My first attempt at harvesting some pollen outdoors now that the plants weather is nice. Will I fail? Maybe. But I’m sure I’ll learn something. I’d usually cut em down and throw em in the brush pile but figured I’d try to harvest some pollen and stash it away.

Got a few weeks to go i don’t really know I never grew out a male lol

i would get the black plastic off the pots, thats going ot get hot enough in direct sunlight to burn leaf tissues.

Collecting pollen on black plastic in sunlight=dead pollen as well, def get some white vinyl or some oil slick sheets imho. If those pollen grains get up over about 101f they die really easy, and black plastic in direct sun low wind, in 75f air can easily reach 120f

i also recommend spray-painting black containers white regardless of what species is in them if they are in direct sunlight.


Those plants also need to be weaned into real sunlight if theyre already that old grown indoors, they look fine for a couple days then theyl sun burn and their new growth will go all twisted and warped for a bit. If youre just collectin gpollen though, put them somewhere theyre only getting 1 or 2 hrs direct a day, rest shade, and leave them there. Theyll prob stay in flower more then long enough to collect before spring is even over before reveg, the nyoull get another chance this fall should there be any issues males make more then enough pollen only getting an hour or two direct sun if its real sun

i give 2 hours direct sun a day for about 5 days to week before i throw them in full sun, by the end of that 5 days usually giving 3-4 hours direct sun. Seedlings are actually much much easier to wean into real sunlight then mature growth thats always been under grow lights. Im planting my popped seeds for outdoors today, and ill have them in full sun outside within 3 weeks Tops. Prob more like 2 weeks.

My grandparents lived in Colorado Springs and they had a Great Dane for years that lived across the street. His name was Marmaduke and he used to play with small car tires and toss ‘em way up. It was hilarious.
