The GDP I`ve smoked had a slightly sweet/sour Grape flavor,rock hard nugs and dank,dank,dank! The clubs rated it a ten.Don`t know what all you been smoking!

grandaddy purple is an attemt to beef up the purple urkle gdp consists of purple urkle crossed to sensi sed stock big bud not to be confused with the real big bud bred out originally in the early to mid 80s in northern cali the bc and amsterdam big bud are barely if any relation to the original big bud

Sorry my GDP does not come from a cross but is a phino type of `Old Grand Dad`.I`m just now flowering some of the `Kin`s cut` GDP ,maybe it is a cross as you said? Old Grand Dad has been around from the 50`s,maybe longer. The clone only GDP from it is more resent maybe 1979-80? I have heard about others GDP and just thought it was the same stuff.I`ve even smoked others but it wasn`t as good as mine.I just thought it was the way it was grown.Maybe I was wrong? So far the Kin`s I have is only a few days into flower.The plants look alike but my GDP seems more vigorous and a little thicker looking leaves. I gess I need to finish out this Kin`s cut before I go any ferther.

no offence but he does have the 3 cannabibles and the first one was in collab with robert connell clark and how many of those strains have you actually seen to photograph and then get them published with discriptions like the one you read how many i dont know but he has the published work we really cant hate on the dude for really having the best job EVER how many of us farmers read his books or browsed thrue the pages just wishing you were lucky enough to find half that herb but he has and so because of all that im gonna take his word for it

I have grown GDP twice and urkel once, that being said, urkel is def. a high yielding plant. The smoke and taste seem to be a little better with the urkel. I have been a green plant grower, but the people in OAKSTERDAM want their purple. I have had a hard time gittin rid of the greener stuff. not that I'm am a for profit org. but I need to recoop my time and effort when it comes to this shit, and I do not want to drive to L.A. to supply the dispensaries. I currently run a 4x8 hut with a cap ebb and grow with 6 600watters in blockbuster hoods( 3 on top and 2 on each side) sentential chhc-1 controller with a 50# co2 tank,split A/C from the house, and4 can fan max 8" fans.works for me.about 2.5 per run.

When that guy gets older maybe he will be able to say he has seen half the herb I`ve grown myself! LOL! Anyone can publish a book, but that doesn`t say everthing they write is correct.Don`t beleave what you read and only half of what you see! That`s what I was tought by my Pop! I find lots of mistaken info in grow books myself.

Ok just who first said GDP was a cross or hasn`t been out very long? Ether there GDP is different or I have a different ,older strain.I`ve grown this strain as far back as the 80`s! And I know the guy who made the strain,or at least the one I have. It also doesn`t turn green outdoors unless grown in colder weather.Sure seems alot alike to me! Again I`m just now flowering out the Kin`s cut cause so many people on the net keep saying it`s the best of GDP.We will see!!!

You have to admit he takes good pictures. The information on the strains are a different story. I think he made half of the stuff up and got the other half from some stoned growers. He asked me about the Chems and stuff way back on OG. He published word for word most of what I told him and used it for the Chem Dawg info in the third book.

i got a negative reputation and thats cool opinions we all gotem but i got a problem when people who dont even post in the thread leave negative reputation points behind when they dont got shit to contribute i wasnt being a fuckhead or disrespectful to anyone and i left a quoted paragraph from i guess a somewhat reputable source so hows that for gettin at ya and this in noway includes the people who have posted prior to this post

More specifically, SALMON CREEK (Humbolt) BIG BUD was used in the cross.

Not the Sensi Seeds version.

And real big bud is skunky and narcotic.

Royal Kush (Purple Kush) is supposed to be the bigger phenotype of Urkle. The Urkle was released to the public, the Royal (purple) Kush was not. Purple Kush is a bigger plant than the Urkle. You will especially notice the difference if you grow both outside. The Urkle makes bushes, the Purple Kush makes trees.

Emerald Mountain seeds (CA) has seeds of Pure Royal Kush, It is Pure Kush by Royal Kush.

I haven't seen seeds of Urkle or GDP. Just crossess from OGRaskal.

Ken's cut of GDP comes from Ken Estes, founder of the Grandaddy Purple Club and maker of the GDP cut know as "Ken's Grandaddy". His club speciallizes in grapey purple strains. Kinda ghetto feeling club but good genetics. It's right of off Hilltop Mall drive in the East Bay,CA

Apothecary Seeds has Grandaddy Grape Ape in seed form. But I have never seen his seeds offered anywhere you can order them. I guess you gotta know the breeder.

There both slow as shit, lower yielding, both will purp up nice, especially with temps dropped...and tasty as a mofo..i run kens gdp and the urk cut. There isnt much difference between the 2 imo, at least not enough for anyone to completely rave one over the other. They are pretty dam similar. Grown right, they have some of the best flavor of alot of cuts around. Your not gonna cash crop wit'em but its something thats always nice to have in stash. Nice chill, relaxing type buzz too.

For all the people arguing this one is stronger blah blah blah.. I recently have experienced a phenomenon where a grower gets a true elite cut and cannot grow the stuff the same as the person he got it from. I mean basic facts, here are many variables to the final strength of the product.. So don't discredit GDP or the Urk just because you got it once and it was nothing spectacular.

man- the real gdp is def WAY better than urkle- urkle doesn't compare - gdp's high is the epitomy of 'high' - I've never smoked anything that makes me feel so happy and satisfied. The taste is complex and exotic- I smoke every day 3 to 5 grams depending on the day - from diesel, ultimate indica, s.a.g.e., blue moonshine, chem-dawg, lavender, sweet haze, canalope haze, nevelle's haze, pre-98 bubba, La confidential, og, afgoo, nightmare, banana, urkle, etc... concentrates- bubble hash, keefe, nepal hash... been to Amsterdam a couple of times- the first in 97' the last in 2008- and never had I had something be the best all around satisfaction (i did love bubba and ny diesel for a long while) - It has to do with who's growing it and how- and most important the cure- this strain isn't like bubba where off the bat you have killer weed- it takes at least 2 weeks minumum to get what you want out of gdp- at least- It keeps getting better with time-just like wine- don't have to comment back to me- I'm posting a response to the question at hand- and stating my opinion- I'm not asking a question or wanting anyones opinion. Thanks

i smoke royal kush, and still have a bit. id have to say imho its not the urkle at all. if it is then, its a very small amount. i think its more bubba than anything....a pictures worth a 1000 words so ill post one.. ill even post a few. where are everyones pics at anyways? this is a long debate for no pics haha..... and even then, isnt this all opinion anyways?....
