the cold or really a few nights below 55 will cause nutrient uptake issues especially NPK,. once the leaves have dried up or close to it or lifeless looking than pick them off and discard,.Getting a little spooked lately, with all the purple leaves dying back from the cold snap we had a bit back, only to do it again a couple nights ago.
Kinda worried that I'm gonna loose most of my leaves before she can finish. My maple tree, and other trees in the neighborhood are turning and dropping, too. So maybe it's just me.
Definitely not a disease, or bug interaction, it's more of what I'd expect a a plant coming to its end of cycle, by eating any reserves. But it's early September...!! Unless this is a fast flowing, strain.....that I don't know.
I'm seeing a lot of u other guys up north have leaves changing, too. So that's a relief for me, as well.
A few pics

So I'll let her ride, she was destined to die, anyhow. Too close to the end to change anything, IMO
That's been my routine, so far. I've been letting the plant eat the reserves, till they yellow or dry and curl.the cold or really a few nights below 55 will cause nutrient uptake issues especially NPK,. once the leaves have dried up or close to it or lifeless looking than pick them off and discard,.
the cold thus earlier if it continues really isn’t a good thing but i think we’ll be fine,.
Nice color on there. Is that a skunk plant? That's been my routine, so far. I've been letting the plant eat the reserves, till they yellow or dry and curl.
Seems to still be reacting to the bloom nutes I've given it the other day, buds are still swelling, all seems healthy. It started with the oldest leaves, on only the top third of the plant. On the eve of the 8th, temps dropped to upper 30s, was 42 by 7:00AM. I checked the plant once I came home from work, the mid section was covered in purple, extending to just the very tips of leaves near the bottom.
Everything is changing colors up here, so I'm not too worried. As long as it doesn't get cold like that again for a couple more weeks.
Buds are looking good so far, just need a little more time.
Leaf litter. Best fertilizer!! Trees can reach nutrients no other plant can reach.Trees in my area changing
No, this is white buffalo.Nice color on there. Is that a skunk plant?
I saw the purple and thought you may be raising a purple skunk plant. I have one that's 7' and watching the colors develop is fantastic.Leaf litter. Best fertilizer!! Trees can reach nutrients no other plant can reach.
I till then into the garden each fall ( maples all around me ). And the rest come spring clean up.Leaf litter. Best fertilizer!! Trees can reach nutrients no other plant can reach.
Do you get any maple flavor in your plants? I use wild cherry wood chips off my planer and put around mine with a few pine shavings. It seems like it has enhanced that natural pine smell a little in the plant itself.I till then into the garden each fall ( maples all around me ). And the rest come spring clean up.
