so I have a question, I wasn't able to find through searching. How long can spider mite eggs lay dormant? there is a fair amount of eggs on some leaves. I'm not sure if they are dead or they are just laying dormant, I thought they were supposed to hatch in 3 days. the eggs are milky colored sort of like a thicombe gets in the stage between clear and amber.

Hmm... give me some time, but given my own observations annually, they must be able to lay dormant for several months (through winter) at least. Let me do a Google Scholar search for ya.

This is the title of the paper:
Effects of Different Constant Humidities and Temperatures on Twospotted Spider Mite Egg Hatch.

Let's see if there's anything more than the abstract available. Meh, fuck, they show that dry, hot conditions are more favorable. No shit.

Here are my search results. Spider mite egg average dormancy period. I used those terms because I figured that both ends of the spectrum would be covered when discussing the average period.

Beyond that, I can ask in one of my FB groups because I'm sure there's someone there who knows for sure.

thanks for finding out for me seamaiden.

I'm considering my options I'm things that kill eggs. I have one called ovation and damnit I wish this wasn't a smokeable crop because it does wonders.

I got Organocide today. it says on the bottle that it will kill all life stages of soft bodied insects, I'm going to apply it along with microbial insecticide by submersion. I can't believe I'm going to be supporting a nasty cancer-causing tobacco corporation.

tomorrow I'm going to spray with nicotine, 25 %isopropanol concentration.

I just started covering the walls in Orca film this is bullshit. it's nothing but tyvek. Expensive tyvek. it looks like they just painted it on 1 side with rubber. The white side appears to be unaltered. Just unprinted.

IIRC, it's used by farmers for their huge piles of poo. I can't remember what catalog I saw it in, available in huge bulk, I think Farmtek.

are you talking about the tyvek? Is usually used as a vapor barrier in houses. For postal envelopes too. It would make sense to use it for manure as it breaths.

The panda or orca plastic you're using, the stuff that's black on one side and white on another. I didn't know it has Tyvek sandwiched in between, though.

Its straight up unprinted tyvek painted with rubber on one side. Compare it to a free postal envelope

The orca stuff I mean, its different than panda plastic. Im going to make my own orca , without the black side. I wonder if there's a very thin paint that I could spray on it to make it very reflective. Like 95%+
it's made out of HDPE that has been woven into very fine strands, it's highly textured. I wonder what I can paint it with that will stick to the hdpe?

Sounds like too much trouble just buy the orca and save your time. I say if you are gonna paint anything, paint the walls flat white and forget the orca all together.

Whoa. A little searching and I find this, I love the internet. I'm going to use tyvek on all my walls from now on.

Tyvek is a permeable, strong, white material made by Dupont. Due to its high reflectivity, many physics experiments use Tyvek to increase the collection of light. The Super-Kamiokande neutrino experiment in Japan uses this material extensively in its outer detector and its reflective properties are part of the Super-K Geant3 Monte Carlo simulator.

did I forget to mention that I'm part Dutch. Im cheap as hell. Today I was taking down someones grow room. And they were getting mad that I was saving screws, and pine 1x2s and shit. Anyway s I cant modify the place im growing in. So I have to cover the walls with some thing. Im going to go grab a free postal tyvek envelope, and look at both under the microscope. Might just use them instead. Of the homewrap. Stick it to the man.

I'm not part Dutch as far as I know, but I like the way you operate. I can't stand wasting perfectly good stuff!

Thanks for that little education on the Tyvek. I assumed you were using something akin to panda film.

A really good OMRI spider mite killer that kills the adults, the larvae, and the eggs with one application is a product called Organocide and runs like 15 to 18 bucks for a bottle of concentrate that will make 16 gallons. It is simply fish oil, sesame oil, and rosemary oil and it kills them fuckers dead at all stages of development as I stated earlier, kills the adults, larvae, and the eggs. The only mites left alive after an application are those you did not hit with the drench. Go back a week later and drench again. No fracking mites. Mighty Wash is good but expensive and only kills the adults. I use that in the last three weeks of bloom only and when or if if I get an out break at that stage. I use the organicide once a week and no mites. here's a pic of the product below. You can buy a bottle of concentrate for as cheap as 15 bucks on Amazon. Now the draw back is that your veg room or bloom room will smell like a New Orleans cannery for 4 to 8 hours afterwards and then fade. I personally don't care about a little fish smell here and there if the mites are all dead without using a pyritheum or IMAD if there is large infestation. I have used this Organicide on a plant covered in mites and web outside and drenched the outdoor plant with this and the next day 99 percent of all them little bloody buggering buggers were dead Oxanaca. I would suggest adding this Organocide to your arsenal of mite preventatives and killers bro.
Best to you always from the Ol' Mile High Bluzboy

Hey I tried the Organocide. 5 days ago, I dunked my plants. Now my whole house reaks of fishyness and its not getting better. Maybe its cause I dunked em instead of sprayibg

I use a hand held Mondi pump sprayer Oxanaca. But the fish odor is still strong for a day or so in the veg room after use. But no freaking spider mites either. The stuff wipes them out, eggs. larvae, and adults with one good application.

used my drip system this morning for the first time ever, it was hooked up to a aquatec 880 pressure biased pump. i was unsure how it would work as the flowrate is slightly under the requirements of 70 2liter/hr drip emiters. gonna use this configunation at a friends appartment.

hopeing to use my injection system once i switch to day 21 flowering element mix. gotta figure out my new glycine micros and how many grams of sulphuric acid need to be added to each gallon first though.
