or 12 plants, male or female. but I have a feeling there's a fuckin' unicorn to be found among their progeny.

...and I already have G13 Hazeplant pollen! 🥳🌨️ There are two dudes of roughly equal vigor so far, so if there's a winner he's TBD. They're both in the early stages of stretch, so there's a lot to learn and observe.

Regardless, those genetics will definitely get hit to the Ghash keeper, Haze (!), G13 Haze (or haze-less, as it were/is), Bubba Hash (the name for that cross just came to me: Ghazhbhazh!), Pipatxu, and Killer Colombian Lamb (actually the only one of those with any NL/Skunk in it- from C99, two paternal generations ago via Killer Queen) when the time comes. In addition, of course, to working that line further. Maybe also with Diesel Ghash, we'll see how those come along.
I did a search on this thread to see if there was a description of your pollen collection method. Maybe my search criteria sucked (pollen+collect in this thread), but I came up empty. How do you collect your pollen?

Holy shit! I'm sorry, I just saw this when coming to update the thread.

I collect the pollen in the tent with all fans off and the doors closed. Preferably that tent is in a room far away from any flowering ladies, and all doors between them are sealed.

In that tent, I:

1. Take a large, clean, smooth piece of paper and fold it in half lengthwise.
2. Tilt over the male and tap along the main stem, with the stem directly over the paper.
3. With a small paintbrush, brush all of the pollen away from the edges of the paper, towards the fold in the center. It'll start accumulating pretty quickly.
4. Gently tilt the pollen into its final container, preferably with silica packs to keep moisture away from the pollen
5. Store that container in another airtight container with silica packs. I'm using an old prescription bottle that's inside a mason jar with many small containers of pollen inside the pill bottle. All of the bottles have silica in them. I think one day for novelty's sake I'll switch to a nice Matryoshka set.
6. Keep that container in an area with a constant cool temperature to keep condensation from forming on the container.
7. Spray the air in and around the tent with a fine mist to kill any stray pollen.
8. Use within 3 months.

HUMIDITY IS THE ENEMY.

When it's babymaking time, I just take some pollen from the container (with a plastic milk cap or something), then take that and the ladies into a sealed room with no fans on. Little bitty paintbrush + milk cap of pollen + healthy white pistils = babies.

Two more (now dead) Hazes turned out to be males, as well as another lady. That's... actually all of them. The final count, 2 Haze ladies, 8 Hazey dudes with two of them being keepers. Normally I'd give them more of a chance to produce, but I can't really justify breeding with any dudes that get 3 feet tall in a tiny pot before showing sex.

That being said, it's actually kind of a relief because it gives me space to drop these Golden Tiger beans. The prospect of 5+ Haze ladies and 2-3 Golden Tiger ladies growing together for the next six months had me a bit nervous space-wise. Now it's a lot easier to cross the Haze keepers with the Golden Tiger and Orient Express keepers.

They'll probably go down tomorrow, in fact. As well as Blowfish [(G13 x Oregon Funk) x (G13 x Blue Dot)] because I will always love G13 crosses.

Gotta mix up another batch of soil tomorrow, too. Fill a few pots that are low, defoliate everything, repot some seedlings, might cut and start revegging the Supreme Lemon keeper, clean everything...

Thank you! My male is in a solo cup. It’s a very small plant. I’ve seen two little open sacs on the butcher paper I used underneath the branches themselves, but no visible pollen yet.

Even in a solo cup, that dude should be throwing plenty of pollen. That's what I reveg my keeper males in, actually. It'll be fine, just give it time.

That Supreme Lemon keeper got cut and taken to reveg-land today.

Yeah. It was just sorta screaming at me to be harvested today, so I obliged. It was really hard to get a good shot of the whole plant, so these will have to do. It's also pretty obvious why it's the keeper. That trichome coverage, how big they are, the top buds that were double the size of her sisters, stretch, and general vigor are outstanding. The lower branches, pollinated by Super Lemon Moon and Interstate Dragon, are revegging now as their seeds finish.

In other news, I defoliated ALL THE THINGS today. Gave the non-flowering ones the neem-glycerin-lacto fermented garlic (that smells like bologna- the awful lunchmeat, not the city) spray as well. Blowfish and Golden Tiger are going to get dropped right after this post, and then everything in the seedling tent is going to get hit with the bologna spray before the lights come on.

I've made some significant strides against the thrips in the last few weeks after letting them get out of control by not hitting them with the neem foliar and the PFR-97 frequently enough. Safer's End-All is good, but not totally effective without the others.

The second Ghani (B1 and B6) went into flower today to take the Supreme Lemon's spot. I didn't top either, but I did beat the shit out of the main stem on them to mitigate any potential stretch.

I have painted every pistil on the little female plant with pollen that became obvious to me in a photo with flash. Today there was more. I assume if the pistils turn brown and retreat within 24 hrs I’ve been successful? I don’t know that I’ll be successful collecting enough to send some to someone else. But I’ll try. Thank you for your help. I’m pretty much flying solo on this at this point and I’ve never done it before.

Yes in 1 or 2 days happens what you say after succesful pollination.
Pistils turn brown and after some more days they retreat and eventually disappear.
I usually do another pollination some days after the first one to make sure that all the pistils that are still white also get their share of pollen.

No worries @Poekie ! I was going to say pretty much exactly what you said, haha.

Don't overthink it, it doesn't take a lot of pollen to make a lot of seeds. Be sure to let them mature fully before harvesting.

Blowfish and Golden Tiger are down! I also gave the 4 remaining Shoeshiner plants new homes since all 5 from before have died, either intentionally or unintentionally.

Next drop is going to be PKO, then Lemon Tree x ON Haze. I haven't had any PKO around since December, and I've missed it.

Black Swamp Gas [(Triangle Kush x '88 G13 Hashplant) x (Triangle Kush x SFV)], Wedding Cake x ON Haze, Purple Wreck, and Widowmaker Skunk will be the rest of July's drop.

Since you guys are talking pollination and seeds, I add my 2 cents lol , Here is a method that I know is being used by the big boys and did myself a lot, 5 to 7 day after you pollinated and you know it took turn your light back to 18-6 for the remainder growth, only use this method if your making seed only, your plants will look like shit they reveg and shit will grow everywhere, but who cares your making seeds, you can generally shave 2-3 weeks off the time it normally takes, your seeds will be bigger, stronger, more vigorous and have very high germination rates.

The nicer nugs of the Lemon Pie, Heavy Grapefruit, and Lemon OG Kush. HG is, indeed, as heavy as I remember it. It's a solid, sleepy, body-numbing indica with smaller buds because it didn't stretch as much as I'd hoped, even after extended veg time. Lemon Pie is stupefying in the best ways, a bit trippy, and medium energy. Lemon OG is more introspective and less physical than the other two, but powerful and a damn vigorous plant.

Crossed that Pipatxu keeper with the G13 Hazeplant dudes yesterday. One of the males leans Ghash and one leans Ghaze, and since I'm a fan of getting the broadest range of possible phenos for F1's it seemed like a no-brainer. None of the parents need support in flower, they all do well with multiple tops, all flower under 9 weeks, and they've all been among the highlights in the last year. Very, very excited to have those around.

That pollen will also, of course, go to the G13 Hazes and G13 Hashplant for further pheno hunting down the line.

Dropped one I've been eagerly awaiting today- Green Rebel Farms' Black Swamp Gas. It essentially breaks down to (Triangle x Ghash) x (Triangle x SFV). Haven't fucked with either Triangle Kush or SFV much, so I'm very much looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Also, I started adding glycerine in equal parts with the Safer's insecticidal soap (100ml of each to 800mL water) spray and it's made a HUGE difference. It seems like the soap stays on the leaves indefinitely and thrip damage has been drastically reduced. I've also been adding it to the neem/fermented garlic/tea tree oil foliar for the same reason. I bet it wouldn't be out of place in the epsom salt/sulfur spray either...

This Supreme Lemon keeper is strong. Like, in a different category kinda strong. A warhead got me through all day today because I was good halfway through the first vaping. Just finished it off and it's still like a bat to the face with a full-body jello-ness. This one is going to be around for a long time. It's got that Headband kinda feeling, but lower, like around the eyes. It's more like Blindfold. 😄

Next to drop will be PKO!!! I actually only dropped half of the original F1 [(Nepalma x Uzbekistan) & (Uzbekistan x Nepalma)] seeds, so I'm going to drop the other 9-10 along with the F2 seeds. That, Lemon Tree x ON Haze, and Wedding Cake (another Triangle mom) x ON Haze might actually be it for the rest of the month.

I topped the G13 Hazeplant dudes, as well as the nicest Valencian Haze dude that appeared. The females of those are going to get flowered pretty soon, after the Ghanis and Hazes. I stored and hopefully will save the pollen from them to cross with the most appropriate Haze(s?) as well as Ghazes, the Ghash mama, and Bubba Hash. Maybe Kali China, Golden Tiger, and Orient Express down the road, too...

Glad to see you using glycerin. Once you get things in check, reduce it further down to just the glycerin with a tad of insect soap, (plus your water) especially during flower. It will remain far cleaner, and still keep them on the run, no doubt. Have you been tracking the pH of the spray? Keep it between 7.5-8 and that will eliminate any possibility of mold/PM happening. Personally, I would monitor it, especially as you get your mixture worked out Keep in mind too strong mixture is possible, but fairly difficult I think with pure glycerin, but your on the higher end at 100 ml/L I think that's somewhat strain dependent, or possibly can change with environmental conditions, not exactly sure, TBH.

Buds look great.

I thought it was you that was using it! I didn't want to give you credit mistakenly haha. I haven't been ph'ing it, but I'm not super worried about mold or PM because of the epsom/sulfur spray and keeping the flowering ladies in VPD. Remember everything gets rinsed before vaping so there's never residue.

Yeah, I went hard with the initial application because it was part of the heavy cleaning and defoliation that I did today. All of the plant containers got washed, every plant that needed it got defoliated, everything got PFR-97, Safer's/glycerin spray, and the neem spray, all of the non-cannabis plants around that had thrips got thrown away with their dirt, walls and floors cleaned with Simple Green, etc. I really like it in the neem spray because it keeps the neem and tea tree oil in emulsion.

I'll probably post some pics later today or tomorrow.
