Grown since 2025! Backyard shed edition!

Day 28 of flower. 15 min of UVB per day in three 5 min events, at hour 5, 6 and 7 of the light cycle. If the leaves show no signs of burn or stress over the next two weeks, I will bring it up to 20.

Have you used the UVB before? Ive read about its use with cannabis and have always been intrigued to learn more.
How's the heat with these? I see most are used for reptiles so I imagine they get pretty warm.

Your the first grower I've seen use it and I'm real curious.

Yeah I've been using it for about 5 years and still tinkering with it.

This unit is intended specifically for growing I'm not sure you can use the reptile ones, but there's basically no heat. It will sunburn the fuck out of your plants if you're not careful though.

Hello Farmers! I'm getting back to my roots and doing things the hard way again. Circumstances prevent me from growing in the house so the shit show will be in the backyard now. Space and resources are limited so this thread will mostly be about making the best out of a difficult situation.

I have a 4 by 6 resin shed from Costco, a 2 by 4 tent, spider farmer sf-2000 and Cali lightworks uv-b. Two 4" AC infinity fans for intake and exhaust and a small circulation fan to handle air movement. The intake and exhaust are piped directly outside bypassing the shed entirely. I'm going to try to run positive pressure in this setup in an attempt to mitigate the effects of hot air in the tent and help keep critters out.

That's about as far as I've got and will finish assembling it today. Hopefully in a week it will be tuned up and ready for some plants.

Yes, I've read that far into it. It can cause problems if not done properly. Some decent benefits I've read about.

Harvest quality, increased resin and trich production, sweet terps, help with molds.

Have you seen improvement? 5 years is a long time.

Personally, I'm convinced they make the flowers produce more trichomes but only if the plant is healthy/strong enough to respond to the UV stress and has the DNA for it. It won't turn a 20% plant into 25%, but it should force whatever you're growing to max out it's potential.

Without a way to do real testing, I'm stuck with my confirmation bias and constant tinkering around.

Dude you totally need to research a high temp cannabis strain and make your own for people who live in a volcano.
Call it Hellfire Haze or Widow on Fire.

The idea of using one is intriguing. High altitude growing in a tent is pretty cool. I may have to play with this someday. Thanks for sharing the info

It's not so much "high altitude" as it is just trying to bring some of the outdoors into the tent. I'm not one of those hydro growers that pretend my indoor synthetic grow can match or beat outdoor organics in terpenes/secondary metabolites etc, and I think a big part of that is obviously the sun. So if we can match the low and middle color spectrum and get close enough in intensity with our regular lights, what's missing?

And it's worth mentioning again that I am very aware of the possibility of a healthy dose of confirmation bias here without numbers to back it up. However, if it's something that doesn't hurt (not always the case with UVB) there's no reason not to add something that gives you confidence in your grow.

Wanna use 12 sensors and calibrate them all every week? Abso-fucking-lutely! Peace of mind is priceless 💚

This is where I have trouble with indoor growing. I'm trying very hard to record everything and keep to a schedule, but my inner adolescent chafes at all that number crunching and just wings it. (usually after I have my cookie) LOL

Got a free 10 pack of Blue Lobster seeds and some goodies from @ILGMOFFICIAL

I appreciate the shout out and I'm happy to trade my opinion on a thread for some free gear! I picked the Lobster because it's really specific in it's morphology and terps, so it should be easy to distinguish how close it is to the original clone if they did indeed use a selfed plant to make them.

I will start a separate diary and put them on the next run. We'll see what kind of fuckery we can accomplish. 💙

Congrats!
So, "This lineage was built for the connoisseur."
Does this mean you have to hold your pinkie out while you toke on a doobie? LOL
