OH yeah, for your floor...

pond liner will work great. No need for epoxy or fancy shit. in a carpeted room or a concrete one, I will put a 4x4 frame against the wall around the whole room, and drop a piece of pond liner in. Then, panda film on the walls that comes down and over the liner. Now you can spray the walls, and if you have a flood it's just a matter of using a sump pump.

where can I go to take a look at these pond liners? Think Lowes or HomeDepot might have them? I was thinking of using linoleum but then I wouldnt know what to do when its time to seam two pieces together as they usually come in 10 feet wide rolls

I wish I had a better understanding of hydroponics before I jumped into it. I ran soil and organics fine, and then floundered for awhile when I got to hydro...

Don't buy a whole bunch of expensive nutes that I will never use and end up giving away. Also don't go cheap on my meters. Buy one good, expensive, quality one not 3 cheap and shitty ones. Another one is don't waste your time with other lights and buy 1k's. You will eventually. Might as well just do it from the get go.

These are all good points. So glad I went straight to the 1k lights and a nice meter.

Starting with trusted, good clean genetics is so important. My first grow I got some clones from a buddy that I found out later were infected with powdery mildew and thrips. I was up late every night squashing bugs and wiping leaves with different smelly solutions. What a joke that was! I was so into it though I would do anything for those shitty plants. Long story short, more than half that grow was trashed. The other half was not pretty and probably should not have been smoked.

Since then I logged many hours here and aquired a stable of very nice keepers that I keep in top health. Haven't received a clone from anyone since. Haven't seen bugs or PM since then either.

Spending more time on the planning aspect. Have you ever watched the movie "the italian job?"...if we all planned like them, we would all be killing it.

whats the one thing u wish u had thought of or knew b4 u built your grow area?

for me it would be how easy it would be to move around.

Electrical, more amps, more breakers. Also I really wish I would have started from seed rather than taking in clones. Taking in donated clones started a nightmare.

More BTU's for the amount of lights, more power, more room, more money, more knowledge, more everything. The list wont stop *cry*

skip the small watts and go big from the start. dont mess around with 600s, waste of money.

i would also ditch the hoods and buy a huge AC system.

i think i would also go from RDWC to chow mix top feed. less chillers and pumps, etc. less electricity

Curious as to why you dont like the air cooled hoods. I love them, lowered my temps by 10 degrees.

Mine would be light size. I started out the naive way, thought a 400 hps would be enough light to satisfy me, it wasn't. Now I am using 600's and will probabley move on to 1000's at some point, although I am pretty content with sixes right now.

thats because you dont have 1000s.... i was content until i did a side by side a couple runs. i would rather do 4 1000s than 8 600s. what a waste of cash on those 600s

First, pull your air through the hoods instead of pushing it- things will run a lot cooler, I promise.

Second, don't run chilled air- from any source- through your hoods as this will cause the bulbs to run cooler than their design temperature, which leads to reduced lumen output and an altered spectrum output, both of which aren't helpful.

The air you want to be temperature controlled is the air in the room, not in your hoods.
Agree pulling trumps pushing....think front wheel drive.....

I meant:

powdery mildew
seeded crops from a hermie
infestation of a shitty bug of some kind
elephants foot
pythium

Things like that. I have lost a few crops in my time.

As far as your fort... sure its good to be secure, but if someone wants it... someone will have it. All that rebar won't stop a gun pointed at your face.

The best way to be secure is to not tell ANYBODY, and spend extra money on sound deadening gear and lots of can filters. Be discreet. If nobody knows about your grow than a simple deadbolt will do fine.

Not believing the hype about needing 15 different additives and boosters and crap. Next run will be with dry nutes mixed myself. Those bright colorful ads in the mags will get you everytime!
