Never tried that! I just fill the bottom first, packing it as tight as I can, sprinkle some mycos, grab the plant, place my hand over the top of the soil so that the stalk is between my middle and ring fingers, carefully flip upside down and pull the pot off with my other hand, then carefully place it in the new pot, and start adding handfuls of dirt around the sides, stopping to sprinkle more mycos as I go, and gently but firmly packing the dirt with my knuckles, all around the sides. I really pack it in tight, and cram as much dirt in there as I can without disturbing the established root ball. Then I just water it in until it's completely saturated usually with a light feeding or just plain water. Usually see increased vigor and new growth within 24 hours every time.
