Poly tape is fine, there are times when numbers are just advertising and you're min-maxing for things that don't exist. Take that $ and get one large fish tank and one only a little smaller, then a nice fish tank heater in water between them. Inside that is guaranteed 90% humidity and perfect temps. This is great for fruiting and spawn. Make a tank for each. I can't stress how good rock solid temp is for fungus.

Ima type out a long ass reply for the benefit of others that don't know everything already and are following along....

To begin with, I never said anything about fruiting in that post. You have to have good contam free grain spawn to begin with, in order to inoculate the fruiting medium. If you can just stick a needle in a bag or whatever with success... More power to you.


These lids are primarily for liquid culture, which you don't seem to be very familiar with.

Liquid culture is hands down the fastest and cleanest way to inoculate grain—period. It’s already colonized with mycelium strands that are long past germination, so you're skipping the risky “will it or won’t it grow” phase. Plus, if you tested it on agar beforehand, you know it’s clean—guaranteed contam-free. Unlike a spore syringe that only kicks off growth at a few small points, LC hits the whole jar with a healthy splash, and within 3–5 days, it all takes off like wildfire. Shake it up once after inoculation, and you’ve got explosive colonization from end to end. No brainer..

And look, not all cubes are created equal—and neither are growers. Strains like Penis Envy and Melmac aren’t your average cubes. They’re dense, ropey, slow to colonize, and demand precision. That’s why it's best to run liquid culture tested on agar—because then you don’t waste time playing spore roulette and pray it doesn’t contam. LC’s already loaded with verified, clean mycelium. You don’t inoculate one little spot—you blast the whole fn jar, shake it, and in 3–5 days the myc is off to the races in the entire jar all at once. No weak-ass germination delays, no guessing games.

As for fruiting, that's a whole different story for another day. So until then, you do you with your fish tanks.

Ima do me with $2 totes from the dollar store, so I can run multiple strains at the same time; once per year.👊👊✌️👍

I am just saying that a couple of your comments pertaining to the fungus situation in particular seems slightly passive aggressive, and there’s no need for that. You know we’re all homies here its what I’m all about and don’t think for any reason that I didn’t see your post about the fact that it needs to be dropped and move on


That being said.
Let florida go through his motions. Hes a smart cat. Hes taken some tips and wants to try some things, as a person who literally repurposes everything under the sun, i get whats hes up to. Its alm a bold strategy and it just may work.
your fish tank apparatus sounds cool. I’d love to see it in action.

and am sitting on the patio puffing away enjoying a beautiful sunny so cal morning at 67F. THIS is what I'd miss most if I ever moved away from here. The greenhouse lights come on at 5:20 and I've got some up potting to do.

I've been swearing I'm gonna update my grow blogs this week and every time I think about it my phone battery is about dead so I'm gonna take a walk up with a flashlight, or torch for you in the home countey😉

Poor thing was so top heavy she fell over twice before I turned her around, leaning her against the house and added blocks around the pot. So while this #1 certainly doesn’t look like a #1 and it may not produce as much as any of the other top 4 she was the biggest and fasted growing of them all and I've got about a dozen rooted cuts that will not be allowed to grow this long and get so big they fall over but they will produce a lot of good smoke😉

She's about 5.5' tall and bigger around. She was in a 2 gallon pot at flip June 1 so I gave her a 4 gal nursery pot 2 weeks ago and there hasn't been an issue since.

Also flipped June 1 and got a 4 gal upgrade 2 weeks ago as well. Not quite as big as #3 but not by much. #5 & 6 should be ready for jarring as they came down June 30. I'll have to check as I'd really like to start smoking it soon.

Mainly shady here under the Loquat tree. I did place a BBHP here that was germinated by a male GDP last fall to mature and possibly that's what this is. Doesn't matter, I always get sentimental when a seed fights for life on their own. They never get very large and once established and I see them I'll start watering. Got a soft spot for these suckers that will never produce much🤣
