Why do people grow autos?

What are the reasons for growing auto as opposed to photoperiod? It is just because it's easier? Or faster? Are there advantages? Is it just convenience? How do the genetics stack up? What is the market for autos?
Laziness and inexperience?

I've grown lots of both. IMO the autos are a bit easier. Not much thought process. Plant, water, harvest. Indoor tent, the light can be left on longer for entire grow so they simply grow faster if that's what you want. Smaller final plants obviously which may be what you want for a small tent grow, but last batch of Northern Lights Auto I grew (4 plants) resulted in a solid pound+ of pretty tasety buds. Nothing wrong with autos if they fit your needs.

The thing about autos is if you find a good one you cant keep it or work with it. IMO they should be banned, stray pollen from ruderalis can dilute and set everything back and if it wasn't for photoperiod plants you wouldn't even get a buzz off autos, but as you say if they fit your needs, to each their own.

No, with the autos you grow now you only get one harvest and it's nothing like hemp weed, or anything like the autos back in 2010. Autos now are just as good as alot of the photo strains out there right now. And they are not scraggly looking buds.

Yes if you want to grow CBD bud's without the THC you can buy seeds to do that, but that's not what I grow.

Even if it's killer you can't work with it,you need to clone and keep it in veg to make it better or continue, eventually it runs dry and is only the photo used is worth keeping, the ruderalis just give you auto,it's like watering down milk. Also as grown since 79 says,it's whats inside the trichrome that matters unless it's for oil

I'll put some pictures up this fall of some Autos I have outside, they are done by the time when thieves are out looking for your plants.

If you're guerilla growing in corn, absolutely use autos. You can even use super/semi autos. This way you can get your crop out before the corn comes off.

I have a sativa superauto that produces 2 to 4lbs and finishes mid August.

The only problem with the corn field is the plant stands out like a sore thumb when flying over, I like the wood line and walk in woods to get to them, nothing can be seen from air very easy.

Lower yields "per plant". If youre limited to 4 legal plants for recreation in Canada, then yes, your per harvest yields are going to be shit. But if youre in an area that allows more plants or youve got an ACMPR license(min is 25 plants on a 5gr per day prescription) then that isnt an issue. If you grow enough plants to fill your 4x4 canopy, youre going to get similar yields to growing photos in that same space. Youre yield is limited by canopy size, not per plant yield. I know many experienced growers who choose autos, please dont look at my history here an assume im some sort of noob. Ive been involved in cannabis grows for a lot longer than my post history.

The real disadvantages are potency isnt as high, you need a higher plant count to increase yield, and all plants must be grown from seed, so no clones. Yield is not an issue if you have the plant count, and your annual yield can be increased significantly for far less money on equipment, using half the space. The other downside is once you find a really good pheno, you harvest, you smoke, and its gone forever lol. Maybe not forever, but you could pop 100 seeds and not get that same pheno again.

I knew a dude back in the day growing autos illegally. He went from 4lbs every 75 days with photos, to 4 lbs every 50 days with autos. For someone growing for sale, thats huge.
Your post is wrong, sir. You can clone autos and even reset their internal growth clock using plant tissue culture propagation.
