What I begged to Officer when caught!& 3 steps Mr.,
Good look’n out but yes, installed floor pan, drained all run-off (hardly any) of all plant pans. Not watering again 3-5 days when nematodes & mosquito bites arrive and low at that. My soil drains for sure but holds too. Careful watering w/light dry out. Yes, upstairs. Opened house window in back w/tent floor vents open (and some light door openings dependent) and humidity drops big to 45% to 55%. So, leaving window open till late afternoon. Shut off @ 22:00 hrs., doors open, house 35-45% humidity. Exhaust can’t get here soon enough! It is nagging me that it looks like you're right over top carpet, maybe plastic barrier underneath, are you upstairs? Did you safely install the floor pan? Might want to test it with 2-3" flood episode while you're home, seen a few preventable very bad accidents, 2¢
Good Day Freebird,I’d like to be included with Virginians. I would so appreciate friends knowing our grow area. Please allow me to receive your criticism and help as I’ll not only gladly accept but be ever thankful. Be advised, I’m totally new to cannabis but half a century of landscaping, vegetable, root, tuber, bulb, tree growing and compost/soil pro so in terrible need of info on this new journey.
Just learning about lung rooms. The room the tent is in is at least 6 X 12 larger than 5X10 tent, is heated in winter and cooled by HVAC & vented into room. With the door to room open there’s good air flow. The exhaust will be vented into room/house then, obviously back through HVAC filter. Cooled air in summer comes from vent in floor nicely situated near vent openings in tent. The obvious attitude is to use the 5X10 as a complete grow through the seasons. In spring/fall temps the window in room can bring in cool (65 - 75 deg) fresh air. The cool, dry basement is always averaging 55 deg., humidity avg. 40% and used for dark, cool, low humidity hanging/drying/trimming flower. Then dried bud in mason jars for burping in said basement. That’s way more info I intended sharing but need your insight if at all doable. I like using K.I.S.S. method.
Thank you!Good Day Freebird,
Not sure how much you know about growing so I thought I would put a few things out there.
If thats the only light you have it wont be enough for that amount of plants. You will need about 35 watts (wattage that is actually pulled not what the manufactures equivalent) per sq foot of footprint of grow area at flower. The light you have should cover about 12 sq feet in roughly the same shape as the light.
Are you using any charcoal filters? If not and you want to stay under the radar you will need enough charcoal filters to get rid of the smell when it gets into flower with the inline fans and ductwork to support it.
In my opinion you will need humidifiers (appropriately sized) inside the tent and dehumidifiers outside the tent in the lung room to maintain the correct relitive humidity. I run one dehumidifer in my lung room and a large one in my small rancher to control also.
I recommend running the appropraitely sized black ductwork with an inline fan to bring in fresh air from the lungroom. This keeps you from opening and closing the lower vents on the tent which can cause light leaks which can cause issues with your grow.
In VA. we are allowed 4 plants maximum. One of the requirments is having tags with specific information on each plant. I would do this for each plant regardless of the amount, one less thing they can charge you with if caught doing anything accidentally illegally.
What medium are you growing in?
What nutrients are you using?
Looks like your off to a great start and remember to research, research, research.
I’m here, high stress training on my brain being new to this plant and frustrated due to half a century of veg gardening, bulb, tuber, plant, compost mixture success and tree excellent results. Pro landscaped for a bit as side good pay side hustle. So vastly different thought to be successful in this one. Surely didn’t expect to be here now in just about every way. Especially needing equipment like this. But here I am (pics incl). Are we the only two Virginia growers on here? I was sure there would be more.
Didn’t know to like the post as it’s a sad experience I hope not to as it’s my first attempt. May your next be better!SW VA here. Just finished trashing an outdoor auto with mold/rot throughout. No preventative measures at all except for a fan to try combatting humidity. Maybe all the fan did was push humidity into the bud. Mostly I do indoor though.

Desperate about this issue in my first grow. YouTube vids and others talking about Peppermint, Rosemary and neem oil regular treatments preventatively. But have to look up Lost Coast!Sorry to hear that. We do get the humidity in Va tho don't we.
I had spots on the buds last year. When I investigated there were little caterpillars so I did an emergency harvest and salvaged about 50% on that plant.
This year I've got Lost Coast Plant Therapy to try. It says it is very versatile and negates several insects and molds so I'm hoping I can defeat that kind of issue if it turns up this year.
I’ve worried a bit about this too (still do). It seems dehumidification is going to be needed indoor grows but this is my first and have a drying plan. We’ll see. My best to you. Hope it all works out!Ayeee my VA community!!! I've been looking for y'all lol. So I'ma start right off the bat here. I live on the boarder of Virginia and North Carolina in cana. I've been around growing since a child but this is my first grow on my own actually doing the work. I got three royal gorilla mothers that are out right now starting to flower, recently I was learning about the pH levels and got mixed up thinking alkalinity was to little of a pH level an acidic was high so I went and got espoma lime ph up anf gave it to them and their ph went THREW THE ROOF!! And they're extremely droopy at the moment. my pH up and down bottles just came in today and I now know the difference between alkalinity and acidic now lol but how much ph down per gallon of water should i use in a serious situation like this??!! Further questions I have, it's very humid here and I start every plant in my room which from a seed goes great but a clone before it roots wilts really bad and gets moldy. I cut the mold off and took them out of the humidity domes, put em in dirt and they grew like gold; how do i avoid the whole mold thing to begin with?? It also worries me for when Im gonna have to dry my plants. I read a bunch of tips such as charts that explained in certain humidity percentages the ways to differently trim them and for the humidity percentages here it said to fully trim the buds and stems off and dry them individually on their net since leafs an stems carry moisture. Which I planned on doing. But is there any tips that have worked for any of y'all personally??! My hvac is set to 72°f got my windows closed an vents open. at the moment I have a plant in veg about two months old that's a clone under a grow flourecent doing great, then I have a tray of clones in the humidity dome under blue and red full spectrum grow lights cause I heard it was a better color mix for them but they keep getting moldy!! and no roots are coming out of the rockwool yet when vegetable seeds i started a week after them already have roots. Advice?????
I’d really like to know the outcome of this for you!I started a separate thread about this, but since I am sure a lot of us in this thread are in the same boat (hopefully, not literally) are any of you planning to cover your outdoor plants with the expected rainfall from tropical storm Debby? I have an auto that is I think getting closer to harvest time and do not want it to get so wet it rots, my 5 photos are in early stages of flowering, so maybe OK.
They are planted on a slight grade, so should not end up in any standing water, but the concern is real.
I was thinking of maybe using some cheap PVC sheet (paint drop cloth type of thing) that is clear for sunlight, but should be protection against the worst of the rain. I'd still need to watch them as I could see it going from dumping rain to crazy humid, especially under a plastic sheet, in the blink of an eye.
Hope it worked out but from half a century of veg gardening, bulb, tuber, plant, compost mixtures turn out like “super soil” but I’ve been doing that many decades, and trees. I’d never plant in this clay. Never. Not a snob, it’s just what I know. Raised beds here for sure. Maybe gallons containers would be great (got a couple like that, others raised beds). My care for VA friends would necessitate pushing knowledge of compost and mixtures. And then there’s purchased soils, Fox Farm & etc.. YouTube has excellent growers for info.I thought a lot about this before I put mine in the ground cause the dirt around here is nothing but clay so even little rain sits in there. I made a little drainage system out of PVC from the bottom of their holes out the side of the decline they were on and it's surprisingly worked great!
Welcome to @freebird919! The upshot for me with Lost Coast was that it didn't help with the caterpillars that I bought it for but that's on me since it doesn't actually say that it will control caterpillars. It does have a pretty impressive list of things it will control like powdery mildew, fungus gnats, whiteflies, mites, botrytis, aphids, thrips, so I'm keeping it around and will not hesitate to break it out at the first sign of any of those. What I should have used for caterpillars was a BT product which I have now.Desperate about this issue in my first grow. Fascinated reading about LST so much I had to try this a.m. on 6 Zkittlez auto staying in tent. Including pics and hoping for critique. Should leave this or return to normal?
Yes it is one of six I’m doing and stopping with. They are all Zkittelz auto I believe. I had to install a new Vivosun 8” AeroZesh T exhaust pro with controller that will take some real time to learn. Just joined FB Vivosun group awaiting approval to help with the learning curve. That purchase to help remove/control humidity (HVAC register and window next to vent for intake). I’ll keep in touch,Welcome to @freebird919! Looks like you have enough plants and space to experiment with all the LST and HST that you feel inclined to, so have fun with it. Is this the pic with your LST experiment? It'll be fun to see the suckers from the lower nodes take off and get a nice bushy plant with no growth interruption from topping. Keep us posted please.

When so new and parenting this crop, I must be annoying. I’m sorry. It’s been raining and 90% or + humidity outdoors. Odd days indeed cause a few ago it was 30%. Tent is 68 ish. Thinking of testing out HVAC venting into tent just to see (one register). Not sure of settings on Vivosun 8” exhaust controller set at 3 for fan speed. Maybe should up it as room intake is 63%?Welcome to @freebird919!
