Has anybody ever just used feminized seeds to grow in tent? Do you get big grows?

You can make your own out of some solid Regs - grab a cut off a great mom and spray it. That's the best way to find out for yourself if the process is what causes the issues, or base genetics bad to begin with.

If you just want to buy and try, my recommendation is getting some well established lines - for example White Widow from Green House Seeds. The line is so stable now after decades that you get solid genetics guaranteed. If you buy some current crazy cross that has only been around a couple years, that's where genetic flaws can come back to bite you.
The white widow sold by greenhouse is not the same as they sold when it won the cup.

You're on the money with some of your post. My only prob with fem seeds is someone else selfed it and it limits the diversity and you can't get a male if you like it. Bud thickness and rot go hand in hand because airflow is blocked but a femmed is no more prone to it than a reg.
I agree.

Why would you want a male tho? If you are making your own crosses, then yes Regs are king. But if you just want pollen and growing females for consumption - you can still do that with Fem. Hell they even have a spray now that reverses hermies back to female.

I would want a male to explore the line if I found it worth it,if you make the fem shed pollen with whatever technique you choose, you bottleneck it even more. In order to create an inbred line, which is what I would do, I would self my fave if I had to then keep backcrossing until I got as close as the line would let me to my goal.

Yeah, there is even contention if it is actually their lineage to begin with. Depends on who you read.

Doesn't need to be a cup winner to be solid genetics tho. I've grown it many times and find only 1 phenotype comes of the seeds. That is a solid line.

Have you grown the old line?

Yes, this is a perfect application of reg seeds. No doubt - breeders don't start with reversed genetics.

I may have misled you a bit - I do not mean to say everything on the menu at Greenhouse is good, I really just meant to say that OG weed that is decades old (White Widow, Northern Lights, Diesel, OG Kush or some IBL lines like original Durban Poison) have a better chance of not being shit.

But just like everyone else, when I look at the Greenhouse website - they are doing the same marketing things and crossing crap left and right and pumping it out to the public with a fru fru name. When it comes to that stuff - you get what you get and expect several phenos in a pack of seeds.

EDIT: this is what I meant - greenhouse as a breeder not a seed store

Yeah I reckon I'll hold out for some new DJ short blueberry. Or try a Bubba or pink. Keep it simple. Keep it kush. For this year tho i think clone of good pink kush. Get some supplies going.

I find the old line superior in growth, quality of effects and diversity. I have grown it shortly after it won and I had one that was pure white, leaves and stalks, it was amazing and the newer releases are more indica,I'm going by my experience with the seeds I bought, other buyers may have had a diff experience. That is not my pic but the one I had was even whiter ,it looked like a snowball. The sativa phenos were crazy with trichromes.

Still got it? I might know a guy who does tissue culture and can resurrect 20 year old seeds... He lives in the same town you do lol.

I have maybe 50 seeds of it, that's not to say one will like it willsurface, I'm going to do a run in the fall ,closer to winter and make a bunch of seeds to keep looking. I've kept ,sk#1,c99,blockhead, gods haze,b13,northern lights, red widow, silver haze, for preservation but selected to my liking so they may not be the next guys cup of tea.I'm always looking for real examples of the old lines, I would love to get old sensi star seeds in reg from someone who saved it,at one time she would hold her own against anything, it should have won the cup upon release.

I... might.... have some of that. Not the new part tho, the stuff he made before he died. I'm told the current stuff is not even close to the same - somebody using his legacy to chuck pollen.
I didn't know he was dead.

We probably need to get off this thread but I think I have sensi star. I have several IBLs too. We should compare genetics one day and make something good happen.

If you have the real deal you gotta grow it out and make some cuts and seeds. Keep it from disappearing. That's the only smoke I ever had that was shockingly good. Looked not great. But was damn near biblical. The taste. One of a kind.
