I have a BIG problem! The light I bought.. isn't gonna cut it!!!

Ok guys here is goes. I purchased the Side King SK7000d. And I saw reviews saying it was an awesome light, I'm so I bought it. And lemme tell ya.. it's like staring into the SUN! But HOWEVER.. I just ran across someone who said that it barely had enough far red built into it. And provided some crap buds on it because of that factor. So now.. I am looking for the ABSOLUTE cheapest way to remedy this problem by maybe giving it it far red supplemental lighting. This here is what I have in mind so far.. tell me what you guys think.. and be cruel if must!

And I am asking you guys.. way ha think? I was think that I could suspend from the ceiling the bulb style light that project forward, hang them from the side of the light and around it to make sure each plant gets it's good bit of red. But really.. I'm at a loss for words. I CAN'T go spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a light again. Just isn't possible. So.. this is my next best guess. Now if YOU guys have any better ideas that you and point and link me to that would be more efficient, not get in the way of the light, and hopefullyyy doesn't cost too too much.. I'm all ears. Thank guys. And.. good luck! Lol

I was reading about uv a and uvb how they effect a plant I am thinking of modifying a 4 ft shop light and getting lizard bulbs

i think this is over exagerated, if i were you i'll do a run without additionnal 660nm and see by yourself if buds are that crap.

Seriously seriouslyyy hope so though! Cause I'm gonna have to be selling out a shit ton of money for this venture!
.I am building a sealed grow room, so as I can utilize CO2. I got a 20 pound tank, but really really wanna get a 100 pound tank. If not for the simple reason that the price of a refill for a 20 pound tank is the same as a 100 tank. Gay! Question.. do you or anyone you know, know where I could get a 100 CO2 tank that's in at least near flawless new condition that they might wanna part with by chance?

Current spectrum looks good for veg or quality. They seem to use 760nm, so if you want a more "mass-building" approach you could buy one of these typical red flower- (or "Emerson-)boosters that usually have a 3:1 diode ratio of 660:730nm. Given you already have some 660nm, and these are usually more efficient (the current best ones throw out 4,4 umols/W) a 2:1 red:farred would make sense, to toggle on week 3 after the flip (going to 12/12).

However, the most important thing to look at what you're doing is your current, and later, target PPFD - if you're well within optimal ranges for your setup then I wouldn't spent extra money on hardware. That's about photosynthesis - now regarding photomorphogenesis, if you're current mainlight grows the plants too stocky (usually not) then a single 730nm farred ammendment on a separate driver can give you some control over internode lengths, and the ability to do a farred end-of-day and use 13/11 instead of 12/12.

CO2 used properly needs a stronger than average light as I understand.
I would try your first grow without it..
Invest in a better light completely if you really think your light is crap and you are going with CO2.
Most say CO2 will improve your grow, but everything else needs to be dialed in correctly or it is moot.

Whether it's this company or another one, I would rather go with a quality company with a solid warranty and great service.....and try a better, refurbished model, which they're going to stand by......

I haven't investigated it yet so I'm not sure, but you may be able to use a coupon code on top of this....

Offhand, someone sounds like they might be full of shit. Growers have been growing excellent buds for decades without the benefit of far red light. How does someone explain that?
There's almost every horticultural website delivering false information in an attempt to sway a potential buyer to their own brands, with one of these arguments is by spectrum talk, either "we have FR for Emerson" or "we have no green as chl doesn't absorb that" [sic!] or whatever.... The problem isn't the spectrum but the advertising....

I'm not really sure to what SPDs or lamps you refer when stating they did so without the benefit of FRL? As all HIDs contain quite an effective dosage of FRL and even white LED have something like 3-5% on board, it depends a bit on CRI and K temp. One would have to use a "NASA" light made out of solely monochromatics to not have FRL in the SPD.

Now when I write FRL is very effective then this could mean a number of things, one is the selectively excitation of photosystem I (PSI) that starts when the absorption of PSII sharply declines at around 680nm, which is where its funnels core (p860) has its max-absorption peak. Still, a bit of FRL is absorbed by PSII, but only about 1 out of 10 photons, the rest is increasingly absorbed by PSI.
Now this is much of a greater difference as the ratio of PSII:PSI absorbance in the PAR region. Thus, FRL is very effective to do away with the exciton overflow happening at the binding site where PSII hands over electrons to PSI.

^^ for a leaf (it really doesn't matter if it's lettuce as chloroplasts/photosystems are similar for all plant species), what's important is the reduced fluorescence when FRL is introduced, as that is a very strong indicator of a better photochemistry (less exciton loss via fluorescence),

Which shows net canopy carbon gain in a rigorous approach with or w/o supplemented farred light, and very interestingly, the small arrows also show the decrease in photosynthesisrate when the supplemented FRL was dropped shortly. Now this very drop is bigger in the "RB+FRL" setup than in the "White+FRL" setup - because Bugbee used a warmwhite 3000k spectrum for this, which contained already (IIRC) 5% FRL (the RB next to none).
In other words, we can even discriminate between the longterm effects of FRL on the habitus of a given plant (also including bigger leaf-size from the phytochrome effect) against its immediate effect on the photosynthesis rate.

But there's far red light in the model the OP is talking about, too. Are you saying the OP should buy additional FR lighting or not?

What experience did the some guy have in growing besides his opinion on his crappy light purchase? Is he the guru of all gurus? Seems like everyone looking for that magic light. There are many companies to choose from, To many not doing homework to make a good decision.

Hey bud, thank you SO so much for that light scale there. But question.. is that the light scale for the SK7000d? Like.. that exact one? And also either way.. I saw one guy who had a genius idea where he stuck some of those full spectrum light strips against the back wall of where plants would go. So either way.. considering also that I am a EPICALLY HUGEEE fan of HLG, and their Scorpion Diablo (wishi could have afforded it and also wish I could of even fit it), and also a HUGE fan of the new commander and chief of lights.. the Scorpion Diablo Far Red (I LOVEEE that light! I want to have its babies šŸ˜‚), given all of that.. I am STILL on bored with giving some kind of far red supplemental lighting. So.. the question still stands.. do y'all know of any strictly red.. preferably ALL red.. and even more so.. Far Red.. lights that I could use to supplement my lights during flower?
Also question.. would you guys like to see my sealed grow that I have been building? It's nizeee :)

But I WILL say I have been growing off and on for around 15 years or so.. give or take. Just THIS time.. I went all out. Look guys.. I am building a completely sealed grow (so I can use CO2 properly without dying in my sleep lol). Here.. I'll take some pictures. One sec..

Ok so.. "Duh Box!" as I named it.. was built by me. It is three and a half feet wide by five foot and seven and three quarters long. And stands as big as I could make it.. eight feet tall. Yes it IS on wheels.
That black hole you see on the side on the left wall is just a covered hole.. for now. For whenever that dual hose A/C gets placed inside Duh Box and the hose goes through that hole and out to that window. It being a dual hose air conditioner.. I won't have to worry about losing any CO2 (Thank you to whomever gave me that realization about a year ago when I first started building this :) ) That smaller contraption you see there is my BEAST of a dehumidifier. All water collected will ALSO be fed right out the window to water my dad's garden. That white wall covering you see in Duh Box is the BEST space age like covering in existence.. Orca! :) Love the stuff. Talk about BRIGHTTT reflection! As you can see I'm sure.. I haven't yet finished covering everything in there with the Orca.. but I'm close. I also have an 8" AC Infinity fan and also their special edition XL 22" carbon filter that I will use with it. It will be set vertically in the back left bottom-ish corner, but only for filtering odors and NOT shooting any air outside since again.. this IS a sealed unit grow. I haven't gotten the doors fixed up yet. But what they're gonna look like is more Orca white on the inside of course. However.. since I'm not entirely sure Orca can keep a seal and not release CO2 through pours it may have, there will be a layer of thick black and white Poly called Panda, that's kinda like a plastic tarp like material. So the door, then Panda, then Orca over the Panda. Now.. how do we seal it you ask so I can pump it full of CO2 (And yes I have a BADASS set it and forget it controller!) ? Well I have some D foam rubber stripping that's going to go around the outside frame, gorilla glued on the outside of Duh Box, and then the doors will be placed against the foam stripping and then locked in place. Hence the reason you see all those clamps everywhere on the outside front around the entry doors. One door is smaller than the other. The smaller one is the one I took a picture of that's up against the wall.. since it's the way I go in and out of Duh Box to work on it. And then there's the bigger door which is currently clamped down on the right side of Duh Box. The right larger door will be the entry to the plants. The left smaller door will be entry to all of the hardware and equipment, such as the air conditioner, Ac Infinity fan and carbon filter, dehumidifier, and regular wall fan, and controllers. Which by the way I forgot to mention, I got a regular fan that pins up and it's gonna go all the way up on the side of the top left wall.. right above the air conditioner. And there ladies and gents.. is my bad ass light! It's got amazinggg reviews. And yes yes.. I fully admit that that one guy made me nervous. But nervous or not.. if it's even true or not.. it STILL got me thinking. It got me thinking that technically.. it WOULD be better to have some extra red lighting or even better.. far red lighting.. added to the flowering period on the plants, especiallyyy since I am planning on utilizing CO2.

So.. there ya go. That's my grow setup my gromies. Hope y'all like!
Oh and PS.. we're ALL weed heads here. There's no need for hostility or name calling or name calling insinuation here guys. I never once said I knew everything, aren't we ALL here to grow in the knowledge of our craft.. and teach those who don't yet have said knowledge? Look.. all I'm saying is.. let's all keep it peaceful ok?

PPS.. I'm gonna keep looking for some red lighting that's 660nm that would be possible for me to utilize.

But I still have one question that remains.. where the hell can I find either a brand spanking new, or just decent or even at least a semi decent 100lb CO2 tank for hopefully cheap? Lol I know I know.. you guys will just say check garage sales or something lol I dunno.. I guess I was just hoping that one of you would magically be all "Oh yeahhh! I JUST so happen to know a friend who is selling his brand new and still shiny CO2 tank for only 80 bucks!" šŸ˜†
We can all dream.. can't we?
