One Plant One Scrog Contest CannaGranny Style

Rosetta Stone is coming along. She got a Gaia Green feed yesterday. She is now drinking water like crazy. She has stretched like crazy so I will raise the scrog when bulk comes on.

What in the hell am I doing. Thats Funk Monkey. Took this plant out of the contest because I knew it would never grow out and flower soon enough.

This is Rosetta Stone and the plant in the contest. Fed her the other day with Gaia Green. She's a heavy drinker now. Has had a good stretch and I will raise the scrog when she starts putting on weight. I raised the lights and bumped her up a notch on the dimmers. She is at 900 ppfd right now.

Looks great Blastfact! Here’s a couple pucs of the Epoxy Og. Im beginning to wonder if she’ll ever finish. Tomorrow is day 70. She has gotten a great smell in the last few days. All her sisters across the hall are almost all done. Happy growing everyone! Welcome back Granny!

Yall are KEEELIN IT! and it is so awesome to see. Quite unfortunately I have run into a snag and could use the advice of my peeps here por favor.

Day 65 of flower
Mimosa x Orange Punch - clone
Light height is maxed and is 30-31" from the highest cola top
Temps are 75-80ish day and 65ish at night

This is the worst of the foxtails but can sort of see them coming high and low.
I do have some amber here and there.
What do I do?
Pretend they aren't there, drop light power 1 notch, and forget about it?
I have read that foxtailing slightly at this stage isn't exactly a bad thing?

Where are you going to be competing? And what tools of the trade do you use? I went shooting last weekend. Loaded up the Goldwing with a basic short action Colt AR, S&W 686P 4", G20 and a few compact and sub compact 9mm and .380's and a 1k rounds of my loads and reloads. Got some run and gun in. 25, 50, 75, 100 yard pistol shooting done. Also did some 300 yard plinking with the AR. And ran some ladders with Sierra MatchKing 68 gr. HPBT I built up at 100 yards. AR liked every round regardless of load. Seems that 69 gr. bullet and 1:7 really liked each other.
St. Louis, Memphis, and Fl. Another State on the books, but don’t know if I will make that one. I shoot in varmit tactical, bench, 600 yards. I have a six mm savage six dasher, with a Palmer Savage stock. I’m running a nightforce competition scope and shooting off of a joypod. Currently running a 109 using Varget and switching with Precision according to temps. She’s very temp temperamental.
Having a new build done by Jim Borden with a stock from Andrea SantaCroce and planning to step up to open. I shoot monthly with Tommy Todd, whom owns Sierra. Really looking forward to this year!

It is said there are two reasons for foxtailing. One, being overripe and the other two much light. I have one doing this right now and neither choice comes into play. So, with that said, I’m throwing genetics into the melee! It is also an orange strain. I plan to just finish her out, really all I can do. For me making the Bud whispy, is what I don’t like.

You want her to finish, so taking away more light is not really a fix.

I've had this foxtail conversation a number of times recently. There is no definitive, single reason to get them. And quite frankly, there are nice strains out there that seem to be nothing but foxtails.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you are cutting back on nutes? If you have a diary with this plant, link it so I can take a look and see what the big picture is.

I just have to say, you might be the most badass granny in the history of grannies. Weed growin', sharp shootin, wine makin' gangster granny. Love it and I aspire for this level of awesomeness in my older years. I'm a little curious of your age, but I know some folks don't like to divulge that info, so feel free to tell me to kick rocks lol.

Here is a quote from a long time breeder on another thread:

From my observations over the years - It's not usually 1 factor, its usually a combination of factors, but seems to generally happen in high intensity / when pushing hard and one variable / limiting factor is out of whack. Be it to much heat, to much par, airflow issues, to much feed, or feed at the wrong time, PH, Temp swings, and genetics. Some strains also have stages...like orange dreams being a good example. She can finish out nice hard cone / standard bud shape. But if take her further into flower, she will fox tail, then those fox tails finish and chunk up. Gorilla glue is another one I see it happen with a lot to. If you pulled right when the fox tails first formed, the resulting flower looks odd. But, another 10 days or so, and the fox tails plump, and she just looks extra nobby. I have also noticed with many thin leaf / equatorial type plants, from places that would allow them to flower most the year, they have many many stages thru flower where they foxtail, then finish those, then other sections will still be pumping fresh white pistils.

I've asked the foxtail question with quite a few highly experienced growers, and the common denominator is - yes sometimes weed will foxtail.

I still don't know what causes it.

People in Missouri don't age, we simply improve and refine.

My last grow I had 2x DoHo and 2x Sundae Driver in the same tent. The Sundae Drivers both grew foxtail like buds. DoHo's both grew more typical bud structure.

Take that for what its worth. All 4 plants received almost identical love, care, attention, food etc.

EDIT:

I'm leaning towards genetics being the most important factor, esp when I look at other journals with this strain

Thanks for the info🥰 Funny three times an orange strain has been mentioned. I just popped some GG 4, so now I know to expect this.

I am 59 trips around the sun 😜 It’s the family I hail from, it’s all their fault! Lol

This place is far too male dominated 🤣 we need you and @TSD to maintain balance
Agree! We need TSD to ask the important questions like how old are you? I could never ask a woman that and get away with it, especially if the wife heard me.

She's on here too, but only to give me crap. Maybe @TortugaSavvy will chime in?
