Yeah Dieselduds there Something else if you ask me. I got one as a pepsi challenge Sorta gig awhile back and haven't gone back. Was looking for a pic of the roots while transplanting outa of those weird pimple looking pots. Lol So ill have to take one in a couple weeks when that shiva needs transplanted. I used to use perlite but I feel like when I would mix half ffof and perlite I would be taking away room for the roots with that much perlite. Idk its just my opinion tho. I feel coco aerates it enough and the roots love it. Its my way of choking the chicken. There are many ways to get what we all are looking for. This is a pic of the end root ball out of a 7gal pot ffof and coco!:cigar:

Thank you for spreading your knowledge Dynamite. That light bleaching tech might help a lot of ppl. I woulda never thought of that one but makes since.:cigar:

You're welcome bro! They do look great! I actually like those pots! I hear good things about them. I was trying to source the Hercules pots like MGG uses. They are an air-pruning pot that is rigid, high impact plastic, and look indestructable! My store didn't carry them, but they had the Rootmaker pots. Same idea, different implementation. They work great tho, so I've seen no reason to look allot further. I did pick up a couple of the fabric smart pots in 3 and 5 gal sizes. I thought I'd try them out too. I'm definitely a fan of air-pruning the roots!

DD...I'd be careful about a 50-50% mix of perlite. At that point I think the law of diminishing returns kicks in, and you're hurting more than it's helping. You want a light well aireated mix, but you also want plenty of soil for your roots to grow into and set up housekeepinng in! lol. I'd go no more than 25-30% max, unless you use the air pruning pots...and then IMO you're better off running it straight out of the bag with no added perlite.

Yeah They came into my store I shop at locally and I had to try them. I wasnt very impressed with the way the walls come together with only one plastic screw at the top but if you fold the two side the way it was intended to be the one screw holds the pot together main runs with them and they say to pack the soil into the side pretty hard. Ive ran the fabric smart pots also. Not a fan what so ever. The roots grow into the fabric and create quite the hold on the soil and root ball. Make transplanting a b*tch. Sorry for the bomb. lol but no joke I said the heck with that and ended up cutting slits into two side to peel them off. no fun and a lot of stress to the roots. Switched to these and you undo the one screw and fold the pot away from the root ball. Happy plants and roots at the end. No breakage for rot to start.Imo
And in another imo I run coco because coco grows usually done right yield alit more then soil, first step into hydro. imo So you do alit 60/40 soil/coco would be your first step into hydro but with out learning hydro what so ever.lol ffof has a lot of good nutrients in it and a lot say its a tad bit to much. mixed with coco,to me is a perfect start.

Yeah I agree with you guys a little now about my perlite to soil ratio. I was always watering and the got dry so quick. They grew good :? Lol I eventually wanna go into hydro . maybe I'lleexperiment with some coco later on down the road. Iv found peeling the fabric pots off the root ball can sometimes be a little bit of a pain but quite easy with a little funess but I'd have to agree with that it damages the roots a little. I don't think its a major harm because the roots are already pruned at the ends of the net pot so I donno lll. The qwiso hash is ok. It was just trim leaf and not much at that lol. But it gets me litttt. Lol. Its not as oily as I would of liked. Seems to be a little gritty! If theres anything I could improve on feel free to correct me

So I have a question. Iv been currently running blackstrap molasses with my grows. Is there something better out there ? More scientifically made to offer the plant a better range of nutrients but still being a sugar based product? I see earth juice out there and flora fruit infusion stuff. Any advice or just stay with blackstrap?

Try setting your QWISO on a heating pad or some type of electric griddle, set on low.. Not near any flames.. I had a couple batches come out real dry and like crystals.. Went back to the heating pad, and it came out nice and gooey.. I used pure bud the first time.. And look out bro!.. That shit will turn you into Walter Mitty for a few hours.. lol.. Enjoy..

Yeah Dieselduds I agree it doesn't majorly hurt the plant, ripping the rootball out but any ripping of the roots will delay plant growth by a couple day.Leafs look all sad and droopy after that type of transplant for me. imo ripping the roots its not really like air pruning to me because you are breaking the root open which can cause root rot with air pruning its more of the end stops growing and then branches out off that root. Healthy white roots.:cigar:

Quick update

9 site 25 gallon Dwc system with 5 air stones.

Nice, DD! Glad to see you "spreading your wings" and trying new methods. I'm of the opinion that everyone should try as many different grow methods as possible. This way you'll really know what you enjoy most & what works best for you. It's ALL a terrific learning experience too.

LMAO...I remember my hydro days! It was always fun to see what ol' Max would be bar-b-q'ing this week! I wish you great (much better) luck! It'll be cool watching you go through this process and transform into the hydro-master! Best, -Max :wacky:

Plants are looking nice! Wish my veg looked as good right now...lmao! Well, as to which is your keeper...it's been my experience that you're just not going to know that until you've smoked both and compared! You really can't tell by looking, and you don;t know what they're going to do in the cure. I wouldn't even try to judge it until they're finished. "Until then, I'd just keep both moms going, or if you don't have mom's...I'd be certain to keep cuts of both. Merry Christmas! -Max :wacky:
