Where up in the mountains do not no if are post get threw

I'm not really a brown pot kinda guy...but I do have a strain that cures brown...have a whole jar of these buds...they are almost two years old...probably going to make edibles with em. Apparently not gonna smoke it.

OOOOOoooKay. So,
Today was 70+ degrees, really has me ready to get outside and start working in the garden!
I am going to try not to get too carried away...
What are some techniques that can be utilized for outdoor plants? I have seen pictures of old timers with 15/20 foot plants. I would go insane trying to trim an amount of that nature but, I would like to do it just once!
If any one has ideas or suggestions, please, let's discuss it!

I have always pretty much been an indoor grower but would be interested in growing outdoors. Its my understanding that plants should not go outdoors until after Mothers Day due to the “Plant Perceivable Light” is not enough to keep it from flowering until after that.

I would think you would have to somewhat mimic that timing and hours before putting them out.

I would also think for big plants you would not want autoflowers but either regular or feminized plants.

Maybe grow in the bottom half of a 55 gallon plastic barrel in a wagon so you could wheel them into shelter during a storm or inside a 3-4 foot in diameter chicken wire cage that’s tall as hell and some way to cover it if need be?

Do we have any VA. outdoor growers that can advise?

Hey F1 and Merc, I'm in suburban northern Va and I've been growing 2 or 3 feminized plants outside each summer since 2020. I'm lucky to have a space in my back yard that gets sun early morning till late afternoon. I think that's a big factor for getting big plants.

I don't have a shed or anywhere to hide them from wind so I plant them in a pit 3 feet across and 2 feet deep and fill it with a mix including lots of composted manure. We get a fair number of thunderstorms but I'm in a subdivision of duplexes so that blocks a lot of the most damaging wind. I pound four 1x3x8s in the ground around each plant and tie string around to anchor and protect the ladies. Haven't really experienced any wind damage. There have been hurricane remnants come though the last 3 years which can change the weather cycle cool for weeks and dump tragic amounts of rain.

The gardening journals say May 1st is safely after frost danger and good to plant but last year it was cool and rainy way into June so weather can have a big impact. The length of day at the beginning of May here is about 14 hours and by the end of May it's about 14.75 hours. Can you start plants from seed in a tent with 15 hours of light a day for 2 months and not have them flower before moving them outside?

The biggest threat I've faced is tomato caterpillars. The little bastards. Moths fly in at night and lay eggs and when they hatch patches of brown appear on the buds as they devour from the inside out. Sprays haven't worked for me. I'm planning on trying netting this year starting in July.

I've had plants 8 feet tall. My friend up in the mountains 100 miles from here had plants 12 feet tall last year. When you get a harvest of 1 or 2 pounds per plant you need to plan an "Octoberfest" trim party and invite trusted folks over for a day of hard work. You have to plan ahead to have enough curing containers for all that flower.

Outdoor growing is a different experience. It's mostly about the weather. If it storms every day for weeks or drought takes hold for months your sad and forlorn and cursing the gods. If it's warm and sunny and rains once a week your golden and you have stash to last years. Go for it!

Here's the harvest from the Blueberry pancakes scrog. These buds smell really good and they have a nice purple color but I didn't get a whole hell of a lot out of it. Just nine ounces after 9 days drying. Similar outcome as last summer when I grew it outside.
But this grow the temps were between 65f and 70f in my basement and last summer tomato worms got into the buds and I had to harvest early so not sure really if it's the variety or the environment that limits the harvest.

Nine oz from a 2X4 does not sound so bad and could easily be the variety. Hows the early sample smoke? As long as it puts a smile on your face your golden. Im at day 31 on my Mimosa Cake Autos by Fast Buds. The last time I grew these I only did 17 ounces in a 4X4. At 30 days in they were drinking a lot more than there sisters are now even though these seem to be a bit larger, I dont get it. About another 55 days and I can compare the two runs.

They look nice and bushy. Did you top them or did they do that on their own?

Second that.. 9 zips doesn't sound too bad at all. With two plants in a 2x4 and a 250w light I usually get around 7-10 zips (7 if I'm a bit slack with canopy filling, 10 of it's well filled), if I cram three in and stay on top of defol and training I've pulled 11.5 but that was just a freak strain yield wise.
