Very 1st grow…Learning as we go… (Caffeine Clone & Northern Lights #10) (Spider Farmer 2x2)

Day 60 Flower Vid. No water since 5/5 -lights went off 5/6 and will probably harvest tonight or tomorrow morning likely.

On 5/8 they were cut and began drying. Buds felt fairly dry to touch after 5 days and the buds are curing in jars now. Only 3.5-4 16oz jars full so not a big yield by any means but I’m gonna try again and see what we can do to produce a little more next round.

Congrats man! Buds look a bit airy (correct me if Im wrong) but it definetely looks good in terms of trichomes. How much amber did you go for with the trichomes? Dont get me wrong, youre gonna love that weed when you smoke it and you did a great job, specially for a first timer, I just wanna know what might have caused the buds to not be more compact so I can give you advice for the next time as I had this happen to me in the past more than once for different reasons. Again, great job, many first timers would wish they had those buds!

I have had good stuff and found a seed or two before so I’m not totally discouraged about the quality just yet and I haven’t noticed any seeds In caffeine. I don’t know where I went wrong but I’ll keep tryin. Maybe I didn’t water enough and not enough nutrients. I only used these each twice and maybe I need a lot more.. also spending energy making seeds instead of fat buds can’t be good. Did it self pollinate or maybe a little pest flew in…idk?

I was going for 25-30% amber trichomes but no tellin how I actually did. I may try waiting longer next round.. a friend recommended I grow some Gorilla Glue 4.

Ive had very decent weed even with seeds. Most likely one of them hermed, if youre not checking specifically for male polen sacs or "bananas" inside the flowers it can very easily fly under your radar. I got confident once cause I didnt have an herm for years, but I was using cheap seeds and sometimes herming can be just genetic, thats why I dont bother with cheap seeds anymore. It was either genetic or stress most likely and thankfully you didnt wait more to harvest because you can easily get 10 or more seeds per bud if you let them go while polinated, at which point there is more seeds than bud. It wasnt underwatering and it wasnt underfeeding unless your plant ran out of green leaves and decided to herm for a chance of getting polinated before dying. To avoid hermies in the future dont let your guard down, learn to identify male polen sacks inside buds and dont buy cheap seeds or seeds from a bank with no reputation because the genetics can ruin your grow (Hermies or plants that grow too tall or too small etc). Gorilla glue from a reputable seed bank is a very productive and sticky strain, a classic and easy to grow.
PD: Dont get discourage this can happen even to expert growers, specially when its hard to check on all the plants due to space or ammount of plants. You will never have a seed from a reputable bank herm on you unless you did something to stress them a lot, which can also happen but is way less likely, specially once you have a few grows of experience.

What soil/media did you grow in? When did you feed it with the Geoflora and what amount? What was the ppm In/out you were seeing with feed?

I used Jacks 321 and is not going well near the end. Will probably switch to something else

As a first timer I kept it real simple. Just used ocean forest and the organic geoflora veg and bloom. I gave two doses of each of the Geo products. 2 times in veg with 2 weeks in between and also the same with flower cycle and the Geo bloom. Actually the second dose of during flower was half of the recommended because I was seeing slight yellowing on the tips of the NL10 plant. I water by hand using weight mostly and I really never watered till water ran through the bottoms of the fabric pots until it was flush time. So I don’t know for sure what went wrong..

as time goes on you'll see how easy it is, I've been growing for 3 years & easier by the grow, I haven't posted any yet b/c I don't need to grow anymore as of yet

After a little manicure. Super satisfied with both NL and Caffeine. Stinky, sticky, and smoooooth!

That was a awesome first grow. You are going to toss out those seeds you found right. They are likely hermie. You would not want to grow them out. My suggestion for your next grow when you think it's time to harvest take some close up pictures and ask for advice as to are they ready to cut. I post pictures on 3 different sites asking if my plants are ready to harvest. I can say it was not until my 4th grow that I got a yes they are ready on my first asking. My first other growers had me wait 16 days after I thought they were ready. I did harvest 1 of my first 4 plants on my first grow when I thought they were ready the rest I waited for most of the people online to say they are ready. Man did I wish I had waited on that 1st plant. It was good smoke just loose buds. The other was OMG great taste set my butt down for the count.

you used coffee grounds? I heard that years ago but a guy I knew around 25 yrs now told me about using Epsum salts it's like a steroid for them

I use epsom salts weekly along with homemade calcium, the result is a calmag with sulfur that I use for late flower. My base fert already has calcium and magnessium but for bud fattening I like to add more. Caffeine is the name of the strain he is talking about in case you got confused about the coffee grounds. I have used them in the past in my soil but now I have way better dry ammendments. Theyre good for nitrogen if you dont have anything else, they also have a bit of pk, and they help with the acidity in the soil if you dont over do it but yeah, I moved past them.
