Cops and Sheriffs need to uphold the state law. Anything else is treason and the punishment is clearly written out. I plan to write letters to a few county sheriffs in my area. If I get no reply I will ask to meet with them in person. I want to know where they stand because as we all know they kick huge handouts from the feds. If they support the federal position I will become very pro-active in having them resign and/or file charges against them.

"Warning to all Pot Smokers" (for what it's worth):

Keep in mind that was an editorial, which is one mans opinion. Sounds like a bitter conservative to me, Kind of scary shit about flaunting your grow or smoking however. Better close this site down.

Homeboy is a little overboard.

"DEA agents are right now salivating at the thought of identifying, targeting and raiding small-time pot gardens in Colorado. Those who flaunt their growing, harvesting or smoking will be the first who are targeted. Don't say you weren't warned."

Really? Small timers will be the first targeted by the DEA? Not the 5000 plant operations keeping the entire mountain region high? There will definitely be some form of federal response to all of this. However, Kolah, I don't think they are coming for your mountainside greenhouse any time soon. Thank fucking goodness!

A buddy of mine who is active in the industry in CO made a comment about the fact that both medical and recreational in CO happened by way of an amendment to the state constitution. This did not happen in CA, for example, and might be one of the reasons feds have been so much more active there. What he was suggesting was that by making a change to the state constitution, it adds a much greater level of complexity in terms of state's rights when challenged by the federal government. No clue how much weight this notion carries, but it is worth pondering.

We will see a multi-faceted response by the federal government. Threatening letters, some high-profile busts/shutdowns of 'above board' operations, and a handful of 'see we told you so' high profile busts of people who were moving product out of state. I don't see a comprehensive crackdown at all levels that starts with the little guys happening.

Who knows, maybe the leader of the choom gang no longer gives a shit because he can't be re-elected anyway. Maybe not!

I am not a big fan of the "Health Ranger" but I have concerns after seeing what the federal pricks did to Montana. And again, if the local and county LEO's don't respect state law it's open season for all of us.

I believe in Montana the federal government had the complete support of the state/local government. Like it was a concerted effort to disregard the will of the people. I have not seen any kind of meaningful local support for federal intervention in CO since the whole MMJ thing started. Has anyone else?

Has there been fed raids in CO where local pigs said back off? NO.

Did local oinks assist the feds in some (if not all) of the raids? YES.

To be honest I have seen a lot of folks from colorado back off lately. Waiting to see what is ultimately going to happen. Wild Wild west all over again. Don't think the small guy will be the first target. Would you rather catch a 12" brook trout or a 6llb rainbow. Keep in mind that politics and future positioning play a large roll in this. If Obama alienates some 50% of the voters it will turn out to be worse than the 47% that Romney pissed off. Democratic suicide. Poor Hillary.

Has Colorado seen concerted Fed/Local collaboration to squash the will of the people like has happened in MT? NO. (thankfully)

It has certainly happened in both places, but it's clearly a matter of degree. There is no shortage of dispensaries along the front range of CO. Pretty sure it's not the same in MT.

In CO it's been the exception, in MT it has been the rule. I'm not saying it won't happen here, but CO is a vastly different culture, climate, and community then MT. (thankfully)

Well, kiss your outdoor crop goodbye! Industrial hemp means industrial pollen. Our plants are now forced indoors, behind more filters and fans and wasted electricity...

Sigh.

gotta respectfully disagree with ya, OW. Feds are feds and have no respect for any state laws.

The feds are in a bind. If they do not up their force more states will follow. IMO, they will never let that happen. With the CO and WA passage I don;t think they will just roll over. They sent their message loud and clear to MT and Cali....why would they stop now?

The federal threshold in Colorado right now is roughly 1000 undocumented plants, you will still get a state charges not federal, no feds are messin with less especially if you do not own a bunch of property or have a pile of cash, the feds are all about the snatch and grab....not many federal actions if any right now for straight marijuana charges..there may be a few exceptions but not much...but unless you are really kickin it and you'll know if you are or not, you have not much to worry about..

Douglas and Weld county optin out of Amend64 is kind of trippy, Douglas county does not honor edibles recs either so beware, their position is if you want to argue your medical neccesity in court to justify your plants beyond the 6 allowed get to gettin but the law is 6 plants, not using any descretion by the officers at all, they will tell ya to get to choppin or getta charge....Keep in mind also that the non participation in Ammend64 only applies to unicorporated parts of the county, doesn't effect individual municipalities at all.

Still no continuity form city to city or county to county..

While the Obama administration hasn't been the best thing in the world for the scene--one thing which has been pretty fucking resounding from the DEA under him is that small-scale personal use/production isn't a huge priority of theirs (as it CERTAINLY WAS under Bush). Even if it's not medical, frankly--but especially when it's medical.

I think we can expect to see more of that. However--there might be some problems once distributors are licensed and the sale for recreation begins.

There's two ways to go on this for the feds:

1. Come down hard when the time is right.

2. Use the situation to spin off into a national debate about drug policy.

The office can't be perceived not to do at least ONE of the above things, the plan of action can't be "whatever."

It's either going to be, "we don't agree with that--stop it," or it's going to be, "alright maybe we need to re-examine this for the first time in almost 50 years"

Obviously I hope it is the latter, but history tells us pretty clearly that it's going to be one of the two.

I agree, the feds are the feds, and they aren't looking to help anyone but themselves!

Just picked up some stuff from the grow store and couldn't believe what was going on. First they had twice the staff they usually carry on a weekday afternoon. People were all over the place and not little old ladies wearing bonnets. There was a guy from Baltimore checking the place out and thinking of moving here and opening a consulting/grow business. When I finally got to talk to the owner he just laughed and said business was up 30%. Wonder how long it will last.
