I tried it a few times and, luckily, I never caught a downhill edge but watching those around me get slammed into the trail convinced me that skis were where I needed to be.

I'm a dumbass so I do stupid shit sometimes. I figure anything stupid that I can do on a snowboard I can do on a pair of skis so.....
Yeah and I feel like facing forward is just better overall lol. I think they make step in bindings for snowboards now that release like skis if you crash don't they? I haven't skied in some years... but back then it was all ratchet bindings... I always thought naahhh... I want my equipment to come off if I duff it that bad... so I can fall down the hill without shit smashing me in the face. 🤣 Same reason I never used the pole straps... just let that shit go and tuck and roll bhuuud lol. Gotta crash a few times in the process of learning how to do cool shit. 🤣 Now I'd be happy just to make it down successfully and without blowing out a knee I think... my dare devil days are done....well mostly.

Hmm, maybe you’re right. If tossing it halfway, he’s down to lighting up every 25 minutes. Much better, Dogg!!😂

In reality, I’m sure you are right. But I suspect he drops it in the ashtray maybe a third of the way down. Or even a quarter.
I bet the roach game with him is thick. Can you imagine being the one that has to "empty the ashtray"?!!!???

DAMN

Just so ya know:
March 2023
  • 21st – 22nd
Cultivate and spray, do general farm work, but no planting.
  • 23rd – 24th
Favorable for planting crops bearing yield above the ground.
  • 25th – 27th
Seeds planted now tend to rot in ground.
  • 28th – 29th
Excellent for sowing seedbeds and flower gardens. Best planting days for aboveground crops, especially peas, beans, cucumbers, and squash where climate permits.
  • 30th – 31st
A most barren period, best for killing plant pests or doing chores around the farm.

I make bangin margaritas... fuck that margarita mix... simply Lemonade and simply limeade for the win... and gold tequila because I prefer the flavor. Also some fresh lemons and limes obviously, bit of salt... make a giant pitcher of those and head to my river... ahh yes... good summer days indeed.
If you like to shoot tequila, try Cuervo Reserva de la Familia. It's expensive but smooth as silk!!

The one time I attempted to snowboard after literal decades of skiing, I got over confident, I was like oh this is not that much different, easy peasy, started cruising along pretty good, then bam, spun around on an icy patch, caught by back edge and came to an abrupt halt, broke my tailbone and smashed my head pretty good... this was before helmets were cool... luckily I had my hair up in a big bun and it cushioned my head lol. I was like wtf, I've had some EPIC crashes on skis, some off jumps, off rocks, even into the trees a couple times off the trails... one time I bombed a trail just to see how fast I could go, I hit the snow making machine's drift, which was thick, deep, wet snow... buried my skis and because I was going so fast and stopped so short, the bindings released and launched me like 10 feet. It was ridiculous and all I could do was laugh... after I caught my breath... all those fails and no real injuries.... I snowboard ONE TIME and literally bust my ass. That's when I knew I was a skiier, even though boarders are probably cooler. 🤣
That hurts just reading because I've been there. It is the single worst thing that can happen while boarding. Catch back edge and seemingly unknown forces literally slingshot/catapult your head straight towards either snow or ice. Incredible how quick it can happen and there just isn't enough time to protect your head. So thankful for your hair in a bun cause that could easily been a concussion or worse. I've found ice to be particularly unforgiving. Evil shit prolly gets off when hurts us 😡

I can totally see you flying through the air skii-less at top speed. Definitely one of those calgon get me out of here moments. When I was maybe 9 or 10, I had very little fear and I was night skiing by myself at night at wilmot mtn in Wisconsin. The mntn was so small it wasn't hard to shine lights on it and make it "night-ski" ready and I think it was open till 10 or 11. Anywho it was getting late and I was on a chair-lift with some kids I didn't know and we made a plan. Once off lift I would go right and they could go left down a back entrance to another run, and we would meet at where the 2 runs converge because there was a nice jump there. I would fly off from my way and they from theirs, and whalla it would be cool and we'd look like Olympic medalists or some shit. Well that was the plan 🤕 I don't know how this must have looked from a camera angle but from mine, I took my jump on time and was who knows how high in the air and somehow one of the kids that was jumping from the other direction was so far beneath me in the air that I clipped his head/helmet with my skiis 😆 and we both were thrown completely off course and crashed like whoa. I will never ever forget crashing, the complete yardsale and all my shit is everywhere, I'm skidding further and further down the mnth on my stomach and I'm thinkin "God I hope that guy is ok" and all I can see is stars. Was 1st experience ever with those tiny space ship super bright light "stars" you see when close to knocked the fk out. I looked and saw them and put face down in snow and closed eyes and then looked again and they were all still there. I was like shit am I blinded for life and forever plagued by these microscopic LED lights in my eyeballs 😂 or is this going to go away. Thankfully everyone ended up ok but sheesh those were the days. No fear. Go literally as fast as could go and shoot off a jump and hope it all works out. I absolutely loved skiing as a kid. Was some of the best times of my life for sure.

I really need to get a new set of boots. The Langes I have now are almost 15 years old. I saw some boots the other day on line with some sort of weird round thing thats like a cable reel and it laces the boots like a snowboard boot. BOS or BOA or something like that.
That's how my new ones are.i will never go back to laces.

Never tried skiing, I have always boarded. skiing does look easier and faster. I did water ski one time. The worst wipe out i ever saw the guy was on skis. We were at search mount in Canada one spring break .they were having a jello jump contest.huge pit of jello the size of a swimming pool big jump.the last guy down cleared the pit of jello completely and went right into the crowd of people gathered around the pit.took out a bunch of people and he broke both legs.

They step in but don't release when you crash like skis.

Ya I have seen those stars before a few times playing ice hockey in high school.only saw them once snow boarding.we were at Breckenridge in Colorado one year.they had a huge half pipe.i had never riden one but was over confident because had been pulling off sick jumps for years.my first time down it I got huge air off the wall and was going into a spin trying to do a 360. Didn't know those half pipes kinda give a little flip upon departure. Proceeded to spin from my 360 attempt but now I'm inverted upside down from the vert of the pipe. Came down directly on my head and neck.luckly I was like 17 and still made of rubber.it must have looked cooler than it felt because when I got on the lift with some younger kids to head back up they were like man that was amazing.one asked me if you call that a rodeo flip.of coarse trying to play it cool 😎 I was like ya been been trying to land those all week.lol it's amazing how much your neck can bend.

My local mountain always does a pond skimming competition in March where they make a big slush/water pit and people bomb the mountain to try and gain enough speed to make it across the pond without sinking and all the spectators cheer or laugh hysterically depending on the results. The first time I did it as a kid I learned the importance of keeping your tips up and leaning back because I sunk after a few feet and lurched forward into the slush. Fucking unpleasant and cold af... I did better the next year lol.
