I like easy. With the rain we got this year I didn't have to water. Didn't add nutes much because the earth is good here. I did start the plants inside in March which was a lot of the work as is the taking the plants down. Easy.

Mostly the Raspberry Shoes is getting leaves taken off. That's where most of the PM is.

PM is still getting sprayed daily. I'm also picking the most affected leaves off. You can tell there's serious defoliation going on ;-).

In the dirt it's time. It won't get better with a lot of wind and rain.

I'm spraying every day for powdery mildew now. At chop time I'll add a hydrogen peroxide bath before drying on a lot of branches. I've got low 40's at night mid 60's in the day but dry. The days are consistent and no 70's in sight which is good news because the wicked storms are usually warm...

It may be Indian summer some places. Others... not so much. The plants I'm growing this year still have weeks to go. The weather probably doesn't though. I expect another 2-4 weeks and I'll consider it a good year I expect.

My solution for boys is to plant a little more than I want expecting some to be male. If you end up with no males and an extra plant or 2 that's okay. When I find a boy I give a home based, totally natural, vasectomy. Works every time.

Grow regular seed instead of fem or auto. Start inside a couple months before outside date which is when chance of frost disappears in your area. If there is a protected site (eg. against the garage or between barns) use it to keep plants tied to and not breaking. Add peat and aged manure...
