Id recommend using what youve got until you get the hang of it. In my reading and talking with others, when it comes to organics, you are 1 month behind what you see so it takes even more time to fix any problems.
yeah my other friend uses regular fertilizer and he was telling me about it too. yeah it definitely seems a little different and i need to get the hang of things a little more

Ive been using synthetics for 5 years and just now felt confident enough in myself to make the switch.

But i dont pick stuff up at the flick of a switch either, takes me a while to get the hang of things.

Synthetics can be in a few forms, liquid, pellet, granular, etc. The main difference is that synthetics are in a plant available form where organics have to be broken down into a plant form by the soil microbes. Thats why organics take longer to fix problems.

50 bucks for both bags or each? if it’s both that’s not bad. but yeah if you want the good stuff you’re gonna have to pay a little more so as long as it’s worth it in the end.

I agree with GS. Get a few dirt grows under your belt then start thinking about moving into different grow styles to see what you like best.

One of the pluses of powdered fertilizer is its ease. You don't have to mix up a nutrient solution every time you feed like you did on this run since it releases over time. One of the minuses is that if you run into a problem its harder and takes longer to correct since it's already in the soil. Liquid nutrients tend to already be chelated into absorbable ions so the plant can easily uptake the nutrient ions since they don't have to rely on natural organic processes to make food available to the plant.

There is a soil product that Roots Organic puts out called Lush. For my next run I want to try it out and do an organic run to see if it's any more work than the style I'm using now. I'm going to also incorporate RO's terp teas once the timeline for flip approaches.

yeah, i feel like it helps grow bigger plants too. cause my one friend used dry fertilizer and we used the same seeds and his plant was huge lol. definitely want to try it too because you don’t have to mix up solution every time, not that i mind, but it would be nice to just put it on top and just leave it and let it do it’s thing.

i’ll put this in my list for when the time comes! 30 bucks ain’t too bad!
if you go with it get the 4.4lb buckets. I dont think 500 grams is gonna go very far, plus for like 55 or 57 you can get a total of 8.8lbs of it instead of 2lbs for 30. Just my $.02

No. The media I use is Roots Organic Original soil. It's a really nice base soil comparable to Fox Farm or Ocean Forest. Maybe not quite as enriched but it can certainly take a seedling all the way through veg without having to supplement.

"INGREDIENTS
Perlite, Coco Fiber, Peat Moss, Composted Forest Material, Pumice, Worm Castings, Bat Guano, Soybean Meal, Alfalfa Meal, Fishbone Meal, Kelp Meal, and Greensand
. Also contains beneficial mycorrhizal fungi: Funneliformis mosseae, Rhizophagus intraradices, Septoglomus desertícola to enhance uptake of plant nutrients, increase root biomass, and help container grown plants resist stress

Roots Organics Original is a ready to use mix created with a balanced air to water ratio of porosity and water retention to allow for frequent feeding of fast growing, heavy feeding plants. For exceptional results, feed with high quality nutrients, such as the Roots Organics fertilizer line."

I usually supplement the soil with some mycorrhizae from Xtreme Gardening by adding a teaspoon in the bottom and along the sides of the transplant hole so that the entire root ball gets surrounded by the root fungus.

I use General Hydroponics FloraNova Grow and Bloom formula as my base mix and supplement it with Cal/Mag, Hormex and Silicate. The base mix is a mix of synthetic and organic matter so it is compatible with organic soil but on this run I think I'd like to see what it's like to not have to mix food for the girls everytime come feeding time. It will also allow me to use my auto irrigation system in veg since I've only used it in flower. When I used it last time I had to mix up a 30 gal reservoir at 1200 ppm since I was going to be gone for some time. This time I can just run water since feedings are usually once every week or two. I may even employ a powdered fert if I know I'll be gone for a while and I can let the auto irrigate water in the powdered ferts.

i used ocean forest this time, i really liked it. i also added some earthworm castings in it. but yeah i’ve heard of general hydroponics before

On the other hand, some folks have mentioned that this stuff smells bad. So, buying a smaller size might be better if you don't like the smell and decide not to use it again.
