None of the old seeds had come up... And the cubes had algae starting.

I believe your onto something there bubba; I would try new clean cubes; or re-boil; then sprout them in the dark; and see if it goes better. I just got a good feeling about that one if they were sitting in sunlight; cause I've seen it here also. I think there's a little bit of an energy curve; and some of the start energy is getting sucked out by (Plantae supergroup) The green algae are photosynthetic eukaryotes; which could be tapping some of the chemical energy directly out of the seeds themselves.

If shit is popped in the dark; (24-72 hrs) I think everything should be copasetic; the other part is of course; moist; temps and oxygen of course. ie all the normal environmental dials.

So funny your the clone grand-master; and struggling on the seed front; but such is the order of things. 🤣 At $10 a seed; I was really trying to get good at every single pop back in the day.

Moving sucks.😐
Yea; it does' but I think this is going to be a turning point; moving on up; hopefully; and some progress. At least that's my attitude about what's happening; and it's going to be a process of a few years.. Plus' I'm not looking at it like moving; per se; if it all pans out; but an expansion of sorts; a new fresh beginning. If I can keep the fort in town; I will most certainly do it. Just not entirely sure what that's going to look like quite yet. Everything's got to be affordable; and fit into place; for it to happen.

But yea; If I can upgrade to a 2 bedroom in town; and get everything in motion; I think I can do it all. Started a new banker today; and I got some good impressions also. These people are the kind of money handlers I can work with; so I was lucky to find them. There a "different" kind of bank; it appears; and go out of their way to make things happen. Place was called Home Street; and John had a bad taillight in his car; and they called him at home and told him about it; after he opened an account....

I got to thinking; they were looking out for the man; so I went in; and I was right. Even had fresh coffee in there. My choice of flavors even; and fresh. 😁 Strange shit has been happening lately; that's for sure.

Old seeds that were cooked... All my seeds of that vintage were... But I keep them... And every now and again I drop a few and 🤞.

The best luck I had with some of those really old seeds, I'm talking one's that were labeled prior to year 2000 (20 year+ old seed) was the paper towel; and/or the coffee filter method. Most of them sprouts come out looking kind of weak; sometimes they don't get past their baby sprout leaf sets (then die) and those first "true sets" are never actually realized; then they simply give up.

If the conditions are right; and they manage to poke out the slightest first "true leaf set"; there usually good to go; and slowly gain momentum. Seems like a curve of sorts. From that stored internal energy; transitioning into that first "true" leaf set... nutrients; sunlight... onward...

I do think that light plays a role in this; or perhaps it's a microbial issue at play; that light is perhaps creating at a cellular level. Bottom line; early sprouts don't appear to thrive in sunlight; especially anything direct... it takes at least 24-72 hours for them to become acclimated. I generally go by stem lengths... then into medium light>>>>

These ones are way too long (wasted energy) cause I wasn't watching them close enough in the "ambient light" stage. I like 1/2 to 3/4 inch max before there put under stronger direct light; so they now likely contain excess amount's of Auxin which promote stem elongation. Would be cool if I could one day develop mechanisms to analyze these plant tissues (and others) and prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt. Plant signaling is so very huge IMO.

ie. light directs the metamorphic energy within the plant thoughout it's life cycle. aka; it "decodes" the DNA>RNA>Proteins on how to unfold most adaptively to it's surrounding environment; even under the most challenging conditions.

If germinated in soil, or in this case rooters, there won't be any light until they break the surface.
I keep things simple.

Agreed; I'm onboard with the soil part brother; cause it's the natural order; but not entirely sure about the rooters; TBH. Light can be bent inside moisture or "some" basic minerals around a curve; and those things are built like sponges.

The part I’m not sure , with rooters , is I feel like it’s harder for the tap root to push through ? I have some rockwool that I’m learning to use but I think I like it better than rooters 🤷‍♂️

So long as they're good, viable seeds, I feel like the results are great just sticking seeds directly in rooters... And then in to soil after they break the surface... 90%+.
