Subbed up
I just popped my one and only bean labeled "Mexi skunk breedstock" that ive carried around with me fridge to fridge for several years.
Hoping and praying for a male. The seed is supposed to be a cross made with afghani land race pollen, over the mexican fire hair sativa land race. In other words, a recreation of the very first skunk f1 cross back in the late 70s. A commercial grower friend of mine back in KC did the cross, and i ended up with a single lone bean.
I have a lineage i call the peaceblaster. Is half columbian land race, and It's a several generations of sativa dominant F1 as it sits currently. I have 4 phenos going right now. Most the plants have expressed largely oldschool skunk. Earthy, musty, savory, skunky profiles. No sweet, no citrus, no fruit. Seed mother was all eucalyptus and menthol smoothness.
I would absolutely LOVE to be able to hit a bottom branch of all of my peaceblaster phenos this fall with some "original skunk" pollen so fingers crossed its a male. If it's a male ill be cutting it up into clones to bring into a little 2x2 tent with a t5 and a hepa exhaust only no intake. And ill be preserving as much pollen as i can in the deep freeze. Im stoked that seed even popped so easy, its approaching 10 years old now. If it's female, a clone will be kept around as a mother til i can do something with it worthwhile.
Although this may look like it would be some sweet, fruity, dainty thing... i assure you, it is not lmao. THey all seem to skunk out on ya through flower so far. Although one smelled like straight up beef ramen bouillon.
Second photo from a friend running one through a super soil mix atm. Says its straight pungent, musty, and all skunked up. Thats almost verbatim quote.
Wasnt an intentional skunk, but thats where it landed after turning it into a total mutt after several generations of F1
Anyhoo, if that mexi-skunk is a male and i get some pollen preserved, wanna be on the list? As long as pollen is sent during winter, and goes straight back to the freezer, itll usually keep for years.
