For those of you looking for cooling coils, i found another site selling larger chillers for 1/3 the cost of hydro innovations. bob actually mention micro brewery hobby industry as a good place to look. figured id share it with u. i dont know the efficiency so if sumone gets on plz share the results. im considering buying these especially since the stainless tubing comes up and bends over the edge of the bucket for clean install and hardpiping. hydro innovations has tubing that comes with it and isnt as clean looking to me. anyways heres the link

Cooling Coils Wort Chiller

Lol, that's where I got mine from, but I got the one twice as long as that with a larger internal diameter (that one is 25' and 3/8" ID, mine is 50' and 1/2" ID). Since I'm limited with my water, needed to go as big and efficient as possible.

Trying to get it setup today but it's a mad dash to get this octagon setup ASAP, so we'll see - I'll definitely let you know how it goes, though.

EDIT: In case anyone's wondering, yeah, my girl does love that I'm using the kitchen for PVC storage.

haha fukn bob. mang u sound like me. my pad is littered with crap and supplies. my pits tore up a huge box of 144 4" RW cubes and i came home to a rockwool mess all over. actually was concerned but they were fine. now i try not to leave any supplies lying around the house in random storage spots haha.


but man thats a huge ass coil haha.
im using the other size only for the reason that im running 13gallon buckets and the one u pickedup would be too tall. i havent even double checked the measurements either. still swamped with shit.

and wtf!? today its gonna be 108* here!?
so dumb. so much for fall/winter. cali doesnt know wat weather is. it rained last week, now its too hot to go outside or work at the shop. my dogs are dying, my house is running 10tons of AC all day to keep below 85*
yest we went to octoberfest and left after an hour of drinking it was too hot at 3pm to be outside, even in the shade lol.

Yeah, that one's gonna be dropped into a 100 gallon reservoir (a brute trash can), so height will definitely not be an issue.

As far as pits, I used to have two (I've had more dogs than I can count) - came home one day, and one of them had eaten my girlfriend's (at the time) can of mace.

i havent gotten my UC setup but my partner has his setup but no plants yet. bobby is runnin a custom DIY vert setup so our setups are nite and day but good for others watching to see the importance and versitility of cooling coils.

i havent heard much about cooling coils as im new to them as well. i run the hydro innovations version but the wort chiller coils i havent bought yet. bobby mite know if they can be unwound, its a good theory and would be great for other applications.

-and by control rez for the UC epicenter, you mean a top off rez with RO sitting in it? i will always have a 200gall top off rez hookedup directly to the UC epicenter with a float valve. this way the nutes mixed in originally stay about the correct ppm then slowly get topped off with fresh RO. UC rez change is like every 3-4weeks as needed. i think most the guys are still changin rezs out like every 2-3 weeks tho. especially with how much the plants drink up in the UC.

Thx Boomer... Yeah, I meant the top off res. I'll have a much smaller one for my setup. Hopefully I can get by with an 8 gal bucket to match the rest, even if it means I simply add water to it every few days... :cool

good eyes. i actually never really covered it in this thread. i appreciate u reaidn everything before asking. but watering times for me IMO depend on lots of variables; photoperiod, growth timeline, plants general health, etc. the concept i like to think of for my waterings is u want to keep the rhizosphere damp. not dry or soaked. RW takes experience. everything i read about RW is always sumones opinion stating its for experienced growers. i would agree to a point but also like to point out this is my second indoor grow. i grew outdoors in soil once so doesnt count much. point is RW has a learning curve to be prepared to change gears.

so u can see as an example of my waterings to help answer ur question... and i will document it for myself (later) and others viewing;

My watering schedule;
Flower week 1-4 typically 4 waterings for 30secs each.
Flower Week 5-7 about 4-6 waterings as needed for 45-60secs
Final Weeks 8-10 varies depending on wat experimental feeding i am doing.

I am using drip to waste via 1/4" spaghetti tubing connected to circle drippers i made.

I dont wnt anyone to think this is correct or the best watering. im not here to claim that. i am providing details that produced the results seen in this current grow.
Sumthing i picked up on was monitoring ur runoff. i check PH/PPM/temps/etc daily... i check runoff whenever i see a change in the plant (good or bad) so i can mentally record it and ponder what did wat, and also document it in my notes for next crops. The runoff tells u a lot. for example; ur point about 65% being waste. i dont know wat i would say my % is but i usually judge the runoff rez level and see wat the plant is drinking up. when the plants are their healthiest strongest they will drink the most. RW will remain moist but dries out fast if u have a strong rhizosphere. so make sure u lift the cubes up daily til u get an idea of the weight. just like anything done with repetition, ull be able to recall the weight and see if u need to increase ur waterings. thats the best advise i can give. if u have weak plants with poor root systems, those cubes will stay wet longer and cause potential problems. i had pathogen attacks on my first crop. mostly due to my rez temps tho. anyways hope this helps u and others.

Harvest Time. No, not Saw. even tho the last SAW looks sick and faded 3D blood will prob make me sick.

Havent been posting for the last two weeks. I know ive been saying im working on the new spot and shit for a long time. but we literally have been sitting on the location waiting for the cash. Being a handicapped whiteboy i dont get much shit done and learning the trade pretty quick here. hats off to all my bluecollar homies. :joint:

I went ahead and pulled down Table 1 after an exhausting 11 fuking weeks. shoot me in the face. 8 weeker went rogue on overdrive and went bak into flower power instead of ripening. great product i just need to learn when to use it better next round. Anyways im annoyed that i was patient and allowed table 1 to sit for 3 extra weeks in hopes id see amber trichs but so far i havent seen any. i dont know the true genetics behind this og bubba kush but id hope its a true 8weeker. anyways im still stoked for table 1. fat swollen nugs, purple / light green appearrance with decent frost. table 2s frost is a lot better. on table 1 i see mostly all milky white trichs except on the fox tailed colas which still have white pistils and sum clear trichs. rest of the plants pistils are dark red/brown.
i did not do a dark period before i harvested table 1 since im still running table 2. last round i did do a 36 hour dark period so itll be interesting to see if i spot a diff. not a true controlled experiment since everything is diff this round but u get the point. handpicked off most the fan leafs and dying material. trimmed up the colas and decided i wanted to go for best quality method this drying round. i kept all the nugs on branches and will hang them for a couple days before the brittle branch snap test. then trim off the nugs from the stems then finish drying them on my dry racks and rotate everyday. this makes sure we get rid of stem weight and get a high quality hand manicure inside the buds that couldnt be reached before. i dont know wat to expect for the total dry time but i plan sumthing like 3 days hang slow dry for even dry, then screen dry and rotate everyday til i feel theyre ready to be jarred and cured. my guess is 2-4 days depending on nug size. i bought a hygrometer for my 1gallon glass jars to monitor an average temp and RH% inside the curing jar at all times. this will help ensure max quality retention with the cure. if i do it right. lol. fuckn IFs...

picked up 2 more glass jar boxes from good ol Uline.com
theyre local for Will Call which is nice. got sum slick new industrial gear and found a bunch of shit to make commercial sized operation a lot easier. I do have a sellers permit for a business so not sure if anyone public can but its worth a shot to check out their site. money talks.

So heres my notes off the top my head for these final and last weeks before everything is taken down.


Lowered My temps for the final weeks;
Day @ 78*-80*
Night @ 63*-68*

Lowered CO2 PPM;
Week 7-9 @ 800-900
Week 9-11 @ 500-600

Once i added the 1HP chiller with cooling coils, i noticed the purps and ran water rez temps;
Nute Rez temps @ 55*-65*

Trichomes;
Milky White

Aroma; Lemon pledge maybe diesel.... havent really decided haha. mite even be a blend.

How long do you normally hang dry? Whats the temp and humidity at? My last round of warlock i just cut like 3 weeks ago i got to hang dry for 9 days in a stable 65F and 65% humidity, The it was good to jar, after a week of a couple jar burps it was the tastiest shit ever! Haven't really had much curing exp so im trying to see what other people do there shit at. When i jarred it the stems were almost ready to snap, some did but most were still just a little bendy but the outside was just perfect. Anyway enough rambles Keep up the good work man!

things have def been in overdrive on my end. the purps came out a little more then 50% of the nugs which was more then i expected.
the build out is ridic, home depot twice a day. i havent done any of this shit so its def interesting. 1 step forward, two steps back. but im stoked to be learning all this shit and gettin the room custom to wat i want/need. i should post a new pic. walls are all up now. gettin ready to paint. but first enjoying a much needed weekend.

next round is lined up to be the same OG bUBBA since im on the hunt for a keeper genetic and pheno. picked up power kush seeds so thats the next strain rotating in.
im still researching best methods so this round i put my spare 10k AC in the drying room to get my temps at 7-*-75* and RH is at 60% right now. dont run dehuies so it is what it is.
this is the first time hang drying so we will see how long it takes. depends on nug size too.
keep checkin in ill get the details out.
