It's raining today and tomorrow where I live. Buds are heavier so I tied some yarn around the whole top and tied the heaviest branch of Granddaddy Purple Ultraviolet back to a stake. I have pinched off a few small buds with rot but she's doing well in general.

Does rust do anything undesirable to the plants?
I have a ten pack of miracle grow fiberglass stakes, only four feet tall, but stout, so I will try them first.
Also picked up 6 pvc poles today!
When I researched it, I could find anything in writing about it. So, I just pounded them in. Pretty sure they were 10'. Just a pain to deal with, somewhat heavy and awkward. I do know that the EMT conduit works excellent for the garden. That $2.99 price was really why I was requested the type listed. I can't find anything that inexpensive at that height for my garden. Hell, even the tall bamboo pieces are outrageously priced now.

It'll leave little dusty amber patches on stems it runs against.

If surface flakes get on flowers it'll be a nightmare to remove without damaging the flowers. But the flakes them selves won't actually hurt anything no. It's just broken down oxidized iron or steel in most cases. which is actually something plants can even use if it's in the root zone lol.

Hey Eternal, hope you can keep your gals vertical with all that weight. I have a tip for supporting tall plants. I take an 8 ft plastic coated steel stake ($2.99 at Lowe’s) and drive it into the ground about 1.5 ft. I then slide a 10 ft x 1.5” PVC over the stake and I have a pole tall enough and strong enough to support the main branch on my 11 footer. You could tie all your branches to one support post and if you need added support, you run one of your long strings from your barn to the post. Just a thought for your tall plants.
Thanks for the great advice!

Are those the 4' ones? If so, what else is holding the PVC? Just the MG stake?
