I love it! please continue sharing your story. I use bokashi to with all my organic kitchen wast to 'fix' my poor clay soil. It's easier than managing worm farms and takes *every* scrap of organic output.

Please advise on companion plants. I'm growing some fruit/veggies in large pots and cannabis seedlings popped up in these pots a few weeks ago (tomorrow is Spring day, YAY):
- Strawberry has 1 canna-friend
- Ginger has 1 canna-friend
- Tumeric has 2 canna-friends
- and I"m also planting citronella around my garden to keep the squitos away. I'm hoping that it doesn't chase the bees away from the flowers that need pollination. not overly concerned about seeds on my cannaplants...i only get a few seeds per outdoor plants as long as I'm meticulous about removing the males (had 1 bad year with more seed than bud on a few plants because I was reluctant to kill the hermies).

SO! you wouldn't notice unless pointed out but the inside of the cage is kept completely clean and the stem is kept dry at all times, no water within 6in but my cages are about 30 in from the stalk and i tend to stick on the edge and thats it. I even keep any loose dirt away exposing the top roots, high and dry is a super safe bet. You can see outside the cage its free game, i have put now appox 6in of OG matter, starting with compost and fermented alfalfa pellets and the last layer you see is some sudan grass grown in the hood. We are in NM high desert, i am very diligent and really preventative and i STILL found a squishy spot on the stem pictured. Idk if your doing that but in one pic it totally looked like a heaping mound of straight beautiful worm around your stalks.

Your plants look amazing my friend, and this advice is from one OrGanic grower to another. I have killed huge beautiful plants by transplanting a little too deep

Looks like I missed the bus. I missed sex i.d. with a fire o.g. she was a he. So I let him hang out until he started dropping. Sometimes I feel like they do there own thing, and they use us to help them propogate themselves! Am kinda happy about it too! Fire o.g. just crossed everything. This style creates a handful of seeds per plant. And my garden has some sweet plants to cross to! Excited for new genetics!!

Got 3 trees raked up. Our sugar maple, and our 2 birch trees. We have our last 2 dogs buried under each birch. Ilio was our first. He was a golden retriever. And daisy. We only had her for one year. She died In the river. She was a golden doodle. So the leaves from those trees have the spirit of our pups. And now can bring it to the garden!!
After the leaf layer, will be a layer of great lakes seaweed. Thanks @sailorjerry.
Then top will be composted cow manure, and rice hulls mix. Let it sit all winter, and plant in it end of may!! Am so excited for next summer run. This years smoke is super fire!! Pretty proud of myself this year! This regen is work, but free!! And now I can positively say its #betterthandispo! So farmers, drop the bottles and let the calmag go! You wont regret it!!

Plants have been hanging in shed since nov. 14. It's cold out, so will have em dry in a month or so! Lol super happy with the harvest this year. Got density. And terpene expression. And most important, effect! I now trim as a job. And gave joints to the staff, and got the staff high as hell!! Growers just staring at plants. Ppl just walking around aimlessly. Trimmer taking waay too long to trim a bud. Lol not much got done that day, and I am proud to be the reason!! My weed kicks ass this year!!

We're now in Autumn, so i've harvested a lot of my veggies, but things are still growing. some updates from my side on this companion growing.

- Strawberry and Ginger turned out as males -> culled without hesitation
- Tumeric - there were eventually 5 canna plants, 2 males culled without regret

Pics of my suburban Vegetable Jungle:
1. foreground: the brown pot has my Tumeric + 3 beautiful Northern Lights crossed with ???. Background, over 1.8m tall Northern Lights (2nd generation from a non-fem pack that I bought and carefully pollinated). This is growing in the middle of a bed that has/had these in this season: Pumpkin/butternut/squash, Mielies(corn), Sunflower, peas, Holi Basil (Tulsi), citronella.

2. a Zkittlez crossed with ??? in the vicinity of more pumpkin, tomatoes, chillies, spring onion, various herbs
IMG 20230327 WA0008

3. Pure ZkittleZ with a Banana and Stevia. The lemon tree is a few metres away, and provides noon-shade. hence the dropped lemon

4. I'm sure this is Northern lights (certain It's the same seed package from the NL in pic 1). It's planted nearby pic 2, so similar friends.

Dropped some cover crops, trimmed down current cover. Was getting bigger than plants. Lol and did some lst work. Had to move the "landrace" paki punch away from the pine tar o.g. I call it my landrace paki punch because last year this spot was the paki punch. And this plant is a low fat landrace looking indica. Leaves are bigger than hand. Lol seems to be the paki leaner. The platinum punch is more of a modern hybrid cookie type structure. Perhaps she needs to breed with someone, since she is a surprise plant! Oh yeah, forgot to take pic, but found a shroom in the bed this year! Super excited for this one!!

I know this post is from a while back. Can you give any details to how your cover crop has held up over the past year. Did some seeds over winter beter than others? Are you regularly mowing or trimming between the rows? Has the hairy vetch climbed any plants? And do you test your soil?
