General Hydroponics ca/mg supplement is calimagic.... and yes it is calcium carbonate, but also has mag nitrate. Saying that calimagic doesn't register on a ppm meter is inaccurate, as 5 ml per gal is around 400ppm. Yes, this is not calcium carbonate reading, but it is mag nitrate and iron.

Calcium carbonate in coco is no bueno........it raises the ph and overtime it will get out of range, due to the fact coco has a high starting ph. Calcium sulfate(gypsum) is a better choice for coco. Supplementing coco before transplant is choice.

Calcium carbonate is good for peat.

i have switched from calcium nitrate (pbp cal-mag +) to calcium carbonate GH cal-mag this dosent register on the ppm meter. i dont get any burnt leaf tips since the change, health wise plants seem about the same. it may be me but i think they smell better too, could be the molasses in the cal-mag?

what you are saying is inacurate to my response. i did not say calimagic dosent register on a ppm meter, i said gh cal-mag dosent. before you say someone is inacurate you should make sure 1st. not trying to start a beef, just think this is how problems get started. GH makes a product called calimagic that has nitrate nitrogen in it. but the also have thier general organics line that is just cal mag (calcium carbonate).

You are absolutely right, Kid! The GO is Calcium carbonate and Magnesium carbonate extracted from fermented sugars. I have used many different CaMg supplements over the years and I find GO's to be the best for my needs as it is 0-0-0 and much easier to work with.

Well now your adding even more to the fuckery..........this is what leads to confusion, as you can't just call them all cal mag......

GH- Genral Hydroponics makes Calimagic
GO- General Organics makes CaMg+
Botanicare makes CalMag+
techniflora makes Magical

so Kid twist...to set it straight.....your talking about GO's CaMg+, not GH's calimagic
and what you keep referring to as pbp is botanicare....

Botanicare calmag+ is trash. The ratio is not only off for what most people are trying to add, especially considering the vast availability of Epsom salts if additional mag is needed. Additionally, there is a problem with fallout and precipitation in bottles. Shake it up and pour some out, and let it sit in a cup over night, you'll see.

As I stated before though, Calimagic contains calcium carbonate (CaCO3)and is going to raise ph so unless your in soil/peat base, or hydro you will have a climbing ph issue over time. Mainly referring to coco as it has a high ph level already.

Calimagic is a lot better than Calmag+ as it is a higher calcium to mag and even still lower N since is is CaCO3 and no CaNO3 (nitrate). I have used the GO CaMg+ and it works well, but again it is a CaCO3 so ph issue, but is mag carbonate rather rather than mag nitrate, hence the 0-0-0.

In my situation I'm trying to supplement the cal into the medium before the plants are there and just ride them out with a standard solution. Again referring to coco only here.
