Good on you bud!!! I got myself up to 350 lbs. Bad hips & living in a convenience / video store for 20 years with ice cream. chips & chocolate bars at my finger tips 16 hrs / day 7 days / week. Pot, will power and 1500 calories / day got me down to 220 in a bit over a year now. 3 - 500 cal meals. No chips, chocolate, ice cream or fast food. Lots and lots of coffee, carrots & lettuce...with the occasional pizza cheat day.
Yea, I take my health serious these days brother. I thought I was on my way out a little while back, the hacking and coughing was just so bad, but it's improved some. I haven't felt lumps in my throat as much when I swallow either these days, it's still an ongoing issue, no doubt. Migraines are a bit less too. I was a medical professional for 2 decades, so I've seen what happens. Don't want them sawing, drilling, cutting, mutilating or otherwise using me as a lab rat. lol. Once you get too bad, your simply finished, and dependent upon others. Like my wife unfortunately. I love her no doubt, but she is a handful, bad, bad things happen when we don't take good care of ourselves.

It took me about a year to lose most of it, and another to get down to where I'm at now, which is my normal bodyweight. But I can see now that I've lost the weight that some of my former muscle mass is gone also, probably been that way for years now, because of inactivity. I was running 6-10 miles a day, and lifting weights for hours on end 5-7 days a week for years. 100-150 days out of the year on the mountain, either skiing or mountaineering, I was highly active in my younger days. Used to get super baked and go eject my self off mountain tops until I had the second MCL tear, and fell about 400 feet. That was pretty much the end of skiing except for occasional groomers. When I lived in Utah, we got 633 inches of snow one year, it was crazy. Lots of good memory up on the mountains.

So I've always been active, up till now, and trying to claw some of that back. Using the total gym I've got every few days, cause my muscles don't recoup as fast anymore. It works great, could rehab any medical injury, because it's all basically resistance training, and the ropes/pullies give you fluid full range of motion. I also cook everything I eat, and lots of hot peppers, garlic, random roots, fresh berries, fresh apples, greens, raw nuts, grains, microbes, probiotics on dried fruits, yogurt, ect. Anything to target that cough and hacking. Seattle has abundant fresh food of all types, for good price. I make a good pizza every now and again, and we eat lots of rice and beans, tortillas. Lots of peppers, jalapeno, serrano's cooked or raw. That's our standard fare. I should have been a Mexican, cause I love the food. I rarely eat a midwestern American meal anymore, maybe once or twice a year, tops. I try to eat less meats, and eat lower on the food chain, like mostly chicken, fish and eggs. The wife is a veggie. Rarely any red meats, but I do still eat the occasional 2 slices of maple, apple or hardwood smoked bacon. That's probably the worst thing I eat these days. Good food habits are a learned behavior, no doubt.

Here's a standard meal;

Fucking blueberries are simply phenomenal bud. The smells coming off these plant are simply off the chart, and there still early yet. Crazy good, I'm really excited. There is appeal on several different fronts. I've been looking for this cut for almost a decade or more, I knew it was out there, cause I've come across, or something very similar in the past. I used to know a tight fisted Rastafari out of Portland who grew this strain well. Appears to be the same pheno, or very close. I'm at the point where I need to start feed them twice daily, and the root balls are so thick, they take 5 min to feed each plant. I've been hitting them hard with sugars and microbes, so I think perhaps I need to back off a tad, looks like a little excess potassium showing in the tips. But this stuff has some incredible vigor, it seems, so far.

How did you dry down? Are you putting a Boveda in the jar?
I would recommend skip the boveda, for now. Maybe later, if you need to regain moisture. Let it cure naturally in there, just burp it, as you go. (I've got boxes of sealed unused boveda of all % types sitting in the cupboards for years now) But do it slow. If it's smelling sweet, spicy, your fine. A little chlorophyll, fine, but let it breath. A little jam or spaghetti sauce on your lid, fine. (but not moldy) 🤣 Keep it in a dark/cool area. Just make sure none of your fans there have any bad tips on them, cut out blemishes, if possible. Trim your fans carefully, it takes practice.

keep your blades and equipment clean and sterile at all times.

Those sugar leaves, if you use your trimmer in the back along where the stem comes out of the buds, you can often cut them out clean where the buds separate, or lean in, and cut it out by the stem. That will help reduce trim waste, but minimize bigger leaves. Either that, or try to get up near the buds and cut it all along where the leaf is coming out, either way is acceptable.

It's a unanimous opinion. everyone agrees, trimming sucks! 🤣

You put lots of work in this all year, so this is no time to get sloppy.
That said, I enjoy a bit of a hippy cut, depending on the strain. (example GG#4) When you've got a huge pile sitting on tarp in your living room, (or a massive pile in the yard) it's kind of overwhelming sometimes, but patience is a virtue with trimming. I've trimmed for consecutive days, on end, 10-12 hr days. I know bud, trustfall have done it that much more. (probably weeks on end) A deft well aimed cut is ideal, not a Mr. Scissorhands.⚔️⚔️⚔️ (unless your a cannabis cutting god)

These are my little friends. especially the smaller ones, and I usually keep a few of those. Silicon coating on the fronts help to reduce buildup, and makes removal easier (there more expensive but well worth it, IMO), I also have a pair of good loppers, (so I don't fuck up my smaller blades) but I don't usually trim with them (unless I'm desperate, or in a pinch)😫

You did a fine job of trimming there, it will work; this wasn't meant to criticize, (I get sloppy sometimes) just offering up general information.

Much obliged! I thought my first cut seemed a little moldy after a week, so I interceded. So, dump the jars and let breathe for a couple hours weekly?

If the weed is wet, it should be taken out and dried first. It shouldn't be in the jars wet, it should be nearly snap dry, or thereabouts. Your's looks fine, from the pictures, (as far as I can determine without actual handling) but leave spaces so it can breath yes. I would recommend trimming it up some, getting those big leaves out will help, and pop the lids often at first, keep a close eye on it.

If you feel it's too wet, and your trying to draw out the moisture with a low moisture content boveda, I suppose that's acceptable practice also, (I don't usually do it) but certainly not too wet. I like to get my stuff snap dry, (not far over) then cure it.

Dense thick buds hold onto moisture a bit better than less dense flowers. But getting the dry correct before putting into bottles is critical.
I'm sure there's something I forgot, and bud or trustfall can speak more to this; I've covered the basics. Getting this part right, is truly a fine art.

Properly cured weed will improve with age.

In all things moderation, and balanced. Agreed, stretching out the best is always the prudent way forward IMO, give you something to always come back too and enjoy. That special treat. Also, it's good for folks to not get too high and mighty. When I'm among some less fortunate associates and friends, I'll even smoke a few hits of there bunk, and if it's not too bad, indulge them some. If it's too terrible, I try and usually offer up some alternative, (or just take a few hits). Bottom line; I try not to ever make anyone feel inferior or bad about what they're smoking. (or even growing) To them, it might be the steadfast go too, and works for them. I remember my struggling days well.

When people are eating rocky road ice cream everyday, nothing else seems quite as good. It's one of the reasons I stopped eating ice cream entirely, TBH. I wanted it all the time, and once I can afford it, I will. It's just that simple, I'm an indulgent personality, that's learned a better way.. That's why I don't dab much either, mostly just flowers. But I certainly do enjoy a few dabs here or there. I try to always keep at least a few grams now and I'm looking to hash out a few pounds I've got sitting around, once I can find some dry ice, (impossible with covid) but a few ounces of that stuff last me years, if I didn't share it with others.

Great cannabis is something special, no doubt. It's a true gift to be shared. Allowing oneself too become too high and mighty about it all, is a straight up loser move IMO. I try to shoot toward the middle in most anything these days. Perhaps I'm just getting older.
I’m always one step away from being in jail so I try to stay humble. We are allowed 12 plants lol goodthing my moral standards are above manmade laws. The day I hurt someone with a plant is the day I will reassess this. Until then I don’t know how to count.🤣100+20 =12
As far as smoking others pot I am brutally honest if I think they can handle it. I don’t smoke bud that was covered in pest, or mildew budrot etc. also Will not smoke overfed weed. It kills the terps it kills the high and I just can’t enjoy it doesn’t burn well either.
I know a lot of growers who feel the same way I do as regards to smoking.... unless it is their pot. “Here comes my pet pieve”. Some people’s heads are so far up their own asses they won’t smoke another man/women pot. Covered in pm and it’s still the best. This is what I can’t stand. Growers ego. Hell my friend has it and he’s not even a grower. Got mad at me when he brought me some dispo bud and I told him it ended up in the junk pile.😁🤦🏼‍♂️
I never criticize with out offering a solution or help to their problem. If they are willing to take it.
And I admit the reason why I reconize this trait so much is it’s exactly what I use to do. Didn’t think anyone could grow me satisfying pot except me. In the slump of my career, broad mites,pm, root aphids I finally broke down and had to smoke someone else pot that was better then mine. From that day forward my eyes are wide open, and besides when I smoke someone’s pot and I’m like holy shit bro this is good! Makes me step my game up. And most people are willing to help get you there. That’s what I like about this plant.
Then I see guys like Bud out here sending blessing to a lot of less fortunate individuals. It’s kindness and I hope it goes back to him ten fold!

Agreed, offering up solutions is key. (fuck all the drama queens) 🤣 Constructive criticism is a good thing. I certainly don't know everything, and I'm willing to accept that were it's pointed out. The process is easier when it's done with some couth, or tact. But not necessary, I've got thicker skin these days. I'm crazy like that. But I can feel 😭 or 🤬 if I feel picked on, lol. It happens. Stoners can sometimes be insensitive. 😒

I try not to be a socio-psychopath unless I'm being harassed by the woman. Sometimes it probably bleeds though, when I feel she's nagging me.😡 Lots of work to do on not being a hothead. That's a big one. I live in an twilight zone, bud seen it up close once. But you stick by people, or you don't. I choose to do the former.😇 I can deal with crazy. (so I think).

The upper microbiome is so important within the grow parameter. I've struggled like anyone else, I'm getting there. Lots of those issues seem related to humidity conditions, heat stress, or some other variables. Keeping that biome healthy and happy is paramount to clean bud. Pathogens are the bane of cannabis.

I guess when I say bunk, I mean low's, mid's or outdoor $50oz dispensary, I suppose. I'm certainly not smoking anything that don't taste right. But most of the dispensary weed is clean/safe enough for me to indulge.

I was just looking at this one the other day, and jumped into it. Cost me nearly $100, but I think it was a good purchase. (If anyone wants pm me, I've got plenty) Streptomyces nigrescens is a bacterium species from the genus of Streptomyces which has been isolated from soil. Produces 5-alkyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines and the antibiotics phoslactomycin A - F. (6 different kinds) Tetrahydroquinoline is an organic compound that is the semi-hydrogenated derivative of quinoline, a colorless oil. These results demonstrate that 5aTHQs are novel antifungals that target cell membranes.

Phoslactomycin (PLM) is a natural product from the isolation of Streptomyces species. This is an inhibitor of the protein serine/threonine phosphatase (think flowering here) which is the protein phosphate 2A (PP2A). The PP2A involves the growth factor of the cell such as to induce the formation of mitogen-activated protein interaction and playing a role in cell division and signal transduction. Therefore, PLM are used for drugs that prevent tumor, cancer, or bacteria.

So not only does this inhibit fungal growth, it also grows 7 kinds of antibiotics, and antitumor agents.

Off to a good start Bud. Is the PKG in the top left corner in this pic?
Sure is.👍
How did you dry down? Are you putting a Boveda in the jar?
No Bovedas... I hang 'em for a week or three, then trim and break them down into paper bags... Another day or three later, I jar (or bag) the buds up.

I've even found good smoke in the rec store. 🤫

Is this similar to actinovate?

Is this similar to actinovate?
Yes, very much so, but with a little different twist. It's in the same genius, but different species. The end metabolites are somewhat different.

What I like about the nigrescens specifically is the different Phoslactomycin (6 kinds) it produces, think flowering. Phosphate is a huge component to flowering, so this stuff is, no doubt some metabolites are being taken straight up into the flowers and deposited internally. Also the tetrahydroquinoline it produces seems quite interesting, and pungent.

Quinoline is used in the manufacture of dyes, (think colors) the preparation of hydroxyquinoline sulfate and niacin. (aka Vit B3 aka nicotinic acid) It is also used as a solvent for resins and terpenes. 8-hydroxyquinoline, which is a versatile chelating agent and precursor to pesticides. Lots of the antibiotics we currently use have quinolone structures in them. ie. moxifloxacin, ciprofloxacin, gemifloxacin, trovafloxacin, they're considered broad-spectrum antibiotics. (gram positive/negative) They appear to be quite effective against gram-negative bacteria, especially Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Quinolones are molecules structurally derived from the heterobicyclic aromatic compound quinoline, the name of which originated from the oily substance obtained after the alkaline distillation of quinine

quinoline, the name of which originated from the oily substance obtained after the alkaline distillation of quinine Quinine is a flavor component of tonic water and bitter lemon drink mixers. On the soda gun behind many bars, tonic water is designated by the letter "Q" representing quinine (think bitters).

I'm really interested in any species that have antitumor qualities about them, or currently being studied for such.
There's a lot of evidence that cancer is caused by various pathological microorganisms. For instance, Helicobacter pylori in the gut. (the one that creates ulcers). Causes stomach cancer.

Since I've started consuming more microorganisms, (Yogurt, probiotics, yeast, lactobacillus) my cough/hacking has substantially decreased. It's not gone; but it's certainly improved. (Doctors have zero to offer up; except "quit smoking") It's been getting worse for >15 years. I can see how much my tongue tissues are much cleaner. It's doing something, that's for sure.

That’s a Hahn’s or red shoulder macaw. He’s such an idiot 😅. I’m the only one who can hold him he will bite everyone else. I’ll find his bath video, just stands there dunking his head and I have to spray him or he’d never be clean.
That's right, he's not Andy, he's the other we had. We had one like this, but finally they got rid of him, cause he was so possessive of my mom and was acting up. Then when they tried to correct it, he pulled all his feathers out. lol

Ever see your's ruffle up like that? With eyes going all wild, pupils pulsating?
