Hi

In the tropical regions where most sativas are from, the lenght of the day and the night is very similar. This is the reason why tropical sativas have a very long flowering time, if they were as fast as some Afghan plants they only grew two or three feet tall, as happens in Jamaica with the hybridizated plants that are so common now there.

Best regards.

Trocolo #13,

I do agree that the old original 60's and 70's Thai or Buddha Sticks were the best stuff around in the day. But as mentioned above, as some strain phenos today, some of it was really legendary and some of it was not so memorable. And I knew a guy who went to Vietnam in the day and personally witnessed 'tied sticks' of Nam bud hung from racks above pots of Opium being cooked down in tents in the jungle villages. He described how every so often the person stirring the pots had to be carried out and replaced by another due to being overcome by the fumes. Of course there was a line of pot stirrers eagerly awaiting their turn outside. :P So Opium fume infested stricks that made it to the USA certainly existed. And who would have known if it was really the Thai Sticks back then? Though I believe the bud itself really was spectacular alone relative to most everything else on the streets. Which brings me to the next point. It's difficult to relate memories over time in comparison to what's around today. Maui Wowie was all the rage back then too. But today it scarcely ranks among the best. And I'm sure it's still the original genetics as well. Ultimately it's just that those old original Thai, Columbian Gold and Acapulco Gold strains are much harder to find these days, though in small isolated pockets is likely still available. When one puts the looooong history of MJ in perspective it's evident that the original super potent stuff still exists somewhere due to enough people out there who are ecperienced and concientous about the true gange.

northone I travelled to Thailand in 2002, spent 2 months there and obtained a couple of different Thai strains.
I also travelled to the Burmese border and obtained 1 Burmese strain, some phenos of the Burmese appeared
to have some Indica characteristics. The Thai strains were 100% Sativa, tall, gangly, and very vigorous.....

The offspring were super vigorous but all the phenos had some degree of hermaphrodism which was carried on thru their
offspring.

The best phenos were super tasty like a mixture of grapefruit and tobacco ...... and yes it was an electric, psychedelic, trippy high that lasted for hours.

There really is nothing like pure Sativa's!

Super Silver or Mango Haze, Jack Herer, Kali Mist, NL#5 x Haze ( mr nice new version should be killer), Nevilles Haze and of course straight up Original Haze (tom hill, flying dutchman, ACE) Any one of those will produce excellent plants that leave you wanting nothing more.

i finally got my mulanje golds and only one cracked but im excited for it, ive been waiting to grow these forever so i cant wait to see how it goes and hopefully i can get some more to crack

also cracked about 5 of jjs nigerian hazes which i want to cross to the mulanje gold.. they should be killer sativa buds.. and also got a black afghani sativa that i wanna cross to the mulanje gold..

ive never done much with landraces but i really wanna start working some landrace sativas, especially african ones, something about african sativas really sparks my interest.

i cant wait to test these girls out and see what those pure sativas are made of!!!! the mulanje gold always seemed like a special one to me, and it'll be nice to compare to the nigerian haze.

The "best" in Sativa,is kind of missunderstood as far as I can tell!
The "proof" has always been in the pudding, and all equatorial locations have the climate to produce awesome weed, but to narrow down the "Buddha" was not very easy as years of climatisation produces stability in traits, some of the traits from landrace are undesirable to us modern farmers;like low potentsy and inconsistent potentsy, long flowering times, shitty tastes! And when a good plant came along it was not cloned.
It took the south east asian, southern indian, south amercan and island growers of the last 100 years, along time to come up with the top weeds, like,Golden Buddha,Island Thai,Mekong Madness,Dark Nigerian,Burmese Buddha,Sri lankan spice,Brazilian Giant, Indian Elephant,Borneo Boner,Bunda Archai Tea,Jamaican Jam...etc...all of which have all dissappeared, except,my favourite Burmese.
But I do not smoke this pot these days as it is really no good for muscle spasms, and the comedown is a real downer!!! But when your young and pain free,I would be working with the Burmese Sativa these days as it is an extaordinary example of what isolation amongst population, can produce, and is still available today in it's true form, and has not "peaked" yet,as new males are found there can still be improvement in the strain.
Peace!
sweet i have 4 burmess seeds - but ant find much info on them - mostly its burmess kush that you can get details on , i did grow out two before but was my first and only grow failure do to heat stress during vacation,

Burmese can be tall or short, berry, hazey, skunky, purply, tiny crystals but many of them, colourfull foxtails,no mlod, quick flower unique colour green, incencey after cure, perfumey, citrusy tasteing, potent, trippy, speedy, sharp, laughter, crashout, shakey, paleness, sweatting tiredness,spasms...great stuff!!![/quote well the burmese i grew out was very tall and green and stretched considerable but unfortantly I never got to smoke it, thought i could save it after 2-3 days of 105% heat but turn out like hay after i cut out burnt spots and finished it... gave that shit away.....will give it another run one day...but gotta get more space-freedom

Mullembimbi Madness came from Chinese settlers, who brought seeds to feed their birds. It vanished long ago.My Mum grew up on "Chinamans Hill"on a Bananna farm, where Madness still grew wild!

Really ?
I did hear a big STORY from one of the Spanish seed companys about some workers in australia blah blah... sounds like its a spin off from that. Thankfully that line has now died out with them but that was one of the very common Yunnan strains not the only Yunnan which the name suprised me(well and it being spelt inccorectly straight away told me they have never been to China as they would not spell the pinyin wrong due to the sound of the word).I only knew it had come from them as they had me booted of ICMAG for educating them on the difference(they basically told me that my strain was a ruderalis or an auto yet having worked with it i know very much differently i responded by saying they didnt know jack and I had bongs older than them.... of course true but got booted for it ! lol .(and a member chased me up obviously interested in my seeds and not the politics at that site!) The Yunnans are pleasant strain however. Another thing Chinese people would find this story as do I simply absolutely hilarious. Chinese DO NOT carry birdseed especially not on travelling LMFAO and are aware that DeMa is very much illegal. They dont go near it or recognise it rarely. Bird seed isnt a shopping list item in China (this is very funny really). Im not knocking you .... but i know very different about China. However you never know it could have been chinese birdseed that years ago would likely to have hemp or wild MJ seeds inside.
Im also happy to answer any questions you have with regards to Chinese cannabis to which my lifes works dedicated.
Any pictures would be most appreciated however sadly i know there wont be any!

However there are 3 other stories with regards to the strain you speak of the other stories dont say they came form China(a location will quickly bear answers for me and a leaf photo any extra info a bonus )

In contrast I personally went to China and handpicked many wild buds and kept the seeds and risked my butt bringing them back. I have seen hundreds of wild MJ plants and had a few summers blazing both good and bad buds. Some just gave you a damn headache. Ive kept the best but ive much to work through.
I WILL meet anybody that doubts me and if you would like to see two strains buds the Chinese Coffee and Chinese Dwarves they are in the RESIN CLUB Barcelona.

Please go see ..

I'm talking late 1800's ,bud.
Why do you say thankfully the line died out with them;isn't it a shame, rather.
Mikado from Federation is the closest to Mullem Madness, today!!! Hard to get a good Mikado now!!!
Anybody can say anything about anything.
Were they there?
Please,my Mum and before her,were.
Please tell me a fairytale!!!
Fill me in on your ANCIENT knowledge.
I'm ALL ears.
Better go and practice my own 40 Form Yang Family Tai Chi,and realax a while!!!
...

sure ive got number 41 for you !

im a preservationist...and a realist. You took offence needlessly and now i notice you spilled into my thread also ranting. get a grip, im not knocking your mates story. i just KNOW .as do a few others that have been in the game far longer than most.

The more research I do, the more I think that this title either goes to Afropips 130+ day Malawi Gold or the Acid Pheno of Tom Hill Haze. Has anyone tried either of these, especially the Tom Hill Acid haze?

That burmese is something I would really like to try someday. One of the few strains I have never encountered. That, and a real australian bush(red one or blonde) . . . Also australian bush sativa like the mullum madness.
