It does keep it level. The constant bending over of the main stem will slow the flow of auxin to the side branches so they catch up. If those get too excited, you knock them down too. The plant will keep shuffling hormones around until it's like a bush.

Its almost like im reading a dirty novel...all talkin bout main stems n bending over them side branches..Mm Mm Mm.

That's where I am right now.....the buds are full. I have a bud thats trimmed and cleaned.....I'm gonna quick dry and give 'er a smoke.....I need a taste tester...any volunteers??? @Hossgrows

The cheese in the shed is putting on her big girl pants. The one upstairs got a net. Not a lot of room left up there. They start off leggy but usually fatten up pretty good.

I've a question, this Pbb X Okie is getting a little tall. You said crushing the stem, then letting it back up would re-route hormones so it stops getting taller. At least on your plants. Do you think that would work on this one?
It's 2 feet tall and I'd like it to go outside in a month, but need it to stop growing.
Oh, and where would I do the deed?
Unless you think I should just top it?

That one looks like a good candidate for topping. Because the growth is already mature enough to be differentiated you may have to cut lower than you think for a true bush shape. Any higher than where I marked will still be Xmas tree like.

You can also super crop it in the same place. The weight of the top will keep it bent over a bit and make a big knuckle that will help hold it up once it flowers. Fun if you want to keep the big main cola and try a new technique to see the effects first hand.

This one has a lot of vertical momentum already and you may have to repeatedly beat it into submission cropping it to get the effect you want. Do you think you have the stomach for that? Lol

The closet cheese got topped and super cropped again. This tent is waaaay too small to be flowering plants in but here we are. I figured this is my best shot at keeping her under control.

Last spray of STS will be Monday. The brown pistils and the twisted new growth are a good sign everything is working according to plan. I should see the first male sacs around 4/20

The closet baby is starting to stretch enough that I had to raise the net to be able to tuck the branches under. She's getting clobbered by the light really hard and it's tricky using this tiny pc fan in here. The cut and everything else is getting woody already from all the super cropping.
