I hear people say all the time the pure g13 is gone and the closest thing to it is the g13 airborne cut. Which is g13 with like 2-4% northern lights in it but, I know the pure g13 is still out there. Just as I'm sure someone out there still has the original purple haze and all those other haze cuts......they just aren't probably online....I can assure you the monkey paw is still around so I'm sure many other old Skool strains are still alive and kickin

Man iv noticed a lot of the old skoolers talk about old strains from the 70s, 80s, and even the 90s.... To bad the canna world back then isn't what it is now or else there would at least be more easily to get hybrids or maybe even Ibl lines still around. Then again I don't really think cloning was used back in the day to much or I'm sure friends would have passed more friends genetics......just some food for thought.~Smf~

VERY FEW PEOPLE grew back then, SMF. At least that was my experience. I had a friend who grew in the early 80's in New Mexico who cranked out some very heady/early dank....and a college friend who grew some (rare) seeds from the thai stick bundles we used to get/pass along... but other than that...there just wasn't much "homegrown" around back in the day. There was no need..... pounds were $150 or less and we routinely had bales of the shit as big as yer stove in yer kitchen sitting in the kitchen ...(wish I could find that pic of the bale bigger than the stove...LOL).... oz's of black hash were plentiful and $100 a pop forever... bundles of 20 thai sticks were $185..... uuuhumm...uhummmm....uhummmm!!!

I personally didn't find out about cloning until 91-92.... LOL.... and was growing bagseed crops before I did.....under floros..... holy fuck. Had you have said "IBL" back then I guarantee NOBODY would have had a clue WTF you were talking about. Nobody was passing genetics around back then...other than maybe dumping a few hundred Lumbo/mexi seeds in yer buddy's trash after gatefolding out a dime bag and rolling it up in the EZ-widers.... Powerhitter..here we come....

FWIW....some pot had names back then..... but it was usually just called POT......(LOL) then we heard "Lumbo"...which covered all red/gold/brown pot from columbia......then when the green hit....even the Skunky green...it wasn't called anyhting here other than "KGB" (Killer Green Bud).... and Hell....I won't even comment on "kush"....LOL (but the old timers will know what I'm sayin without sayin a word...)

Without a doubt...... the names get more crazy and the tags regarding the year it was created just get farther and farther back.... like the pre 98... Pre 96 DJ Blueberry...'91 Chem va....'87 hashplant.....and fuckin A...... I saw a tag on something that claimed it was from the 70's just the other day. Um.....yeah......sure thing.... (everyone was trippin too hard or fallin down too much to care about genetics then...but it DOES sound good...LOL)

LOL....fuckin kids and their High times......... geezus H-Christ..... I AM gettin old.....

Was that just an old person rant :) lol

I'm messin with ya sky. I hear ya. My dad used to tell me stories all day about the 60s-80s. About going to pick up 20 plus lbs of what they were calling the gold. I'm assuming Acapulco gold. Skunk bud, paw, lime green ext ext. he told me he never saw any rip your face off smoke till around Vietnam time period and it was because his buddies were bringing bags of the shit back with them. I always assumed it was because all anyone really saw until that time was sativa type smoke and they were finally introduced to indica smoke. Probably changed the whole way people looked at bud.
I remember he told me that he used to take the screen out of his window at the house back in the 60s and 70s and just dump a pound out at a time and send hours just using the screen to "clean" his weed up. He said you would have piles of seeds and stems. He do it over a table and just collect what feel thru underneath. Lol
You should have seen how he was when we first started to smoke together. He was amazed at all the different types of buds there were. He loved the bubblegum and ak47 for some reason. But then again, when I used to grow the ak back in the day, that shit was soooooo damn strong. Makes you laugh at current day ak......now I'm just rambling lol......

Have any of you tried the Destroyer from cannabiogen? It's a mexi/columbian cross mixed into Meao Thai... curious if any of the older generation have tried it- if so, how it stands up against the classics.

I know for me if I smoke more than a few bowls in an hour I get mild auditory and visual hallucinations. Plus it tastes great
Got the beans, hope it is a winner. Harlequin flavor remind's me of 'lumbo little bit.

LOL about the screen. We used to use a gatefold (double) album cover or had a "tray" handy....

or you could use one of these.... LOL... (this is fuckin OLD SKOOL, dammit!)
Cool video. What to use for! seperating the seeds. Went perfect with this..
Power

edit: missed it, but skyhigh mentioned the powerhitter!

Wow sky high I was growing then as well, and my perspective is a little different than yours........

I bought IBL Afghani seeds from an old Cali grower who had been at it since the mid 50's,I paid 5-7 bucks a seed in 1979........
He taught me to clone in vermiculite in 1980..I sold clones all over the West in the 80' and 90's:)

Planted Sativas in my Dad's cornfield in 76 ,started indoors with VHO fluoros in 77,moved on to Halides in 1980 and started using HPS in 1984......

Breeding and trading was going on then, it was just on a much smaller scale
Some folks did know what IBL's were, and their importance in future breeding projects, even back then.....
