I would go for three x 240 w led panels with samsung lm301h 3000k for flower. With long enough cables to Mount drivers outside tent.

Then you are more free to adjust intensity, hanging height for different plants etc. If one breaks there is still two more.

Sounds great as far as adjustment and the built in sunrise/sunset function if on a timer. Smart controllers to do the same aren’t cheap.

If your going to spout statements like this, you'd best have FACTS to support them, not your opinions. Having owned QauntumBoards by HLG since the pre-production models came out, I have never found there to be an issues with "hotspots" . If your burning a plant then you have your lamp way too close period. I've grown a great many plants with HLG products, there are several reasons I've stuck with them: They have consistently produced the best results of any lights I have owned, my original QB 304 pre-production boards are still growing weed, i donated them to a family member who just completed his first grow with them. Next, I KNOW who's LEDs are actually being used, unlike many lights out there. HLG sphere tests it lamps and posts the lab reports for all to see. They post REAL par maps for most of their lamps.

No lets talk about the "LUXX" lamps. NO PPF rating, no efficiency rating, NO mention of who's white LEDs they are using, yeah, buy them.... Synce is a great light. It's real target though is greenhouses and spaces where they can be mounted high. The optics/no optics debate continues, but the supposed gains of optcs is negated by the losses of the optics themselves. If they were truly of value, HLG would be using them. HLG's people put a lot of thought in their design. Unlike the Chines knockoffs, they spent months designing and testing various layouts, various LEDs, drivers, etc. Chill LED... built a good light, and they were caught lying about it's performance.. they'd never get a nickel of my money.

So if your preference for whatever reason is bar style lights, that's fine, but don't be calling a top of the line product's performance trash. Unless your goal is to troll, if so, we can have a different discussion. Post a PAR map that YOU create, in your environment and post it, with pics. Or admit your just talking trash for whatever reason. And yes, I now work for HLG, but I was using their products for years before I took the position.

I know HLG has a good rep and I have nothing against the company but I simply cant recommend Quantum Boards to anyone. This is coming from someone who runs 6 HLG 320 QB XL's and one HLG 600 Rspec. The spread on quantum boards is trash and they tend to have hot spots. Stay away, especially is you have average/low ceilings.

Go with a bar style LED. I'd recommend Synce LED if you want absolute top of the line. LUXX, ChilLED and think grow are quality as well. If more on a budget, look at Growers Choice or Migro.

I have little experience with any other light, but I'm pretty happy with my 600r, bought just about a year ago. I bought a 4x4 grow tent kit that came with an 80 inch height and a 120w LED light. Midway through first grow I thought the 120w light was inadequate and bought the 600r. Were I to do it now, I would buy the 650r.

My first full grow with photoperiods got me 18 ounces of dried bud from soil. I'm now growing in coco, and the growth rate is phenomenal.

I also ended up buying a Quantum PAR meter. Trying to figure out the right power level from charts is ridiculously hard, and that (I assume) is with the dimmer set to full power. Now I just look at the meter and set the dimmer where I want it.

This light needs a lot of space between it and the canopy, and I'm feeling quite challenged in my standard 4x4 tent size. I will likely replace the tent with a taller one for the next grow. Without the dimmer on this light I would be cooking all my plants and not growing them. Some sort of decent light meter is really needed as well, and that pretty much goes for all LED's.

Not sure what power I'm at right now, but I have the dimmer set to give me 600-800 PAR from edge to center of tent at about 30 inches of space (and shrinking). It can get a lot brighter.

You clearly missed the part where I said I run 7 HLG boards and get good results. But the fact is the coverage isn't as good. The diodes on the board point straight down and don't spread so however big the board is, is kind of how much coverage you get. Performance drops off drastically outside that area. And yes, they do burn plants at close distances. Using them with 7.5ft ceilings has been an absolute hassle that I wouldn't have to deal with if I had bar style lights. Most home growers dont have 12 foot ceilings to work with.

As far as being an honest company, I dont have a problem with HLG or CHILLED but dont be a hypocrite. Grandmasterlevel sent a scorpion diablo into an independent lab and got way worse results than what HLG advertises. He actually left HLG and built his own lights because of how much it pissed him off. Mostly bar style lights, I might add.

And what are you talking about? The Scynce Raging Kush 2.0 is made for vertical growing/short ceilings. And no, HLG cant use their optic technology because its patented. They work with universities on their optics and its not really a debate anymore. Just because a particular LED light has a high efficiency rating, it DOES NOT mean that all of that light is making it to your plants. This is why the patented optics by Scynce LED are so important.

Also if were comparing HLG to Scynce LED's then lets talk about how far behind HLG is in the technology department. No spectrum tuning. The fact you even need to hook them all up to a controller just to control them all at once is pathetic. Scynce has a fully intuitive android/ios app where you can spectrum tune and set sunrise/sunset all through a built in wireless controller. Its 2022, this should be standard on all the LED's on the market.

HLG makes good bang for your buck lights but quantum boards come with their own problems. I bought into the online HLG hype when I didnt know as much about LEDs. They're not bad lights and you can get banging results with them, but if I were to do it all over, id choose different lights. This is coming from someone not committed to any brand. Is that FACTS enough for you?

Im not pushing anyone. Like I said, im not affiliated with any brand. Just sharing my opinion on what I think the best light for OP is. Why did everyone else get to recommend their favorite light, but when I did, I'm "pushing" a brand?

So, the title of this thread is about, and I'll paraphrase it, someone asking for recommendations on brands/type of LED's for his grow.

But he should be replying with his justifications for his selections on "LED Argument Thread For DUmmies" thread. What kind of sense does that make? How would someone know to go there for his reply? I guess everyone here is a mind reader!

This man is ahead of the curve he has a PAR meter. Every grower that is serious about their grows should really invest in one. Watts are irrelevant vs PAR. PAR is the only measure you need when examining how good your lights are. Quality of light is also not bad(spectrum)

If this is just for a small 4x4 tent then a quantum board is not bad so long as your not getting alot of humidity in the tent. Exposed drivers boxes in high humidity areas are not IP rated to address the increased moisture in the air and can fail. Seen it happen many times. I think quantum boards are great little lights for the home grower. Since they're fairly new in the market for popularity I don't know how their longevity is, but from a few suppliers that carry them, they seem inexpensive and have decent results.

I would look into the bar lights, it seems they cover the area better and you can get them closer to the canopy.

All lights are made in China, the difference is whether you get a good Chinese lights with good parts and build versus one without. Almost 95% of all LED lights out there are from China, even ones that are assembled in North America have all parts coming form overseas. As cannabis growers we have designed and are just bringing to market our own light. Ours is a 6 bar fixtures that can easily cover 5x5 area and pp to 16-18 plants effectively(bar lights can be customizable and better for coverage area). Its also very versatile in with 3 tunable spectrums, 0-100% dimmable on each channel and controller that runs automation and can house up to several programs. Ours id UL and DLC certified and tested. It was primarily designed for commercial operations mainly for the programable features that do a lot of the work for you but is a great tool for the advanced hobbyist or medical grower. I looked up your Kingbrite light, can't find any DLC information on it only found it on Alibaba. Not much to run on in terms of information but it looks like it could grow a decent plant or two. Do you have any diodes that have gone down, any drivers overheating?

Mars Hydro FC-E 6500 $565.00 Best 4 x 4 light you can get for the money. I have the FC-E 4800 in a 3 x 3 and pull 1000 ppfd at the sides at 100% and 24" 1300 plus in the middle.
