#3's are looking excellent. I have always wanted to try Kali Mist but was scared of a long flowering time.

The variety this round is just kick ass.

Actually Kali Mist has a 70-90 day flowering time and this cross with Blue Hellfire appears to be closer to 70 days and her cola is pretty damn dense for a sativa dominant... :rock I finally checked the trichs tonight. BTW, I overestimated the diameter and she's close to 2" at the thickest part of her cola...

So far the LED's have been pretty amazing... I brought those 8 mothers back from near death. I haven't run a cost comparison, but each 126W panel costs $475... Also they still generate some heat from the fans and vents, but the glass is cool. So a fair comparison would be a 500W HPS, plus digital ballast, air cooled hood, and exhaust fan and the extra electricity required due to twice the wattage and amps drawn by the exhaust fan. :thinking

As for smokin' I really haven't kept track... I smoke for insomnia and a little bit of anxiety... :smoke And to slow me down, cuz I move pretty fast...

Alright, enough of the veg shots… Yesterday I finally fed all the soil plants in the veg station after feeding only CalMag the last couple waterings to flush out the buildup of nutes… And I’ve use Mad Farmer’s N.U.T.S (Nutrient Uptake Solution which is essentially humic acid) for the first time.

Shady Round 5 Bloom Feedings… 6/6/10
Start of Week 8... Actually Round 5 was flipped on 4/13/10 and the first week I considered Week #0. Today is officially Day 55, but I always take my girls to the limit and will probably harvest by Day 70 as planned.

This means that this is the last res change of nutes and the flush will begin on Saturday, which will leave me with 10 days from that point until harvest. I’ve also been battling aphids and fungus gnats and I watered all the girls with 5 ml/gal of SM-90 and 5 ml/gal of CalMag yesterday. Now onto the res change:

Based upon a 40 gal res (50 gal res filled with 45 gal of RO)…
CalMag (CM): 5 ml/gal or 200 ml total
GH Micro (Micro): 6 ml/gal or 240 ml total
GH Bloom (Bloom): 9 ml/gal or 360 ml total
Hydroplex 0.5-4-10 (HP): 5 ml/gal or 200 ml total
Flora Blend (FB): 5.0 ml/gal or 200 ml total
Total PPM’s(@ 0.5 conversion ratio): 1297 PPM’s @ 5.85 pH

Over the course of this week I plan on diluting the res down to 1100 PPM’s on Tues and Wed. Then I’ll dilute it down to 1000 PPM’s on Thurs and Friday. Here’s a few bud shots taken on 6/5/10; despite having daily temp spikes up to 85 deg and not having CO2, these nugs are solid…

I finally checked the trichomes on all the plants today and there’s roughly 35% clear, 60% cloudy, and 5% amber on the 7 diff strains (not counting all the diff seedling phenos). Today, I’m finally happy with Round Five… :happy

All is on point except the Hydroplex should be replaced with MOAB at this point. Build up the MOAB from 100-300ppm based on how they react. From my understanding the ratio of PK in hydroplex isn't ideal for late bloom. You are close to the end here so I would be hitting them with MOAB, small consistent doses, and stop worrying about the leaves because with the high PK in MOAB, your plants are going to direct all their focus to the flower and aren't going to give a flying fuck about the leaves, hell the flowers are gonna end up sucking all the nutes out of sugar leaves.

Just be sure to lower the base a bit and keep that cal-mag going. If you notice N tox, like mine lower the cal-mag. Next round I am definitely going to supplement the cal, mag, and N seperate, I feel that cal/mag supp don't give me the control over the nutes as much as I would like. Keep your eyes out, if you spot any let me, and I will do the same.

i top and fim and super crop the issue you run into is that base sometimes cant support all the weight the plants put on i advise if you do that you get support im bout to put a net in there just for support it get kinda tricky sometime whole damn plant starts falling over and i mean over on its side i top ever lower branches sometimes end up with super bushy plants that way i mean they really do look like strait bushes

Round Five… The Final Flush

Whew… Round Five is now on cruise control. The last week of MOAB seemed to do the trick. Today I final flushed all the girls with 15 gal of R/O water and a little over 1 tsp/gal of FloraKleen, all of which was set to a 5.8 pH. Before I post the bud shots I took last night, I’d like to recap Round 5. There are 8 clones in coco and chunky perlite (1:1 ratio), and one clone in hydroton with the remaining 7 hydroton pots being the original seedlings germinated in the OP of Round 4. It has been a long journey for these seedlings, and this round has brought forth new challenges and first experiences with coco, drain to waste (DTW), and mixing two diff mediums in an automated system.

As summer began and Round 6 was set into motion, the rooms became very hot… daily temps of 85 deg in the bathroom and 82 deg in the bedroom, and undoubtedly lower CO2 levels from all the plants including those in the Shady Veg Station. The additional plants and the upcoming Under Current addition will require proper ventilation, A/C, and a chiller. For now, let’s all enjoy some eye candy…

The res has now been filled with RO set to 6.0 pH and I’ve added the secondary screen to keep the upper colas in place.

Things are also looking good in Round 6 LED test grow, but I’ll also need another screen there at the end...

The girls were fed the following mix wherein I’ve discontinued the N.U.T.S. and lowered the overall PPM’s. The PK booster will be used in Wks 3, 5, 7, and possibly 8. I’m not sure when to discontinue use of Roots Excelurator, but I will def continue it through Wk 5:

Just wonderful man. Very beautiful set of flowers. Hard to pick a fav from the pics, everything looks great. I reckon this will be your best harvest to date.

LED girls look great. It will be awesome to see the final results with them. I am already sold on LEDs for the most part but your results will be great in showing me if it is the right time to make the switch or still wait a bit more for the technology to mature.
